Kelly Rowland Hits Studio With Darkchild

Published: Thursday 14th Oct 2010 by Sam

Well documented is the fact that Kelly Rowland‘s latest project has been quite the roller-coaster. Now set for release next year, the album’s revised deadline has afforded the 29 year old studio time with Urban heavyweights such as The-Dream & Tricky Stewert, Jermaine Dupri, Johnta Austin and Brian Michael Cox.

Now, hitmaker Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins can be added to the list of collaborators on the project.

Full story after the jump…

Writing on Twitter today, Rowland said:

————————————–

Needless to say, this is perhaps the most exciting tidbit to emerge from the production process of the album – at least for yours truly. For the longest, I’ve salivated at the prospect of Darkchild hooking Ms. Kelly up with a solo ‘Lose My Breath’-esque track or something to the effect of Janet’s ‘Feedback’ – two of his most stand-out efforts in recent years.

This incarnation of the album, which I suspect was sneakily re-started from scratch (at least for the US market), is shaping up to be quite the winner. At least on paper, at this point. Roll on 2011.

Randomness: I wonder whose cutting these cheques for these A-list producers all of a sudden (Kelly? The label? Both?). Whatever the case, if there’s any justice in the world, it will pay-off.

The UK (Dance/Pop/Urban) version of the album – featuring production from the likes of David Guetta, Rico Love, Jim Jonsin, and Andre Merritt, is still slated for release on November 29th.

  18. TEAM KELLY (ROWLAND) October 14, 2010

Lawd! Let me tell you that Kelly wouldn’t be waisting all this money on the producers if they weren’t in there making hits! I think “I’M THAT CHICK” is just a taste of what we should expect! THATS WHY GROWN WOMAN doesn’t have a video yet. They are scrapping the song like A. Keys did with out it in a love song… Know yo info people…

  19. TEAM KELLY (ROWLAND) October 14, 2010

    *put

  20. TEAM GAGA October 14, 2010

CORRECTION BUGSY: DARKCHILD LAST BIGGEST HIT IS “TELEPHONE”. YOU GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT. THE MONSTERS ARE EXCITED ABOUT KELLY ROWLAND PROJECT. BRING IT ON!

  21. royalkev October 14, 2010

Is anyone really using Darkchild anymore? Brandy gave him a pink slip, Janet must have scrapped the songs they’ve done together earlier this year and if Bey used him it’s probably filler on the album. I’m sure Dream landed her first single. Kelly is still all over the place. I do hope that her dance album sees some success overseas though.

And the purpose of this post was…..

  23. getting_licked_out October 14, 2010

urgh! They better not be giving her none of cicis number 1s!!!!! (no sarcasm)

  24. Queen B Stan October 14, 2010

I’ve been a DC fan since forever…but I have lost a bit of interest in this album. I think Kelly is doing the right thing by re-doing the US album. She should’ve never released those videos, but in retrospect at least she could see that those tracks were not hot enough. Commander was okay, but she needs a certified banger. I think Kelly is talented, but she hasn’t found her niche yet. She’s working with top producers because she still got some of that DC money in the bank. Lawd knows she didn’t make nothing off those solo projects (no shade, but you know it’s true).

  25. KELENDRIA ROWLAND October 14, 2010

BeYAWNce, Haga, Rhitardna, S****** WATCH OUT!!!!!

The Queen Ms Kelly is coming!!

Commander was the biggest song of 2010! Commander made the biggest impact.

    WATCH OUT!

  26. Jamie October 14, 2010

If you don’t have anything NICE to say about Kelly why even THINK about reading the article–let alone reply to it? This mess has gotten really old. (Smelly Flopland, she can’t get a hit, she’s in Bee’ shadow etc.) I mean, come harder!!! Haters, ya’ll don’t have any lives…kids don’t even hate like that–just coming up with invalid reasons to hate on a person is just blatant stupidity. The age bracket has to be 18 and above which means we have grown men and women sitting at a computer with nothing better to do but hate. Go to school and get that GED, or college and get a degree because if you had one, you wouldn’t have time to be just on the computer hating. It’s always the same ones so you know who you are.

  27. Rudeboi October 14, 2010

How can Kelly be a flop, when she had worldwide #1 WLTO and intriduce Guetta to the US, now everybody has a song with David.

Commander is the s*** ! top ten hit in the UK and still sitting at # 12 on the dance chart after 20 weeks. It was never releaseed in t he US but yet it was the #1 most requested song on Z100 and countless othere radio station.

    ummmmmmmm where is the flop??????

  28. Kicktheeardrum October 14, 2010

I feel bad because she is looking high and low for a hit, I hope that she is able to find one….

i think the reason why kelly rolland hasn’t achieved great solo success (as one would anticipate being a member of destiny’s child) is the fact that she has become lost in a sea of other rnb pop female artist. the market has become so saturated since the release of her debut album. i feel that she should have stayed with the sound she was going with on her debut album which was her most successl and enjoyable imo. if it aint broke why fix it.
she should have stuck to her her own niche sound, but it seems like she is so desperate for a hit that she is just giving the people what she thinks will sell (e.g pop dance album for u.k and urban pop for u.s market) than carving out a niche market and primary fan base that she as an artist can sell to (before trying to reach the masses). trying to be a jack of all trades leaves you a master of none nana always says.

  30. NikkiIsChillin October 14, 2010

I aint mad at her. Kelly still has my support. Do you Kelly!!!

  31. WorldWideWaddie.com October 14, 2010

All these delays makes the anticipation dead on arrival.

  32. Robier October 14, 2010

  33. Avenger October 14, 2010
