Alexandra Performs ‘The Silence’ On ‘X-Factor’

Alexandra Burke hit the stage on the ‘X-Factor’ eliminations show just moments ago. The former winner of the competition delivered her 1st major television performance of her new single, ‘The Silence’. Check out her rendition of the song below:

That was a powerful vocal performance. Although she was a bit pitchy at points, the magnitude of her voice cannot be denied. Burke’s tone and subtle use of vibrato are truly admirable, and she is by all means a very technical vocalist.

It’s a shame that she doesn’t sing more ballads like these. Yes her catchy Pop songs may be fun for a few listens but powerful compositions like ‘The Silence’ will be the ones to stand the test of time.

She killed that. We need more powerful brown-skin artists like her around. I hope she becomes successful in the USA.

  7. MUSIC LOVER December 5, 2010

It’s easy to see why she deserved to win X-Factor. I love ballads!

Excellent performance, for me she was the best performer by far tonight. If like you mentioned she got a bit pitchy, then I suspect it was a little bit of the nerves at being back on the XFactor stage. That apart, it was an truely amazing performance.

Will you get your facts straight…. before you got something incorrect about the number of performances Nicole’s done of Poison, and now you’re incorrect about this….

Alexandra performed The Silence on the Paul O’Grady show in 2009, so it’s not her first televised performance of the song. Link below

I see the record label is still picking material that simply doesn’t suit her voice. She’s not Leona Lewis. Her songs shouldn’t be soft ballads or upbeat pop tunes. She needs to go edgy rock. Because that’s what her voice is suited for.

    @KLG0845

u really think her label would even consider that?

all her singles have been top 10 in uk and ireland plus a few no1s..and she ang the same genres on xfactor too, what fanbase does she have in rock genre?

  17. MissImpartial December 5, 2010

She was fab. The best performer of the night. Like the fact that she was fully dressed.

  18. Dave December 6, 2010

Trent is nit picking. But, she did slay. Dead @ the stan talking about she’s not Queen Bee, clearly she’s Alexandra Burke, so of course she isn’t. & her vocal performances are not even reminiscent of Beyonce’s, her swag is a bit, but not her vocals. I am so having that Deluxe edition of her album tomorrow.

  19. Leya December 6, 2010

phenominal performance (full stop!) that was epic- worldclass!!

  20. klg0845 December 6, 2010

    @ DBOY

What fan base does she have outside of the X Factor audience? None. My comment comes from a desire to see her do well ALL OVER THE WORLD. She’s so talented. And with the material she has, she will never be as successful as she is right now. And that’s not that successful. She deserves to be a worldwide success. And the material and image just doesn’t suit her voice.

Double Platimun & 4Million records sold = Big Success for a debut album.

    Such power and control.

The only pitchy thing here was Trents comments.

I personally fast forwarded through this performance; not a big fan. I was also annoyed that due to them having 3 performances, they missed out the contestant group performance which is my favorite bit of Sundays… they should of cut Alexandra and put in the group performance… this just takes the x out of the x factor http://davidhatton1987.b*******.com/2010/11/taking-x-out-of-xfactor.html

Loved this song the first time I heard it and loved her performance of it last night (minus the lift at the end).

So glad she sung it live as well. I don’t pay for much music online, but this one I did last night. Love power ballads. I am not a fan of anything AB has released so far. The other song I have of hers is Hallelujah. I’m happy for her success but was getting increasingly annoyed at the tripe they were churning out. Well at least she hasn’t gone the route of Jamelia and 2 years strong she’s still climbing high in the charts whether I like the music released or not.

I think the vocal coach (the male one on the X Factor who sometimes wears crazy wigs) wrote this song for her.

Even though she stood still whilst singing, AB had stage presence, I wish Rebecca would take a leaf out of AB’s performance last night and actually move whilst performing and envoke some damn emotion. I couldn’t go and see Rebecca live (vocally talented or not) I would be just bored to tears.
