In addition to spilling about the “Tik Tok” singer, Bangladesh took the mic to discuss his feature-heavy solo project and the recent call he received from a “Dancing with the Stars” contestant. “I just got a call from Brandy,” he shared. “She wants me to do her album—hard stuff.”
Both producers’ respective sounds and past work present exciting prospects for Ms. Norwood’s new LP. Can’t help but salivate at the idea of Brandy on a Diva-esque track or something like the sublime ‘There Goes My Baby’. Bring on that album!

Where does it say she is following new trends or be like beyselbub? She’s always done R&B with a pop/alternative flair since “Full Moon”. She’s been Urban since her debut. If you’ve listened to her albums you know she has mastered so many sounds. She would never be something that she’s not. She’s done it all before.

Okay people. This is my take on the Brandy/Beyonce debate. Beyonce is good at what Beyonce does. She is an incredible entertainer but, she has yet to have THAT ALBUM. That CAREER-DEFINING, CLASSIC, CAN’T PUT IT DOWN OR LEAVE OUT OF THE HOUSE WITHOUT IT OR STOP BUMPING IT album. That is where the disconnect comes from. Beyonce has an awesome image behind her but, her music pales when compared to it. Yes, she is pretty. We all get that but beauty fades. What are her fans left with when she can’t pop across the stage anymore? I like a few of her songs so, don’t get me wrong. I AM NOT, I REPEAT, I AM NOT A HATER! Just giving my opinion. Once she releases THAT album. I will buy it!
I am a Brandy fan because there is a certain rawness I get from her music. She has been through SO much and faces so much adversity everyday yet remains a humble and sweet person. ALL FIVE of her albums are good but she has blessed us with FOUR classic albums. Never Say Never was her CAREER-DEFINING album. She has consistently cranked out unbelievable albums and many people in her age range cannot say that. Brandy is in a league all her own when it comes to music. She IS NOT so many things but she IS so many at the same time.
It goes with out saying there will be a couple of bangers on this album being that she has enlisted heavy hitters, however one thing I know about Brandy is that she doesn’t compromise her lyrical content. So the Beyonce route Miss Chick Boom was referring to will not manifest on this album there will be no ghetto pat your weaves for the baby mama anthems, nope not Brandy. One thing I am concerned about is that damn Bran Nu, that is one thing I am against. It’s not her, I know she’s doing to it appeal to a new crowd but “It’s Not Worth It”!

No Offense but you are not a true Beyonce Fan so you wouldnt know the greatness of her music. All 3 of her albums were great in their own Right. & I personally dont Find any other R&B Album to be better than DIL, That is a Classic R&B Album, It was well rounded & consistent with some really great songs. The reason why none of her albums stick out from the others as the definite best is because they are all pretty much EQUAL. Ive never heard of a Perfect Album But I do hope that her next album is more Career Defining & better than all the others. Album-wise Bey is in a entirely different league to me also. Bey is the only artist in my opinion that has the potential to make a “perfect” album with nothing but Great Songs.
I find Brandy’s Music to be good but generally just OK, Bland for now music but nothing of a long lasting impression. @ Loud. You are correct about one thing. I am no Beyonce fan but I too purchased DIL. It is a good album but, not so great. Beyonce has obviously not advanced lyrically at all. After the masterpeice Destiny Fulfilled with DC, I would have thought BDay would definitely knock it out of the ballpark but, with songs like Kitty Kat and Freakum Dress it failed to spark my interest. I loved Get Me Bodied and Resentment though. I am a MUSIC fan so I give EVERYONE a chance. She failed to gain me as a fan then.
Brandy is far from a one-dimensional singer (ie Ciara, Rihanna, Cassie). But you have not heard her albums so you would not know that. She may not have a 100 octave range LOL but, that is not what makes a good artist ( ie Michael, Janet (see Janet and Velvet Rope albums), Alicia Keys). If ONLY vocals were the issue then ALL of Whitney and Mariah’s albums would be deemed CLASSIC huh?

so If we go back to destinys child. beyonce was the first to master how to ride a hip hop beat. Mariah Carey tampered with it with butterfly, but Beyonce mastered it.
While other artist were singing traditionally over hip hop beats like Mary J or both rapping and singing seperately like L. Boog beyonce was riding the beats like a rapper while still singing.
The first time we heard Beyonce do this was in Bug-a-boo.

