X-Factor 2010: Auditions (Week 3)

Published: Saturday 4th Sep 2010 by Sam

The X-factor 2010 audition phase continued tonight, with the usual array of hot and not performances. Check out what week 3 of the hit show served up below…

{For those unfamiliar with The X Factor, the show is the UK’s version of American Idol – with a twist in that groups and over 25’s are eligible to enter. Now in it’s seventh season, the show is responsible for birthing the careers of Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke, and JLS. It’s US version is set to launch in 2011}.

Best and worst of this week’s performances below…

Cher (A Must-See)

Abilisa

Twem

Patti

Liam

Hands down the best episode of this series, this week certainly served up many a notable performance – the most potent of which was Cher Lloyd‘s unique spin on Keri Hilson’s ‘Turn My Swag On’. All too often, such shows see the same ol’ same ol, yet Ms. Lloyd injected some much needed ‘swagger’ into the show. Great moment…

Roll on next week….

  12. ADE September 5, 2010

F****** hell Cher went hard! Her audition is hands down the best so far this series. I hope they don’t water her down and turn her into some boring and bland pop singer, her attitude and swagger is what made the audtion, got a great voice too!

  13. UGh September 5, 2010

Cher took that s*** outta da park!

  14. Louis September 5, 2010

That’s bad journalism, at least do some correct research. It’s the 7th series. Steve b, Shane w, Leona (the best) Lewis, Leon Jackson, Alexandra Burke, Joe McElderry and the current 7th series! How embarrassing for the author!!!

  15. idrag4mj September 5, 2010

    cher slayed

  16. rob September 5, 2010

i was gonna write a negative bout cher , but i watched it again and i see it , she slayed,

  17. Dev September 5, 2010

Sorry, wasn’t feeling Cher! A few problems: She looked like she rehearsed that song to death so would be interesting to see her sing something broken down, it was like playing dress up

People were cheering but i can guarantee you that most people didn’t know that song and left still not knowing it.

Its funny how she was singing a straight up R&B song. I have never seen a black person of xfactor do that yet, so i’m guessing that they got locked off before the judges/audience stage and never got screen time or made it through, but Cher manages this.

Wasn’t she just Cheryl Cole 2 with a better voice?

This is what you kids called swagger and shutting it down and slaying? The leg/mouth movements were bordering on embarrassing.

  18. Dev September 5, 2010

I watched it again….. still no betta, chick cannot sing. This blog tears down Rihanna and boosts this (and im far from a Rihanna fan)

The world is really coming to an end.

  19. Kinyard September 5, 2010

    Dev shut up hater!

I hope when Cher gets sign she comes to america we someone like her I wonder how she would sound on Commander.

  20. Sanging September 5, 2010

THIS YEAR GONNA SUCK AGAIN. JUST LIKE LAST YEAR. TALENT IS GETTING WORSE AND WORSE!

  21. KD September 5, 2010

LOL @ abilisa, they should win something, anything… OMG

  22. KD September 5, 2010

    Oh yeah…Cher KILT IT!

    That is all.

  23. Nathan September 5, 2010

i’m with everybody else, Cher’s AUDITION was hands down the best we’ve seen this series!! My fave so far

  24. Dev September 5, 2010

@Kinyard. I will be shutting nothing up! I’m not sure who you think you are to tell me i cannot have my view?

If i dont like something i dont like it so keep your HATER crap at home, that word is overused and tired

Oh, and try to make sense in what you’re writing instead of being concerned with what i am.

  25. ~AALEXISR~ THE SUMMER KING (THE BAHAMAS) September 5, 2010

Liam was good too… Very Bublé lol…

  26. Zih September 5, 2010

I don’t know what the fuss was all about. Seriously I thought Sam meant it in a bad way when he said it was a must watch…until the audience cheered so loud did I realize they actually thought she was good??! Like WTF? Swagger?? Hmm strange cause I didn’t sense or feel her swagger at all. And she can’t even sing well! Liam’s cute as hell! Hope he wins!

  27. Teflon Boy September 5, 2010

It’s true, Cher went hard…, for me it was great to see an unwatered down act doing the music they clearly love…, esp’ as that is the music that is some of the most relevant these days in terms of what young people actually listen to. It kills me that it only ever seems to be the most dated of acts going through, or they seem to want to completely overhaul any ounce of urban-sass from the acts.

@Dev, I think that’s a valid point that you mentioned because I wonder if a black act could have gotten away with such an audition, in a word I think not because at the auditions it seemed they didn’t really put through urban types, unless they were ‘urban nerd’-like and very mainstream in appeal. If there is any urban-ness in the mix it always seems to get converted into that motown-ish thing we’ve heard a gazillion times. That’s the main reason I know many great singers who won’t go on that show, they don’t get to perform the music they’re into.

NB. I also thought it was funny Cheryl liked her so much, as that’s clearly the sort of music Cheryl listens to in her personal tastes but unfortunately doesn’t have the talent to deliver it herself nor mentor it in others, while Louis and Simon don’t understand Hiphop/RnB whatsoever which is why they don’t manage undiluted urban acts and are consistently unable to add those elements to the straight up ballad singers with a passing feel for the genre that go on the show either i.e. Leona.

  28. Dev September 5, 2010

I’m sure the girl from N-dubz could’ve pulled this outta the hat.

    Nice reply Teflon boy

  29. Lackawanna September 5, 2010

Cher was good, but bish looks 34 years old, instead of 16.

  30. @mixedominicana September 6, 2010

Love Cher, but those eye brows baby…o_O…#TheFuck??

  31. Suqqa September 6, 2010

*** SWAGGERR ONN POIINTT Cher ***

  32. GETfuckingREAL September 7, 2010

That broad was fu*king horrible. No ifs, ands, or buts about that mess. She shouldn’t have made any attempts at dancing, it made her look quite awkward. Vocals were off and the pitch just didn’t do it. And she does look old.

  33. Jean Ellis September 9, 2010

I think that Cher looked quite peculiar and I agree that she did look very old for her age.
I have never heard of the song Turn Your Swagger On but I did think that it was quite a gross song. Liam has too much of a large mouth and the voice well, not that great but who knows what the true sound of these voices are as of late there is such a lot of talk about Auto Tuning. Liam was programmed to be back in two years time in spite of the judges
false looking surprises when he walked on the stage do they think that the public are fools.
Inspite of all of the falsehood surrounding the Ex Factor I still love to watch it.
