Anywho, I saw her today, the first performance of ‘Roman’s Revenge’ was pretty decent. She had a lot of energy on that one. That was annoying what she did at the end though. She always has to be so extra. Ugh!
‘Right Thru Me’ was kinda lackluster. You could barely hear her and she really shouldn’t need a backing track when you are a rapper. I mean, really Nicki?? She really does need to step her performance game up. She is like the rap version of Rihanna, she just walks back and forth on stage. Really boring.
The audience was so freaking loud they were drowning her out. I remember when she was trying to answer a question and they started doing the verse to ‘Five Star Chick’ and they would NOT shut up! Even after they asked her too! Ugh! They were so annoying.
Still haven’t decided if I am gonna buy the album or not. I really like her style and personality, and I have a lot of respect for her, especially after the interview she did with Angie Martinez, but I still haven’t been able to really embrace her music. I like most of her features on other artist songs better than I like her own songs. ‘ Roman’s Revenge’ and ‘Right Thru Me’ are the only ones that I have been able to tolerate from her. *shrugs*
‘Monster’ was my favorite verse from her but that’s on Kanye’s album. *Kanye shrug*
That’s what happens when SB is not on stage to protect Nicki. That girl didn’t want to spank or squeeze the ass, she wanted to massage it. See what Rihanna started?
I think most of the people saying her album is wack haven’t listened to it or people who don’t like her anyways. I agree that it fails in certain areas but overall it is a great piece of work. I really don’t get why people want her to be the typical female New York Emcee when indeed this album does show she is talented. And weren’t you people saying she lacks substance well on this album she just gave full of substance with her lyrics. But then again I guess people were expecting her to take the s** sells approach or the hard approach. The only thing I have a problem is that it should’ve been more of a R&B approach than a POP approach if she wasn’t going to go full out Hip Hop. I think that would’ve gave the songs even more power.

Yes, Pink Friday is very POP heavy. The only R&B track IMO is the bonus track, “Blow Ya Mind” with SB. That’s HOT! But, to Nicki’s credit, Pink Friday shows that she has definitely grown lyrically. The album is solid. I guess I understand that she is hanging with a Miami crew and living in California. If she were signed by a New York label, she would have definitely given us more R&B. However, the more I listen, the more I enjoy the complete album. I also really like Roman’s Revenge, Blazin and I’m the Best. The songs I like the least are Last Chance and the bonus track Falling like Dominoes. I would love to hear Missy remix Muny.
Oh yeah, I like Dear Old Nicki a lot.

@Yas I agree with you. The CD could have used more rnb soul. I kind of wish Kanye would take her under his wing and produce her next album. I know hell bring the absolute best out of her. In saying that the CD is a good peice of work. It proves shes a good artist. She also brought some inspiration on there.
I love “Here I am,” the song you posted and “Save Me”. Dear Old Nicki is nice and “Blazin,” “Im The best,” “Right thru me” “Moment for life” Did it on em is hilarious. If you really sit down and listen the song can be played straight through with no skips. Except for Your love and Check it out which we already heard anyway.
@star what do you mean she has no stage presence? Have you seen rappers perform? Most of them just throw there hands in the air and pull their pants up on stage. Nicki adds more excitement than the typical rapper. She worked the stage with no props, no dancers. She has enough stage presence. I think some of you forget shes a rapper. You can tell she can really sing too.

This chick had the nerve to agree to the Lauryn Hill comparison and she even said her album is similar to the Miseducation. Her music is garbage at best (98 percent looks, 2 percent talent). Lauryn was charismatic; entertaining without sounding corny, intellectual, visionary, thinking outside of the box, far ahead of her time, far superior than her peers and very musical, that is why no other artist that came after her managed to surpass anything she has ever done musically. Nikki does not possess any of these qualities; she has an ego and does not respect her predecessors). Nikki will never make an impact or be respected like Lauryn, her uneducated fans can hate me all they want but truth is truth.

LAURYN HILL DID THESE NUMBERS WITHOUT BEING OVER EXPOSED OR A FEATURE ARTIST FOR MAINSTREAM ARTISTS. YOU HAVE TO CREATE TIMELESS MUSIC AND CLASSICS THAN BE ALL OVER THE POP CHARTS IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED GREAT.

Pink Friday has been on heavy rotation. Save Me, Fly, Moment 4 Life, Here I Am, Blazin, Super Bass, Roman’s Revenge. All pure fire. The album is a lot more introspective and thoughtful than I thought it would be. It is so much better than I expected, and that is coming from a fan.
I really need the skeptics to listen to the above mentioned songs, and then come to a conclusion.
