  12. Edison Dreams October 24, 2010

If thats not demonic, then what is it? Look down at your history book because looking up is obviously not a good look for you……#thatisall **runs back to prayer closet while watching my back**

  18. KAT DELUNA FAN October 24, 2010

The visual was amazing ! brillant
but that’s about it .an half hour is way too much
I appreciate the work but this got the “avatar” effect i.e :” great but not that great”

  19. MAY October 24, 2010

ehm despite the fact that i personally feel this isnt demonic,i do know for a fact that this is not african at all,i am ghanaian born and bred. so i know what is african n wat isnt, i realised when i went to college here in the U.S that you people are learning of an Africa and a culture that does not exist. So dont act like you are a know all EDISON cos u r not

  20. Keesha October 24, 2010

I’m watching it right now. It’s cool so far.

  21. Chulo October 24, 2010

    Brilliant

  22. Mr. T October 24, 2010

Genius …… It was long as hell…but very entertaining…and very different. Loves it

  23. Edison Dreams October 24, 2010

@ May A lot of it is based from African culture.. the movie revolves around the Pheonix story which is mythological story that derives from Egypt which is in Africa if im not mistaken!.. also KANYE said it himself live on Mtv.com when he was interviewd by Sway after the premiere … but he also mentioned that the video is not abut race, and that he didnt sell his soul!

@ May. Africa is a huge continent which consists of many other countries with a richer culture then the small country you’re from…. i guess sine u didnt see anyone barefoot with a bone in their nose, it was hard for u to equate this video to anything African. I feel sorry for your ignorance… Good Night !

  24. Shaytan October 24, 2010

    Was that Rihanna? No Shade

  25. MAY October 24, 2010

eish such a huge abomination look at you tslking like you know more than me
    such an IDIOT
and you are persisting to lol
the fact that the pheonix is related to egypt doesnt mean that its a huge part of african culture as a whole dummy
like you said africa has lots n lots of diffrent cultures
n who told u bones n being barefoot has anything to do with our culture
    you are so lost
i just cant stop laughing about how u r trying to correct me

  26. MAY October 24, 2010

n fyi ur the fact that u r tryin to compare cultural diversity with a size of a country in africa just further prooves how stupid u r,all african countries no matter how small they are have very diverse n complex cultures, much more than you can ever think of
n f y i EGYPT although in africa is not really considered african in africa since they prefer to call themselves middle eastern or arab

  27. OB October 24, 2010

**walks out prayer closet soak and wet with holy water, dripping** Werk!! @May, I’m Nigerian so you know I am loving how your educating @Edison for the ancestors of Africa. Weeeerk!!

Africa is a continent like North America which consist of Canada and the United States.

Nigeria, Ghana, etc are countries just like the US is a country and within each country are states just like the US.

**looks down** **wondering to myself why this is so relevant** **walks out the room slowly backwards** #PleaseJudgeMe

  28. Keesha October 24, 2010

I like it a lot. Kanye is very talented and creative. 🙂

  29. Dion-Ish October 24, 2010

Lady Gaga need take notes from Kanye. If your gonna have me sit through a video for more than 10 minutes it must have substance ..Yea i said it. *Shrugs*

  30. Real Tea October 24, 2010

    @May
You are too ignorant. This video clearly has “African” culture in it. Egypt is in Africa dumbass….. How can you argue with Geography? You haven’t seen exactly what Kanye’s seen, this is his vision not yours, so why make a fool of yourself and try to correct something that’s already corrected. #Leave it alone

  31. Keesha October 24, 2010

@Don-ish I totally agree with you. Telephone was TRASH.

  32. nickalus Randle October 24, 2010

    KANYE is a beast !!!

  33. LOL October 24, 2010

Keesia ^ GAGA IS TRASH PERIOD DONT KNOW WHY ANYONE LISTENS TO HERGENERIC POP MUSC WIT HER Quentin Tarantino-eske videos !!!!!

