The Silence
Already a fan-favourite, the soaring ballad was confirmed by the X-Factor star to be her newest release earlier today on Twitter.
The re-recorded version of ‘The Silence’ proceeds #1 smash ‘Start Without You’ – which itself became Burke’s third UK chart-topper last month. If there’s any justice it will follow suit. For not only does the song boast Burke’s most impressive vocal showing to date, it’s ‘big ballad’ form is particularly befitting to the forthcoming Holiday season.
Peep Alex’s rousing performance of the song on The Paul O’ Grady Show from earlier this year below. Burke is set to perform the single on the X-Factor next month.
The ‘Overcome’ re-release hits stores on November 29th.

Where Leona @? How’d her last album do?
As much as I disliked everything out side of Badboys, Alexandra’s record comp saw the route music was going so they made a album that would work in the current market the only way to keep interest or any chance of a successful debut. Sad but it just might be what ensures she gets a 2nd album.
Leona has a superior range and years of coaching to ensure control but lets not keep doing the Leona v Alexandra thing, their both in the industry and will probably both get the chance to make another album, that proves they can co exist.

i love this girl and supported her during her X Factor auditions, was afraid that she would not be anymore relevant i only liked bad boys too but i knew all those other songs were to keep mainstream interested.
i agree this generation has a different taste to music but at least her songs have been chart toppers but im glad she is releasing this song.

@ Husbitch Alex is not average in either singing or dancing. Do not let your preference for Leona over Alex xloud your mind.
Alex is world class. with just less than 2 years of professional training & experience her vocal ability, dancing and stage presence is WORLD CLASS. Not many artists today have what she has got & presently in the music scene globally I think Alex is in the top 10 list of incredible singers/outstanding performers.
Alex is underrated and the British public does not help with giving her a hard time with so much comparisons & negativity towards most of what she does. But of ALL the x factor winners/contestants I think Alex is the best (including Leona). Don’t get me wrong Leona is a good singer but that is it she may have a 20 octave range but she doesn’t make her songs believable where as Alex does e.g Halleluyah, The Silence (when she sings you believe every word & feel the song in any way it relates to you). Plus Leona has been extremely luck Simon took her by the hand to Ophra Winfrey show which gave her the platform she needed in America. Lets be honest for some one with that good a start in career Leona on her own has BOMBED it big time, her only legacy is bleeding love which was just a LUCKY song nothing special I know anyone at that time could have a hit with the song. There after Leona can’t really sell records without the X Factor like Alex & JLS do.
IF Leona had won the x factor between 2008 & now she would have been dropped by Syco b/c she wouldn’t be able to sell any decent amount of music & owing by the constant trust of competition by the media & other people Alex has done INCREDIBLY OUTSTANDING.
That is why I hold that Alex is the BEST X factor winner/contestant she is what the music industry is about can sing emotional & convincing ballads & do incredible up tempos.
Even JLS I think they are OVER RATED by both the media & with the help of obsessed teenage girls they are average singers whose voices hardly blend together as a group. Forget the auto tuning used in studios I’m talking LIVE singing which in any case they have hardly done since leaving the X Factor but have most often resorted to miming.
