A new track from Ciara surfaced today. ‘Turn It Up’ features Usher and is supposedly included on her new album, ‘Basic Instinct’, which hits stores on December 14th. Give a listen below:
This is a fun and catchy club song with a colourful melody. Nonetheless, the blatant similarities between this and Usher’s ‘More’ (from ‘Raymond vs Raymond’) are hard to ignore.
Moreover, the record lacks the bass that we have come to expect from an uptempo Dance number of Ciara’s and she frankly does not have the vocal power or range to carry a song without it. It’s a good song but in no way life changing.

I agree with the previous posts, i like it. It’s very catchy and not as repetitive as Gimmie Dat. This is a potential hit single and I actually prefer this over gimmie Dat (evne though the Gimmie dat video was hot) Imagine the video for this. Her and usher, tearing it down.

You don’t know how long we’ve been wanting a Ciara, Usher track. I thought we were going to get it with “Hot Tottie.” Anyways this song is average like all her releases so much…with these 2 on a song, you would think they would come up with something MUCH better. I’m disappointed. 🙁

I F****** LOVE how you tried to use some musical/compositional analysis in an attempt to grant your opinion more credibility *rolls eyes*.
In order for her to salvage her album, this has to be a single. And it has to be a well promoted single. This could really help her out, because as a consumer the only songs that I’ve liked so far from this effort has been ride, and that didn’t really do well for her. This could really be a hit for her if done and executed well.

Good descent song with moderate hit potential. My issue is if this will be included on the “Basic Instinct” project how will it tie in with her new urban sound she has already established? This is more like a techno dance song so I don’t think it would gel in with what Ciara said her latest effort stands for.

Um…it’s not bad, not great, but not bad. It definitely sounds unfinished though.
It does remind me a lot of ‘More’, especially with Usher on it. Obviously Ciara doesn’t have the best vocals, but I don’t think this is the type of track that is supposed to show case vocals, it’s a dance track. Honestly, I am not too impressed with Usher’s vocals on here either. *shrugs*It’s cute and catchy and I hear it getting some plays in the club. She is really gonna have to have a hot video to go wtih this.
I’m rooting for CiCi, but she is really gonna have to step it up before the release date. Hopefully she can get in some appearances and hot performance before the release date. Is she scheduled to perform at the AMA?? Anybody??

…I AGREE…She really did sound like Kelly Rowland LOL…And people sit up here and say Keri’s Singles Flop yet BOTH of her Singles have Charted higher than Ciara’s Singles from Basic Instinc besides “Ride”…….
And I dare for a Ciara Stan to say Keri only sells because of features cause MOST of Ciara Songs have Guest appearences..But when it comes to doing a song by herself she drops the BALL ! ! ! !
This song sounds like Usher’s “More” with a hint of Kelly Rowlands “On & On”, with that being said I like Usher’s “More” and based on the overwhelming similarity I find myself liking this song. I will however, not buy “Basic Instinct” because apart from “Ride” all of Ci-Ci’s other singles have been a hot steaming pile of dog sh*t.

I don’t like this. I am tired of the dance/techno craze & it seems like both artists were late hopping onto it. I actually liked Speechless. I am waiting for someone to invent a “new” sound or something b/c this is not it. Can we please be inspired by lol 70’s and 60’s music? They’ve already gone back to the 80’s with autotune crap and whatnot.
CiCi has a nice song here, I see it being played in the club, she coming along just find, plus she doesn’t have a big machine behind her promoting her. I wish she and Chris Brown could have collaborated together on her album.

She said in an interview that she was going to take back to her roots (R&B, Crunk music) this sounds like some more Fantasy Ride BS, how many more songs on the radio sounds like this. It also sounds like a black eye peas record and Usher on this track don’t make it better. Basic Instinct is really turning to be a FLOP to me, I was really rooting for but now I’m Speechless like her. Enough is Enough Clara push back.