  34. Gilberto October 24, 2010

    Dion-Ish,
I agree with you. Telephone is okay, though, it has got a good story. But we can’t say the same thing about Alejandro. She tried for this one, but it didn’t work. It has looked like she used her good ideas on her last videos and just copied Madonna’s past work on Alejandro.
This video is amazing. I like the fact Kanye is doing his thing, he isn’t doing crap songs/videos like Eminem, Jay-Z or Eminem.
P.S. He can’t act. He should have just shut up.

  35. McStephanton October 24, 2010

I love OB for that comment LMFAO

@Edison, it’s kinda badmind when you say “there are other African countries with a much richer culture than your little country” Like dude…WTF?

I’m Ghanaian myself and every country in Africa has a RICH culture. Africa isn’t a hierarchy; it’s not a thing where you gotta compare countries as to who has the best culture, wtf? We’re all equal. You probably know nothing about Ghana to make such an Ignorant statement.

@May the fact that Arabs live in Egypt doesn’t automatically rule them out as not being African. Arabs colonized Eygpt (as well as Libya, Morocco and Algeria) which is why they are here to this day; The Ancient Egyptians were black. I thought that was common knowledge :S

  36. Cory October 24, 2010

I WISH EVERYONE WOULD STOP ARGUING, WHAT IS THE WORLD COMING TO WITH ALL THIS HATRED. JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL. I ENJOYED THE VIDEO AND SELITA LOOKED STUNNING.

  37. Edison Dreams October 24, 2010

@May. When the story of the pheonix was created Egypt had not yet been invaded by the arabs yet, hence the people were black. Egypt at that time was called Kemet… Many people dont consider Egypt “African” anymore because the White man has brain washed you into thinking that Egyptians were arab light skinned people by showing u people like Cleopatra who was mixed and by that time the Egyptian dynasty was over…. 80% of the pictures on the walls of the pyramids depict dark skinned people with dark skinned Pharaohs… so dont believe the hype….

and lets be honest ghana/nigeria have yet to make the cutural impact that Egypt has. Im sure your country has done great things but no where near what Egypt has done.

its sad that youre from Africa and you’re more brainwashed then the people in the U.S.

Read the story of the Pheonix then you’ll see how it correlates to the video. Better yet, go see Kanye explain the video him self in a 30min interview ith Sway on Mtv.com… that should shut u up…

    @OB ur Homo!…

  38. Dion-Ish October 24, 2010

    @GILBERTO

THANK YOUUU …IM SAYIN. HEr whole image/style/career is a replication of Madonna and her stans have the NERVE to say shes the New Queen of Pop and s***. Um NO! you cant outdo the original. Madonna’s been doing it strong for 25yrs ..Lets see if Gaga can last 5 first!!

    @KEESHA

INDEED. Tho i dont think it was terrible, it wasn’t what it was made it out to be. It wasn’t EPIC it wasn’t Ground Breaking or nothing people claim for it to be. If you want Groundbreaking Epic videos look up MJ’s Thriller or Madonna’s Frozen, Human Nature, Like A Prayer etc… A Great Groundbreaking Video isn’t Forced…It Just is.

  39. MAY October 24, 2010

@OB AND MCSTEPHENSON THANK YOU THESE PPL ARE REALLY FUNNY
WHEN I SAY EGYPT IS NOT CONSIDERED AFRICA BY AFRICANS
I DONT MEAN ITS NOT ON THE AFRICAN CONTINENT
WHAT I MEAN IS THAT THEY USUALLY DONT INVOLVE THEMSELVES WITH THE REST OF THE CONTINENT.NOT JUST EGYPT ALL OF NORTH AFRICA
THEY OFTEN ASSOCIATE THEMSELVES WITH THE MIDDLE EAST
SO MOST PPL IN AFRICA DONT CONSIDER THEM AS ONE OF US
AND STOP TALKING LIKE THE PHEONIX IS A MAJOR PART OF AFRICAN CULTURE COS APART FROM EGYPT IT HONESTLY ISNT
AND LASTLY PLS PLS STOP ACTING LIKE U KNOW MORE THAN AFRICANS IT REALLY DOES MAKE U LOOK FOOLISH

