Calculating Christina Aguilera’s Comeback

Published: Wednesday 5th Jan 2011 by Trent

2010 will be remembered as the year of incredible comebacks. From the once exiled Chris Brown to Monica – who many thought had retired – several artists managed to revive their careers and recapture their former positions at the top of the charts.

However, there is one artist who failed to regain her previous glory; an artist who encountered resounding rejection from consumers and critics of both music and film. Who is that artist? Christina Aguilera.

The former Pop princess has fallen to cataclysmic career lows and where she once seemed primed to claim a spot in history as one of music’s legendary divas, Aguilera is now being labelled as a has-been despite being only 30 years old.

Since being released in June, Aguilera’s ‘Bionic’ album sold only an embarrassing 250k copies in the US, becoming her lowest selling LP to date. Additionally, her highly-anticipated film debut, ‘Burlesque’, received mediocre reviews from critics and has thus far failed to recoup its $55 million budget after only achieving $49.2 million in ticket sales worldwide.

Even the marriage that she once valued more than her music has come to an abrupt end. Indeed, it seems that everything Aguilera touches turns to rust instead of gold.

Now, in the midst of a new year and with no other possible way to fall any further, the only direction for Aguilera’s career to go is up. Still, the single question that remains is: how? What direction should she take for her to return to prominence?

Aguilera has reinvented image and sound several times during the last decade, accomplishing varying degrees of success by experimenting with Pop, R&B, Soul and even Jazz. Yet, with each of those genres now dominated by younger and more relatable acts, there is no clear indication of her next move.

Ironically, her idol, Mariah Carey, suffered an almost identical career decline at the same stage in her career – a tumultuous divorce, a poorly received film and struggling album sales. History seems to truly be repeating itself.

It will be interesting see how Aguilera manages to rebound from this debacle. Maybe, like Carey, she will attempt to target the album-buying Adult Contemporary audience. Judging by the acclaim she received for her Golden Globe-nominated ballad ‘Bound to You’, that may very well be her best bet or else, as we discussed exactly one year ago, Aguilera may find herself without a spot in an industry that is quickly leaving her behind.

What do you think Aguilera needs to do to achieve a

successful comeback?

As much as I hate to say it, I’m kind of glad this happened to Christina. I love her, but her ego was exploding before Bionic and know she experienced so many bad things last year, it’s like she’s come back down to earth, thankfully.

Frankly, everything needs to go correctly for Christina to make a comeback this year. She needs to win that Golden Globe or at least show up and perform (???).

After that, she needs to lay low for a while and then come back in the late summer with a single like “Love S** Magic” by Ciara – something s***, midtempo, catchy and a song that will still represent an album which is likely to include a lot of ballads but still has the Christina swagger to it.

Then, I’d say she should release sometime in the fall because the biggest stars will have their albums out in the 1st half of the year and Christina could own the final months. Then, continue promotions for 2012 and pretend Bionic never happened. Maybe she could even do a few serious, independent films to gain acting credibility before going for the big films.

I’ve been thinking a lot about this, but she really needs to have a carefully calculated comeback unless she wants to be completely like Mariah and experience failures and flops continually for a few more years. If that happens, she’d be lucky to make a comeback because Mariah was extremely lucky to make a comeback with TEOM and for Christina to do the same would be a miracle.

  2. C January 5, 2011

She’s in quite an interesting position. Most artists when they falter can just go back to there start and core and remind everyone why they loved them in the first place. (See EOM and I Look to You). She can’t really do that since she started as a teenager and she’s far too old to even try that route. You can tell to she’s never been terribly comfortable doing strict pop. I think her personal best album was BTB and thats where she should start. Live instruments and great vocals. Give consumers that which other singers can’t , her voice. Her best songs have been inspirational (The Voice Within, Beautfiul) She has a voice that can inspire and she needs to remember that. She also needs to stop this silliness doing interviews about kissing girls and s***…nobody cares nor is buying it.

  3. Drew January 5, 2011

You know what killed Christina? Her personality. If she changes that, she’ll be fine.