She has layers, you not only hear her emotion – you can sense her vulnerability in her songs(“Broken hearted” (*Brandy), “Put that on everything” and “Tommorrow” (*N-S-N). You also feel her passion and can admire her gift in delivery and phrasing (i.e. “Angel in Disguise” (*Brandy), “Wow” (*Full Moon), “Focus” (Afrodisiac), “Never – say – never” and “Almost Doesn’t Count” (*N-S-N)… You also get to witness her sass and versatility in “Necessary” and “Where you wanna be” (*Afrodisiac), “I thought” and “Anybody” (*Full Moon); for versatility – “Torn down”, “Camouflage”, “Fall” and “Shattered heart” (Human). One demensional she is not! Her lyrical content on all of her albums as she was maturing and evolving is so inspiring. She’s laid a foundation down for contemporary r&b artist that followed behind her.
Brandy doesn’t have as many grammy’s as Bey, but she has accomplished everything Bey has way before she was around( Billboard & American music awards, multi platnium selling albums, starring in a motion picture, Covergirl, – blah, blah, blah). She taught alot of girls in the game how to do it…
@ True – I don’t think your giving Bey enough credit. She certainly does have that career defining album. As much as people seem to hate to admit it – all 3 of Bey’s albums are career defining and classic! She’s done what few have – consistently showed growth and amazing all 3 of her albums have totally different sounds (R&B, Funk and pop) and like someone said before could have been made by 3 different artist. Beyonce boldly has stepped out of the box and proven that she has an unmatched talent!

She’s a performer/entertainer, and a decent vocalist at best. B-Day was’nt that great at all. IASF’ was good. It had to grow but her first album is her best one. Beyonce’s music does’nt compare to Brandy’s, the lyrics, the wuality, the depth. It just does’nt match up. Beyonce may have released the best contemporary album when that album came out during that time, but each of the albums mentioned are far better in wuality than her album.

Brandy has a grammy may’be not as many as Beyonce’, but that is not to say that she does’nt deserve them. Beyonce came out during a time, where it was’nt to much talent out. She’s highly favored in this industry for some reason or another. Sometimes she receiveds things when she does’nt always deserve them. Grammys don’t make u a better artist. The way Brandy utilizes her voice is far more interesting than Beyonce’s.
Beyonce was not the first to master riding a hiphop beat that was Mariah, the true queen of branching genre’s. Beyonce does aight with it. But Mariah owns that, hell she opened the door up for Beyonce to do that. By the way We Belong Together is not a hiphop beat.
@ The man… I have to give you credit for that, Mariah was first. I personally agree with Miss chick boom though, I feel Bey was the one who mastered it. Destiny’s Child ” The Writing’s on the wall” was the album that switch up the flow for so many artist that followed behind that album. Mariah was doing 50 words a minute, Bey did 75! It was a big difference.

Some of you guys are being so harsh on Bey. I wasn’t going to mention this, but Bey has sold 11.2 million albums in the U.S. I don’t know why she’s not on the Billboard list, but it’s not important. I’m sure that Brandy’s frist 2 albums have sold more to date anyway – so both their sales are probably still very close in numbers.
Bey’s criticism – on stealing and jacking people’s swag is unfounded. She is a target just like MJ , Lauryn Hill and others (none of this plagiarism has ever been formed into a solid case). I also highly doubt that Bey’s even looking towards finding inspiration in Jlo. I think that’s totally out of the question!
Beyonce showmanship and level of performing is so different from Britney’s. I’ve never seen her do anything that resemble what she has done on stage live. Britney was a Janet clone that wasn’t up to par! From a technical standpoint Britney may be considered a dancer for what she attempts to do, but sometimes she’s stiff and as of late – off. I don’t think she’s anyone that you want to immulate.
Some of this is just a bit wacky and I can’t say that it’s a fair picture being painted here of all that Bey brings to the table. No one is making her out to be the music messiah, but it’s simply a matter of giving credit where it’s due. As far as I’m concerned Mariah was doing the rap/singing first and Bey did master it. Brandy actually did it too (with Top of the world in ’99). Bey did it in ’98 No, No, No part 2 and all throughout TWOTW. Who mastered it? I’ll give it to one of them. It doesn’t even matter who, they are so equally talented. Mary did sing more traditionally and Lauryn was seperating the two! It’s anyone’s call on that one.

She’s not the “it girl” at the moment(your right in that regard), but she’s gained the respect of the industry. She is referred to as the vocal bible for a reason. Whitney’s not the “it girl” and she’s still the voice. We don’t have MJ here any longer, but he’s the king of pop. Madonna’s not as popular as Gaga at the moment, but we all know she’s in a different league. Ciara’s the “new Janet”, but Janet can never be duplicated… It goes on and on! Brandy is that chick, she’s again – a superior artist.

What I’m saying is that it’s a tight race between them. Brandy entire sum is higher than 10.5. Who did more is the question if your comparing their sales. DIL is closer to 5million and IASF was 2.8 million in January of this year. Brandy’s first album is also closer to 5. I would not be surprised if both albums are. You can get a good estimate when you look up their discography, but you may not reach the grand total because you doint see decimal points. Also older albums would need to be recertified (like Brandy’s “Brandy”). The newer albums (like IASF) are usually more accurate. You still don’t see how many hundred thousands are sold though.

With Beyonce being one of the biggest most hyped stars on the planet, i’m very puzzled as to why she did’nt sale more albums.
She likes to play this look at me im innocent role, when she’s far from. She’d do anything for success, even walk over others for it. The quality of her music does’nt hold a candle to Brandy’s.
