“After finishing in first place last weekend, The American (WITH GEORGE CLOONEY) has taken quite a hit. The meditative hitman flick is simply NOT mainstream entertainment and it’s bound to FALL EVEN FASTER in the weeks to come.
Machete is ALSO falling fast. The campy action flick was always expected to be very front-loaded.”
So it’s Resident Evil:Afterlife, that’ll be #1 with an estimated $25-$27-Million. BUT, on a per/theater basis, “Takers” is “taking them” ..!! Takers is being shown on the least-number of screens, but is only second in return-receipts; of ALL the films in current “wide-theater release..!!”

I STILL believe Chris should travel and do some of this movie’s promotion, come next month, when it’ll start to be shown overseas. If I’m not too mistaken, he did perform in front of a 90-thousand-strong audience in the Philippines? And didn’t he do well, while recently on-tour in Brasil? He can also promote it in Europe.
I just can’t wait for the prequel. No Matt Dillon/Zoe Saldana, and sour-face Hayden Christiensen who also get’s a #hohaveaseat. It was T.I./Idris Elba and Breezy who made this film the success that it is!
I think, in the prequel, T.I./Will Packer should cast Monica to be the female lead. They should give her and Idris a steamy love-scene. I’m telling you, the’d just work very well: bring in ALL sorts/manner-of audience/demographic! The money they can save by giving Matt Dillon/Zoe Saldana/Hayden Christien’s role to someone else, they can use it to buy more promotion! They should give Paul Walker’s role to Boris Kodjoe. They’ll still have all the “eye-candy for the ladies.” But yet, do some character development, and still leave room for some good chase/blowing-up, bandit-sort s***!

“The genre film label thought all was lost, especially after it had waited years for filmmaker John Luessenhop to take care of his ill son. But this is why Sony Pictures pays marketing/distribution czar Jeff Blake the big bucks: He sent rap star T.I. on 10-city, 20-day tour to promote the pic. Matt Dillon/Zoe Saldana/Haden Christiensen/Paul Walker might have been IN THE FILM. But they were largely absent in/during it's marketing. So, essentially, when you saw them, in the movie, you were surprised to see them!! This, is what has, Hollywood/the haters, most upset: black-folk came out to support a movie bout/with black folk. T.I./Idris Elba and Our Boy, got black folk all excited, and support this movie they THEN did, all-the-way to "BLOCKBUSTER STATUS…!!!"

When the movie came out and Zoe and Matt name was mentioned I was surprise and taken back, because all the promotion and magazines Zoe was on and in she never mentioned one time “Takers”, Zoe was all over the place just months before “Takers” with her half naked slutty self. LOL

Same here, 9/11 left a mark in history, my father said he had been in that building over a dozen times and always felt strange. I never been in the towers, but I have seen them from a far and they where not the kind of buildings that I had a wish to go up in, I have a phobia in buildings that tall.
I’m fainting just the thought of it.

@Bluekid I’ve never been in the WTC’s either, but I remember we had went to New York in the spring of 2000. My mom took pictures of Manhattan and the WTC’s were in nearly all of the pictures. It was eerie looking at them a year later, knowing that the towers were no longer there.
I also wonder if any of these celebrities at Fashion Week in New York are going to visit Ground Zero for the anniversary of 9/11.

I heard of parties on one of the top floors up their my parents had friends that would go up their for New years. My father would have business lunch up on one of those higher floors in some famous restaurant.
My father and I watch both planes go in to the build that morning it was so surreal, just unbelievable. It was like watching a movie. When the first plane hit my father was like it’s an accident, and he wasn’t surprise because of the height of the building than the second plane hit, OMG! It hit us that is was intentional.
It would be nice if the celebrities would visit ground zero.

FYI: Matt Dillon, Paul Walker and Zoe Saldana were the ones who promoted this film the LEAST!! None of them were seen anywhere when t came time to promote this film! They left it all up to the black actors, Idris, Michael TI and Chris to promote this film. Even though their names and faces were splasded everywhere, they took no part in the promotion of the film.
Hayden went to the premiere in LA, he did Regis and Kelly and Jimmy Kemmel as well as the the MTV interviews with the rest of the cast, but he is always ridiculed for his horrible acting. His only big movie roles were in the Star Wars Trilogies. Die hard Star War fans said he was a horrible Skywalker and he even one a Razzie award for his performance. He is NOT the kind of actor to bring in an audience.
Paul Walker is an actor known for his looks, and not his acting abilities. Like Hayden, Paul’s only big movie roles were in ‘Fast and the Furious’ movies.
Matt Dillon is a good actor who has a lot of respect in Hollywood, but he has long past the days where he can bring in an audience on his name alone. He is far from the hearthrob he used to be and his movie roles have gotten quite scare.
Not to mention neither Paul, Hayden or Zoe even mentioned the film on their twitter accounts. It’s almost as if they didn’t even want to be associated wth the film at all!
Whereas TI, CB, Idris and Michael ALL promoted the film heavily on their twitter accounts. Michael even joined twitter just to promote the film. Both TI and CB and Idris did 106 & park and Sucker Free Sunday. CB and Michael did radio interviews together and the majority of the cast sat down with MTV to do a series interveiws. This film was heavily markedted to the urban audience and you best believe the black actors in this film were the ones that brought in the audience!

And I agree Dillion, Zoe and Walker did not promote the movie, to me not at all, all the coverage Zoe got she did not mention, “Takers” not one time. They distant them selves from the move, I really don’t under stand Zoe, because it was B urban movies that made her.

I'd like 'Takers' to reach $50M before it goes overseas. In this way, it'll get a serious push.
Just as boxofficeguru predicted, that George Clooney flick is fading, but fast! So is 'Machete'. What does this mean? Well, it means that 'Takers' will have less competition, in an already-declining marketplace!
I mean, they're trying everything to push 'The American/Machete': giving both more theaters/removing screens from 'Takers'; it's NOT working! 'Takers' is…."taking 'em all!"
What they SHOULD do, is to just "recognize" and return the screens!