  40. JOE FRANCO October 24, 2010

    genius

  41. ama October 24, 2010

UHMM EDISON I THINK U R BEING PRETTY SILLY,
I AM IVORIAN AND I THINK I FET WERE MAY IS COMING FROM
THE WEST OFTEN ATTRIBUTES THINGS TO AFRICA AS A WHOLE FORGETTING THAT AFRICA IS CONTINENT N NOT A NATION,ONE THAT IS VERY DIVERSE
AND I SERIOUSLY KNOW FOR A FACT THAT PHEONIX’S HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH SUB SAHARAN AFRICAN CULTURE.EGYPT AND NORTH AFRICA MAYBE
BUT THE MAJORITY OF THE CONTINENT NO
YOU CA ASK ANY AFRICAN (NOT NORTH AFRICAN) IF THEY EVEN KNOW WHAT A PHEONIX IS THEY WILL TELL U PLAIN NO

  42. the kiddz October 24, 2010

I don’t even know what to say

  43. Read My Poker Faces October 24, 2010

I was looking forward to this video, I was left disappointed.

First off, Kanye’s acting was horrendous. I literally start laughing the first talking scene, like seriously.

Secondly, I felt this film was nothing but another pretentious expenditure of Kanye’s ego! I’m sorry, and this is coming from a bit of a Kanye fan. I understand some of the points, but there isn’t anything necessarily deep about it….it just felt like a bunch of nonsensical imagery thrown together in order to come off as meaningful and deep.

Thirdly, Was Nicki Minaj or anyone else really needed to narrate it. I mean I kinda did like how she told the story, but I felt it was irrelevant.

But on a postive note the cinematography was on point and the main girl was beautiful.

  44. Miss Chick Boom October 24, 2010

To be honest I didn’t even make it through the whole video. I was watching it on MTV like when is this going to end. It was alright but it wasn’t all that.

  45. Jermany October 24, 2010

what is all the hype..yall trippin..dis ish hella boring…ZzZZzzz….NEXT!!

  46. Landen October 24, 2010

    This Cuts So Deep!

  47. True Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Blue October 24, 2010

I was watching the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time countdown on VH1. Then in between commercials, I switched over to MTV to watch Kanye’s video. I didn’t feel like I missed out on much.

    @ Dion-ish:

“Telephone” may have been over-the-top, but at least Gaga has enough sense to not make a 40 minute video when she knows nobody’s gonna sit through all of it. And in its condensed form, it’s actually a very good video.

  48. Jordan October 24, 2010

yeah this s*** is long lol

    very avant-garde and interestingly boring

  49. Edison Dreams October 24, 2010

like i said Read the story of the Pheonix then you’ll see how it correlates to the video. Better yet, go see Kanye explain the video him self in a 30min interview ith Sway on Mtv.com… that should shut u up…

  50. Edison Dreams October 24, 2010

i do know more then a lot of Africans. A lot of you are illiterate which is why the white man is able to make u think the way you do. if u wanna hide the truth from black people, just put it in a book! smdh*

    @ama

ijust because everyone doesnt know what a pheonix is doesnt means its not a part of African culture… a lot people dont know about the moors but that doesnt mean they’re not a part of african history… i dont have a problem with africans but after May said “i went to college here in the U.S that you people are learning of an Africa and a culture that does not exist. So dont act like you are a know all EDISON cos u r not” i felt compelled 2 rebuttal! I’ve been to Egypt, Kenya & i lived in South Africa for a year. im an army brat. Im very studied in history. so anything i say on here can be backed up with sources. i think im the only who has stated facts and not opinions….

  51. antertain October 24, 2010

    Visual Artistry is amazing.

Dancers of Ballet were seriously good with using other dance genre mixed with Ballet

  57. TeAM WeeZY October 24, 2010

Don’t have time to watch this video so I’ll watch it later.
    @True Blue

What did you think of that 100 greatest artists list? I watched it a few weeks ago and I didn’t even want to watch the whole thing because I was getting so damn upset! That was one of the crappiest list I’ve ever seen! I was like ‘seriously’ every 5 minutes! That’s why I despise critics!

