Keri Hilson sent shockwaves across the internet upon debuting the racy video for new single ‘The Way You Love Me’ on Sunday. Since then, opinion has been markedly split; with many believing the singer-songwriter to have taken the sexy concept too far, with others feeling it just what the 27 year old needed to elevate her self to that all-important next level.
Providing clarity on the matter are our friends over at Hip-Hollywood, who were on the set of the Laurieann Gibson directed shoot. While I’m keen to see what flavour consequence this will have for Hilson (be it positive or negative), I’d be lying if I said I haven’t both the video and song repeat since Sunday. A testament no doubt to the power of shock and awe.

i have to admit the song has grown on me since seeing the video. She definitely shocked me with this, but I do think she has stepped her game up. The dancing was good…she looks great! Laurieanne did a good job directing this. Everyone needs to stop acting like they’ve never said a curse word, or had s**, or have talked about s**. People really need to get over themselves and let her do whatever she wants to do with her music and her career.

i love everything in this video!
Keri is a beautiful girl, but if this is what Laurieann has to offer then her career as a director needs to be cut short. The concept they are getting at seems great, but this was poor execution.
One… the cut scene was great, although Keri is definitely no actor in this as I found her nod to her other single quite corny and the likewise lame dialogue from the other members was lame and corny as well.
Two.. I like the freeze frames they did which reminds me of Tarantino movies and likewise the rest of the movies in that kung fu genre. However, it seems it was a waste as the “characters” in her movie had LITTLE to do with the actual video itself.
Basically, what we got was a min and a half of an interesting prelude and then 4 mins of c****** popping that had nothing to do with the interlude and another thirty seconds of a likewise cutscene that was disconnected from the interlude and the c****** popping period.
What would’ve been better is if they interrupted the dancing with actual footage of them completing the mission.. car chases and whatnot or how she was actually going to capture her ‘man’. Instead, they fell flat and only resulted in Keri seemingly coming off like a 2 dolla ho and receiving backlash like Kiely Williams did for ‘Spectacular’.
Keri can do what the hell she wants….It’s no different from Beyonce’s “Video Phone” And countless other videos…..And Rihanna…..She looks GREAT….I love it 🙂
