Published: Tuesday 14th Sep 2010 by Sam

R&B crooner Trey Songz releases his fourth studio album ‘Passion, Pain & Pleasure’ in the US today. Preceded by the singles ‘Bottoms Up’ and ‘Can’t Be Friends’, insiders claim the LP is the one his label are banking on to catapult him into the big leagues.

That said, we here at That Grape Juice want to know…

    Idk, yet. I absolutely LOVED his ‘Ready’ album, but I’m not too sure about this one. I think he reached his peak with ‘Ready’ because that was an amazing album. I know a few friends that are gonna buy it, so I’ll get their opinion or listen to theirs and go from there I guess.

    Dude probably still won’t sell but 80K, though.

  3. imo September 14, 2010

    NO

  4. KD September 14, 2010

    I downloaded the album and it definately has some solid tunes; Can’t Be Friends, Bottoms Up, Red Lipstick, Doorbell, Blind are just some of the songs that I recall from the top of my head which I enjoyed. It’s a shame that TGJ has reduced him to the level of an aspiring p*** star, when other male artists are just as explicit *turns and looks at Usher*, is just sad.

    Oh well…

  5. jazybelle September 14, 2010

  6. Kiz2400 September 14, 2010

    When is it Available in the uk ?

  7. RosaRubbel September 14, 2010

    I really don’t know. I was indecisive about ‘Ready’, & so I’ll be about ‘Passion, Pain & Pleasure’. ‘Ready’ had some good ballads like ‘Black Roses’, ‘Love Lost’ etc., but the rest… eeh I didn’t like it that much.

  8. Minaj September 14, 2010

  17. truthfully September 14, 2010

    To be honest…I would and was going to buy this album because of how amazing ready was I have already listened to the songs and bottoms up…doorbell are the only decent songs there…So I will save my money on this one.

  18. Soulful Roses September 14, 2010

    Nope…but I will be @ the record store bright and early when El Debarge releases his album. I’ve fell in love with “Second Chance” 🙂

    NO

  22. X,Y,”and Z” September 14, 2010

    @Sam/Trent…anyone. I must be missing something — where’s Trey Songz’s sales? I mean, it’s today 9/14/10 that his CD is to be released, no? Here’s the link :
    http://www.hitsdailydouble.com/sales/salescht.cgi <– I JUST checked, where is his CD? Did you guys have the release dates mixed-up?

    ……Wait a sec, HDD ALSO reports 9/14/10 as his CD release-date; K, so now, I'm totally confused!! HDD is reporting that OVER 54% sales have been reported. I STILL don't see his CD's #s; what gives …..???? From what their saying, the highest reported sales is 45.7k for Sara Bareilles at 45,764 units! <–Last update 9/14/2010 11:41 (PDT). NOW IN: 54.02%

  23. okkk September 14, 2010

    Download yeah, buy no.

  24. True Blue September 14, 2010

    Serious question: If this album doesn’t do well… will he get dropped by his label?

  25. PLAIN AND SIMPLE September 14, 2010

    @XY and Z

    His CD is to come in stores and itunes today. I seen it at the top of Necole Bitchie page. But like you said where is it?

  26. X,Y,”and Z” September 14, 2010

    @plain and simple — I DON’T support/visit necole bitchie’s site. I was banned!

    According to http://www.hitsdailydouble.com/sales/sales_ur.cgi?091410, his CD is to be released today, as TGJ has reported. But when I go to see the real-time sales figures here:
    /www.hitsdailydouble.com/sales/salescht.cgi <–I don't see it, and their up to 54% of sales reported. I'm not sure, but "something is amiss…!!!"

    plain and simple, can you please go those links and report back? Maybe it's me or my computer. I'd appreciate it (given the LOUD-talk 'bout he and Usher touring, I'm really curious!)

  27. X,Y,”and Z” September 14, 2010

    @True Blue – ..Hmmmm…. one can ONLY wonder…!!!