  58. gdhg October 24, 2010

  60. elleuk October 24, 2010

@ read my pocket faces, you just said the words that myself as a kanye fan
was thinking all along. the video was quite self indulgent and pretencious and wasn’t executed well enough to really hold my attention maybe its one of those videos that will grow on me.
the runway video was great though, but the rest was quite wishy washy. i respect him as an artist, but i think that he could have created more than just pretty shots and a tale of beastiality to illustrate the flaws of the modern world. (which i think was the ultimate message of the clip)

random thought, how stunning did selita ebanks look in the video, her beauty really shone. makes it harder for me to believe she was once going to be mrs nick cannon.

  61. Diane October 24, 2010

    BRAVO!

  62. FUTURESTARdelux October 24, 2010

wow actually kind of liked it and i thought it was just gonna be a 34 minute drag lol.
Iagree that neither Kanye or the “Phoenix” are that good at acting but the colours and visuals were pretty awsome, especially the scene with the marching band and “All of the lights” that was my favourite part and all the colours were awsome.
I could have done without the Ballerina part but otherwise it was pretty good, definately better than any of Gaga’s faux artistic video’s.

The thing for me is that Kanye is innovative in his field of music so when he makes these crazy video’s it’s like well he can be justified because he is making something in hip-hop that nobody else has done but Gaga is not innovative at all really, she just makes the same pop as everybody else and dresses it up with video’s full of stollen imagery.

  63. Tae October 24, 2010

This is so illuminati… lol the Phoenix story may be an Egyptian thing but the Phoenix is one of the symbols of the illuminati… and it is even on the back of the US money with all of the other illuminati/masonic symbols. This is demonic. And he even pulled a demon from his chest like come on….

  64. Educated Diva October 24, 2010

Great video! The best music video I’ve ever seen from a rapper and artist! This has surpassed MJ’s videos. I’ve always been a huge Kanye West fan but this video is just amazing! I cannot wait to play this cd in my car!

  65. intellione October 24, 2010

This dude is an arrogant p**** yet very CREATIVE, i mean he debuted the video on 3 different channels at once BET, MTV, and vh1. He did followup interviews with ROCSI On BET and i guess on MTV as well with the FAT old guy who wears caps all the time. MY question is why was all the necessary for 1 long azzz boring video about a story that has been told Time and time AGain????? the story of the phoenix is SO OLD!! and everybody knows it already so whats the big deal about kanye rehashing it???

  66. O.B. October 24, 2010

@TAE Thank you!!! Tell the truth, shame the devil….**fanning myself with my big church fan, smdh**

  67. raraskils October 25, 2010

all of this could have easily been condensed into 3 minutes, and the essence of the video would not have been lost. i cannot believe i wasted my 34 minutes of my life watching this. x___X

i feel like kanye was trying to prove that he is more artistic than gaga just cuz he has a longer video. oh gaga has a 10 minute video, well let me quadruple that, and make it 40 minutes long! but he forgot that quality is not determined by quantity. the main idea of the story could have been easily told in a smaller time frame, in fact, the long length made me not want to watch the video anymore, and i will never watch this video more than once because it is just not worth it. If you are gonna make a movie 35 minutes long, then you should have a more complicated plot going on throughout the movie to keep me engaged.

  68. raraskils October 25, 2010

For all of you who say that this movie is excellent, tell me honestly, do you ever see yourself watching this video all the way through ever again???

    i doubt it.

  69. WorldWideWaddie.com October 25, 2010

    EPIC. SPEECHLESS. DEMONIC???

  70. KD October 25, 2010

    I tried…but 35min for a music video, no maam.

  71. KD October 25, 2010

I can’t wait for nxt yrs music awards, I hope this video gets nominated for video of the year or best male video & I hope that it loses just to see his reaction.

  72. J_ Nova October 25, 2010

Putting this on my iPod so I can watch… Very indie feel to it. Raw Emotion and all. Music was great!
