Alexandra Burke Performs ‘The Silence’ On Alan Titchmarsh

Published: Thursday 16th Dec 2010 by Sam

Pop force Alexandra Burke took to the stage on The Alan Titchmarsh Show today to perform new single ‘The Silence’.

Sung entirely live, peep Ms. Burke’s spine-tingling showing after the jump…

Via Alexandra Burke US:

Incredible!

In an era where Pro Tools and Autotune rule the roost, it’s so refreshing to see an act with such raw talent rising through the ranks. Alexandra is the embodiment of world class, hence here’s hoping she gets the recognition she deserves when she hits the US next year.

I’m so tired of her album Overcome being pushed back. I just wish that the executives over at SiCo push out a premature pop album that will have mediocre success. Alexandra definitely has the gritty soulful vocals, but Simon is silly enough to give her water down poptart material that will make her appeal to the masses, “the masses” being white people. At this point, I’m getting highly irritated with her upcoming/ in-progress album being shelved. She disappear soon enough if her team keeps this up. Thank Gawd for Leona, she won’t let me down. Her third album is scheduled to drop in the winter quarter of 2011. 🙂 Werk!

Let me stop being shady. Alexandra is a highly anticipated artist that will definitely garner success of here in the US, because as seen in the clip above, the girl can sang. “The Silence” has the musical essence of Beyoncé’s “Halo,” the big belted notes, the smoldering dark tone and infectious percussion claps…without a doubt, this is the best song on Overcome (with the exception of “They Don’t Know”). I love refreshingly melodic Alexandra is as a vocalist, creating different riffs and runs that are quick and effortless. She is a star. 😉

Alexandra always kills it live so props to her for that. She is the UK’s equivalent of Toni Braxton, she is a real R&B/soul diva and that is what she needs to be marketed as, not as some cheap cheesy pop Beyonce rip off.

Sort out homegirl’s weave and get her some real soulful music where she can use her voice to her full extent (like she does on this track, not songs like “Start Without You” etc.) and she will have a better shot at cracking any market.

    AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope she get’s many No.1’s in America and over in the uk as she is very talented.

One way we can help is buy buying her records, without us, we will be seeing the likes of Kesha/rihanna/jls/CHERLYCOLE/JASON dorulo and many average act take her spot.

Such a beautiful voice!!! Never really listen to her music but I love this song!!I She has the potential to break into the US market!!! This song can do well in the US!!! Her and Leona are the best X-Factor vocalists so far!!!:-*

  15. LANDEN’S FURY! December 17, 2010

I think we now have a contender running against her performance

of the silence of the paul o’grady show.

    @ Timmy, you’re so right!

Alexandra is the british version of Toni Braxton. She needs to sing R&B/Soul songs! Give her that material you c*** Simon!
Her soulful vocals are made for it.

  17. Merrychristmas December 17, 2010

+ Alexandra is one of the best vocalists in the world right now!

    Simply breathtaking

  19. Dave December 17, 2010

    Alexandra is a BEAST!

  20. antertain December 17, 2010

    The Beast (aka Vocal Beauty)

Love her when she siongs these ballads.
I glad she mixed her album up somewhat but i think it should’ve had a few more soulful records on there.

Powerful SANGING is what won her the x-factor and she can kill it in america with live vocals like that.

Global talent so i hope they do market her right in U.S and over the world

  21. JASMINE24 December 17, 2010

THIS GIRL CAN SAAAAAAANG!!!!!!! I CAN’T WAIT FOR HER TO COME TO AMERICA!!!!!!!

THATS IF HER PROMOTION AND MARKETING SYSTEM DOES WELL!!!!!!! HER VOICE IS BEYOND AMAZING, AND TO FIND A TRUE SINGER SUCH AS HER IN THIS DAY AND AGE (Ones that are famous anyway) IS VERY RARE……. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE……. I HOPE THEY GIVE HER THE CORRECT SONGS, SHE IS A BEAST!!!!!!!

    NONETHELESS, I’LL SUPPORT HER ANYWAY…….

  22. Mike December 18, 2010

@ Kahari – Leona’s album will be out early summer, with a new single in Spring, she confirmed. 🙂

Anyways, my favorite song off the album (still would’ve preferred Perfect for the single though) and this was great vocally, especially since she was apparently ill. The UK seem to be indifferent to her and ballads though, looking at the ‘success’ of this song. It’s not like it couldn’t have done well – her album hasn’t sold as much as her fans like to believe. It was moderately successful, but it still did well to say the least.

Hope she has better material for album 2, but I won’t get my hopes up. And I also guess she’ll take the cheap way into launching in the US, by performing on the US XFactor? <_<

  23. Scott December 18, 2010

How is the UK indifferent to Alex, stop being a leona loon Mike and tell the truth.Alex has had three No 1 singles and sold 4 million singles and albums in the UK, Ireland and Europe and that is in 2 years.Epic US will launch her American campaign and she will do brilliantly there.

  24. Loren December 19, 2010

No, Mike those of us here in the U.K. are most certainly not indifferent to Alex. Thank you for putting some facts out there, Scott.

As I read it, apparently Scyo didn’t want The Silence to be released, at all, but Alex pushed for it to be put out. It is only available on download. I’m glad that she went to bat for this track, for it surely shows what she can do with her voice.

This girl can truly sing; I’m so glad that she wasn’t deterred when she first applied to be on X Factor, at the age of 16, didn’t make the final cut, but came back for some more 3 years later.

Patience, all! She’s U.S. bound, next year! I’m looking forward to Alex’s second album, and Leona’s third album, both of which are due out in 2011.

Finally, I admire Toni a great deal, but Alexandra is not the British version of her, or any other singer, American, or otherwise.

Alexandra is just Alexandra, and no comparison to anyone else, is needed or required!

  25. Amato December 22, 2010

In love with her voice right now!