  28. Alex September 14, 2010

    im guessin he’ll sell 20k in the first week

  29. CIARADABESS September 14, 2010

    I’m sorry but once you watch a gay p*** video, you never watch that s*** again, so I’m gonna have to pass on this one.

  30. Carmen September 14, 2010

    Maybe, theres no maybe option.

  31. PLAIN AND SIMPLE September 14, 2010

    @XY and Z

    I look at that site you posted about 3 times his CD is not there 4 real. I even ask my brother to look and it’s not there.

  32. Carmen September 14, 2010

    @X,Y,Z lol they jst released it today. His numbers wont show until the next week. Which will be next monday/tues on hits daily double.

    @true blue I doubt he will get dropped because hes working like a machine. All these tours are bring the label money. He just finished a small tour and he did a set on that Jay z tour last year and now hes going on tour with Usher. Cd sells are only a fraction of the money artist get paid. Shows make up the most.

  33. PLAIN AND SIMPLE September 14, 2010

    @Carmen

    I thought is was the other way around. I thought the money from the tours goes to the artist and record sales to the label.

  34. True Blue September 14, 2010

    @ Carmen:

    I just thought since he wasn’t big in any sense of the word, the label would give up trying.

  35. True Blue September 14, 2010

    @ Carmen:

    I mean, Rihanna has successful singles, and has sold waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more albums than Trey has, yet her album sales still aren’t on par with the success of her singles, so her label keeps making her pump out a new album practically every year to try and make up for the difference.

  36. True Blue September 14, 2010

    So imagine how that would be for Trey, who barely has a fraction of her success.

    And I hate how I accidentally click on the Rocawear ad, ugh.

    LMBO! I don’t think he’ll sell that low, but I’m not buying his album.

    @True Blue

    That’s true, in regards to your last post.

  38. Keesha September 14, 2010

    @Alex LMBO! I don’t think he’ll sell that low, but I’m not buying his album.

    @True Blue

    That’s true, in regards to your last post.

  39. PLAIN AND SIMPLE September 14, 2010

    Also Trey’s reality show has very low rating. Seens like people are not even watching his show either.

  40. kody September 14, 2010

    my n**** breezy back why is gay songz still here if it want for chris incident trey songz would still be a nobody its funny how girls need somebody d*** to be on

  41. MeMe September 14, 2010

  42. Alexander September 14, 2010

    Flop Songz
    Goat Songs=
    Gold album and 60,000 first week in sales!

    Now Baa that

  43. X,Y,”and Z” September 14, 2010

    @Carmen —

    You’re right! Thanks for the correction. I thought hdd was real-time all-week-long, you know? I mean, I’m really amped-up/stoked-up bout Trey Songz AND T.I.’s numbers. Both of their CDs drop today! What I’m trying to see is if Trey’s failed reality-tv show will reflect in HIS numbers and, the contrary to/for T.I.; will he get a boost/push from ‘Takers’ being the success it is?

    I’m mean, the juxtaposition of the two and the difference in the “build-up” between the two, you know, it’s like….fascinating!

    And, as far as, ‘Takers’ , here’s what http://www.boxoffice.com/statistics/bo_numbers/daily/2010-09-14 has to say:

    “Takers has grossed $48.08 million in 18 days and is set to clear the $50 million mark during the upcoming weekend.”

    Like I said, I’m really, really, really curious to see what a failed reality TV-show will do, as opposed-to a co-starring/co-producing successful #1-movie role.

    …I can’t wait…

  44. VA STAND UP!! September 14, 2010

    SMH @ the comments.

    I am undecided at the monent. I support Trey, I think he is a talented artist who is finally getting the shine he deserves, but he is still isn’t the type of artist I would rush out to go buy his album. I have to like what I hear & so far I don’t I’m not too impressed. ‘Bottoms Up’ was just Ok to me, ‘Can’t be Friends’ is nice but still not enough to make me wanna buy hue album. Maybe I should just go check it out on Youtube, since it already leaked.

