R&B singer Ameriie has maintained a relatively low profile since the release and subsequent tanking of her last studio album ‘In Love & War’.
Back with new sound (and an additional ‘i’ to her name), the 32 year old stunner is hoping to impact the charts with new single ‘Outside Your Body’ – a snippet of which surfaced moments ago.
If honesty is the order of the day, yours truly laughed (uncontrollably) on first listen. Here’s hoping the full version is more a hit than it is a punchline.

My All time favorite Amerie records are :”Someone Up There” and “Just Like Me” it pains me to see that she have to go this route. Amerie was know for her aggression on the track know all we get is Yippy Kye YO, Yippy Kye Yo. Sound like it should be the theme song to Nick Jr show Kai Lan.
I’ve always liked Amerie – or Ameriie(why????…just why?). I always felt like she was one hit away from making it big. I think she just needed insight from an out sider that knows music. Rich Harrison was an integral part of her early success, but she didn’t branch out in time to save her career. She was stuck in a box and made a ton of aggressive records that all sounded the same. She have really nice softer tones that she never played with enough. She doesn’t have to follow trends and do techno or dance music (because this is wrapping up and won’t be around for even another 2 years). She should stick to radio friendly music with cross over appeal. She was at her best when she did “1 thing” and a song called “I just died” were examples of some of the main ingredients that should have been a part of her formula that she didn’t build on. She needs to reinvent herself and not make desperate attempts to find a generic hit. I wish her luck and I hope that she makes a comeback somehow.

I am >< with RoyalKev with regard to A. The only thing I disagree slightly with you on is in regards to the singles that have been released with her albums after Touch. Not being an industry insider but it seems like artists don’t have much power in terms of what gets released first so maybe she tried to fight for the more mid-tempo or ballad singles whereas the label felt that she could strike gold if another single similar to “1 Thing” was released first.
Personally from her Because I Love It album, that single, “Paint Me Over” was a standout and on In Love & War they really should’ve given “Red Eye” or “The Flowers” both ballads a chance.
I like that fact that she’s trying something different with this track because the one thing I’m always sure of with her albums is that she WILL take chances and give me enough satisfying tracks so that I continue to be a fan.

I need Amerie to go back to her roots and what she is known for doing. I know people grow and change but I hear no progression in this. Rich Harrison and her need to make amends and stop this foolishness. He’s not doing anything of relevance right now and neither is she. The go-go elements mixed with R&B is Amerie’s niche and rightfully so because her throaty vocals matched the raw sound of the live instrumentation included on most of her earlier records. If you do this for the love of music, Amerie stop trying to be trendy and drop the goddamn additional i out of your name.
