Chery Cole Delivers First Live Performance Of ‘The Flood’

Cheryl Cole hit the stage at the 82nd Royal Variety Performance at the London Palladium recently. The ‘X-Factor’ judge used the opportunity to deliver the 1st televised performance of her new song, ‘The Flood’. Peep the footage below:

So she basically talked her way through the entire performance and lip-synced the only somewhat challenging note? Well at least we now know that the reason she got her job on ‘X-Factor’ was because of her looks. Good to know.

Thoughts?

  3. HUH? December 17, 2010

    ^^^ u are an idiot

  4. TIMMI December 17, 2010

I actually believed she was singing live for the first time. It’s a good song, but she could have got around the stage a bit more and performed it better.

Are you certain she was miming? I heard it was almost impossible to get away with miming infront of the royal family at the RVP and no artist has the option nor courage to do it.

Props to her for singing, most, if not all of it live anyway. She’s improving.

  6. 4ever December 17, 2010

Huh.. shes sang this live and the songs actually really good!! dont hate.

  7. JASMINE24 December 17, 2010

    HMMMMMMM, IT WASN’T THAT BAD!!!!!!!

She may not have been lip-synching the entire performance but she did mime the ‘CHALLENGING NOTES’. Nevertheless, I like Cheryl……. She’s is a decent performer! BUT I AINT CRAZY OVER HER LIKE SOME PEOPLE ARE :/

  8. JASMINE24 December 17, 2010

BTW, I LOVE THE SONG (COMPOSITION) AND THE LYRICS……. VERY GOOD! : )
    And Cheryl does look beautiful.

  9. Nippy You December 17, 2010

she sounds better than Mariah’s lipped.. performances.

  10. ERIC December 17, 2010

lol at trent dissing on his favorite singer! lmao!
Cheryl did great! 🙂 Wonderful performance.

  11. TresChic December 17, 2010

    LOL
whats with all the bopping around, she has no rhythm or musicality.

    nice dress!

  12. John December 17, 2010

Crap, untalented as hell!!! The song is not crap at its fullest at least, I suppose she didn´t write it so…
Really WTF did the UK saw on her, that she have a good f***?? Seriously every country in the world has several of these type of girls in its own market. She obviously won´t make it outside that island, we all have enough of them in our respective countries

  13. Jair December 17, 2010

Something is wrong with Trent today. First he calls out the Keyshia Cole song, which was actually good, and now he’s dissing Cheryl Cole. The performance wasn’t that bad, and even if it was lipped, the vocals aren’t that bad…She’s a decent singer…not the best, but definitely not the worst…

  14. rob December 17, 2010

who is she trying to fool , the notes u heard live she sounded out of breath she did tried to hit notes she couldn’t reach , shes terrible

  15. Andy December 17, 2010

Trent, what are you talking about? She actually sang well! Sure she’s not the best singer in the world but she was very good. I sense the green eyed monster!

  16. elleuk December 18, 2010

she makes me proud to be british.

  17. danielle December 18, 2010

    Are you joking?

she sang it live, maybe a bit of help at times with backtrack and a bit of autotune but what signer doesnt do that nowadays.

it was actually a really sweet vunerable performance so dont know what you are on about miming cos i doubt she could get away with it at the RVP!

  18. Mike December 18, 2010

That was f****** horrible IMO. The fake live band, her talking and just everything. The backtrack wasn’t even that loud and if anything it only exposed Cole’s awful live singing even more.

  19. CG GIRL December 18, 2010

SHANIA TWAIN MUCH??? Girl sings and even looks like her, from head to toe! : )

  20. Anthony December 18, 2010

She is so s***, omg for real. when she is performing you cannot help but look at her beautiful causing you to lose focus of her performance.

  21. KYLE December 18, 2010

SHES NO BRITNEY THATS FOR SURE

  22. true December 18, 2010

Cheryl is trying to prove a point, but Nadine does it better!

  25. CRBB December 18, 2010

horrible, fake, backing supported performance!! this ish’s career needs to shrivel up and die already. while youve got really performers and talented people not getting noticed…#IDONTFUXWITHTHISBITCH

  26. Birst December 18, 2010

    Brilliant! I enjoyed it.

  27. Winter December 18, 2010

    Love the song!

  28. ava December 18, 2010

loved it! i think it was live you could hear her breathing between words on some bits, yeah there was a backing track but she was great and she looked amazing!

  29. ky-ky December 18, 2010

lolz at you guys always saying she’s miming. While you can always hear her breath perfectly with lines and you here the live inflection as she sings, you all insist that she is miming smh lolz O welll this is why i look to this site only to see what’s going on in the music world not for the opinions 🙂 smh

  30. Sam December 18, 2010

You can’t say that Cheryl only got the X-Factor job because of her looks. She’s an artist. You only say she mimes because you can’t believe that she can actually sing live. Remember, she was on a show quite like the X-Factor some years ago. The judges wouldn’t have put someone through who a) was a s*** singer and b) who would mime. Yes, she does mime but doesn’t almost every artist these days? You can’t say that about Cheryl when there’s hundreds of others who do it. Dannii Minogue hasn’t sung on stage in years but she mimed when she were doing her performances. So shouldn’t Dannii be in the same category as Cheryl if you’re going on about “live performances” and only being chosen for her looks?
Makes me laugh. Cheryl haters make me laugh. :’)

  31. Sam December 18, 2010

plus, you can tell it’s live. The parts where she is slightly out of tune. She sings most of this differently than the single. The phrasing is different, the way she sings it is different, she changes notes and adds words that aren’t in the recorded track. So if it was mimed, wouldn’t the performace be exacty like the single?

  32. sparkle December 18, 2010

Oh, so I get it now. “live” now means only “being alive” , when it comes to live performance. I know that the education system is rubbish, but Lawd Have Mercy! I wouldn’t mind if Cheryl didn’t take herself so seriously, but she does seem to use the full amount of smoke and mirrors available to come up with a still average (sonically) performance. I won’t even go into how she isn’t even pretending like she knows where her diaphragm is located. But hey, it IS a recession, and peeps want something to look at which doesn’t challenge them, so hey, who the rass am I? ( A chick who was blessed to raised by a woman who TALKED better than this muppet could sing). And yes Kylie and them haven’t got no singing chops either, but I suspect that they do not take themselves so seriously. Therefore, with them, you get what it says on the tin. But Cheryl? Heeeell Naw!

  33. 4ever December 19, 2010

Cheryl cole rules.. as does this song!

    @SAM

    It’s called a prerecorded track.

  35. Ana December 20, 2010

The girl is a travesty. Can’t sing, can’t dance, can’t string a sentence together on the X-Factor whilst ‘judging’…. her bubble needs to burst already, she’s taking everyone for a fool!

  36. Jack December 20, 2010

actually it was all sang live but with a little auto tuneing… you are literally not allowed to mime at the royal variety… it is one of the rules… it was performed with an auto tuned microphone to take away any bad notes.