    I wish him well though I am afraid he is gonna flop. I can’t see him doing over 100k first week. Good luck Trey!

  45. Tomahawk Jones September 14, 2010

    Nope, most likely not. Supporter of Trey here…I know, a few of us among many are here lol, but this s*** feels so rushed…and I only like a handful (if that) of songs on this new jawn. And I can think of many better ways to spend that chunk of change. Besides, I rarely buy albums (in store or online), I only spend the mullah if I REEEAAALLLLYYYY love their music, and Trey ain’t doin it for me. Naw, I’ma need Trey to slow up on this s***…GROW AS AN ARTIST (live life, be inspired, learn how to control the billy goat vibrato that surprisingly wasn’t always there…then come the f*** back)…because his oversaturation is wearing on my already frazzled nerves.

    Now with that said, I wish the brutha nothing but success…and I actually hope he proves the naysayers wrong and does great sales…still not buying tho lol. Probably seems like I’m contradicting myself, and I guess I am, but I hate seeing people fail when I KNOW they work hard…and you’re just hella shady if you say he doesn’t. Good Luck Trey…but do better for your next album…cuz this one is some s***! Ok, I’m done with the most contradicting comment ever lmao!

  46. Lady September 15, 2010

    I havent heard it. So maybe. But really I don’t see him selling too much in his first week.

    And why are these artist pushing out albums year after year? Are they afraid of becoming irrelevant? Is it it because their label spent so much on their videos and promotion and then the albums sales didnt do as well as expected? I really liked Ready. But he had too many videos and too much hype for it NOT to go platnium. I hope Ready wasnt his peak because that would be a sad peak. I’m hoping this does well though 😀

    And ya’ll aint right for clicking no! The majority of ya’ll cliucked no….smh….please don’t flop Trey because that would be sad.

  47. Rated X September 15, 2010

    not even if that album came with a free c****** massage by trey songz his damn self..

  48. UGh September 15, 2010

    no f****** way. Trey could sit on a c***.

  49. idrag4mj September 15, 2010

    flop!!!!!!!!

  50. Jlobiache September 15, 2010

    i don’t like any of the singles he released so NO. and i think he is a cornBALL.

  51. JANE BUT NOT TARZAN’S B**** September 15, 2010

    @KD

    Usher has never finger f***** the air or imitated the moans and groans of a woman while she’s orgasming. Sorry Usher never had to get that explicit. He wasn’t compensating for a lack of dance skill (like Trey) and he wasn’t trying to prove he was straight (like Trey)

  52. Secret Voice September 15, 2010

    Trey was in Atlanta today and he was just outside of Atlanta for hours signing his new cd and I got my autographed copy! He was sweet,called me a cutie,even gave me a little kiss on the cheek but I remained calmed unlike some of the bitter bytches that gave me a side eye because they thought Trey and I knew each other but that was my first time seeing him in person.Trey is even better looking in person to me! There was atleast a thousand women/ girls of all ages and races standing in line to see Mr. Neverson baby!

  53. Secret Voice September 15, 2010

    @ MeMe….I agree.The cd id is GOOD!

  54. Brian-Keith Jackson September 15, 2010

    Well if u ask me,I love Trey Songz…I love all of his songs,Trey Songz is awsome and a fly lookin guy…I the way he dresses,Sooooo yes I would buy his album….

  55. Alexander September 19, 2010

    commercially, “You Are Not Alone”, remains one of Jackson’s best selling singles. It holds the Guinness World Record for the first song ever to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.[14] First week sales were 120,000 copies, it was certified platinum by the RIAA for shipments of at least one million units within the US.[15][16][17] It broke the record,

    R Kelly wrote that and now Trey top that, can you write something in this magnitude and sell 120,000 singles for one song?

    PPP might go platinum but you still have work to do and maybe PPP will just stop at gold, it’s the young cotex bleeders and hood rats trying to help you out.

  56. Johnny Quest September 21, 2010

    stop d*** suckin i got da cd and dat shyt cold stop playin wit yall selfs fam