  4. C January 5, 2011

LOL not picking on you in particular Drew but you never hear a man’s failure attributed to his personality.

  5. Ariana January 5, 2011

I think you’re wrong when you say that Mariah went through a similar situation at the same stage. Correct me if I’m wrong but this is Christina’s 6th studio album and Mariah’s 6th was Daydream (if you count Merry Christmas) so I don’t see the connection at all since this album was a worldwide success.

I’m not a big fan of Christina’s music, and I really don’t see how she can manage to get a huge comeback but my best suggestion to her would be forget about electronic music and stick to songs like Beautiful, You lost me or even What a girl wants. Songs where she sings instead of oversing. Just my opinion.

  6. Landen January 5, 2011

Xtina is a Master at Making Music and Stage Acts.

She’s A Wizard At Performing and bringing it to

Life. I want to know what people are Gonna Say

when she is back on top? Trust me. Things are far

from over for her. You’ll See. I have to Make one

statement though. Its shame to see One of the few

Very Talented Acts get to this point due to Everyone

being so prone to liking younger artists when Xtina at

this age is still very young in this type of industry.

Trust me, Its A Shame. Not on her part. On the part

    of the Fans.

  7. Drew January 5, 2011

    @C
LOL, I do but I see what you’re saying. Like the failures of Usher and Trey Songz are easily blamed on their personalities for me but I understand what you’re saying in that I don’t like how society only see wrongs in personalities for women.

  8. RihannaForever January 5, 2011

    @Ariana
Well, unless you count her Christmas album and her Spanish album as official studio albums (which they technically aren’t), then Bionic is only Christina’s fourth album.

  9. Ariana January 5, 2011

@RIHANNAFOREVER, so true! I forgot to mention that: she needs to work on her attitude asap!!!!

  10. Topman January 5, 2011

Good article! It’s a confusing topic because you can’t tell her to go away – she was already gone for 4 years, unlike Mariah! Though there may be similarities in that it’ll take a couple albums before she gets her “Emancipation of Mimi” moment. And it’s possible she could have one because everyone is still aware of her talent. She just needs to take some singing lessons and fix her image, classy works better for her than over-the-top s***.

  11. RihannaForever January 5, 2011

    @Ariana
Absolutely. I love her music but her ego was just insane. Beyonce and Britney have never experienced an album that was a flop (except Britney did go through that phase where she had a lot of negative publicity), but they don’t they’re incredibly humble.

I’m glad last year happened to her because after 3 hit albums it was like she felt so perfect. I don’t wish pain or failure upon anyone but I think she’ll find or others will find that this all happened to her for a reason.

  12. Hello2011 January 5, 2011

Trent you’re just really bored to make a post like this.

All you little commenters think you know what you’re talking about and think you know what somebody needs to make a comeback but you are just talking out your ass. That’s the problem with teens these days. They think they know everything but really know jack S***!

Burlesque has recieved a better response from the genral public than from critics. It’s performed better than expected in the box office and has already been nominated for a couple of Golden Globes. Even though Bionic didn’t do well, it’s not her worse to date. Y’all can argue that she’s irrelevant and blah blah blah but the truth is if this world didn’t have their heads so far up Rihanna’s & Gaga’s & kesha’s and Katy’s ass they’d remember what real talent is and that it is still out there. This industry has just lost it’s morals and standards and we need to go back to the days when s** didn’t sell quite as much as talent did. I remember back in the good ole days where you NEEDED to have talent to even get signed.

Y’all can also say “Floptina” Or “Straintina” or “Irrelevantina” cannot make a comeback and that she needs to change her attitude and lose her ego but let’s face it, EVERYBODY in this industry has some snootiness and ego to them. “That Rihanna reign won’t let up” is such an egotistical thing to say and y’all support her for saying that and strutting around with her ass and ttities forever showing and flashing her snatch but Christina can’t strut around with her ass and titties hanging out singing about being comfortable with her sexuality without being called an egotistical stuck up b****?

Burlesque soundtrack has already sold over 370,000 worldwide with over 290,000 being in the US alone and that’s damn good. And for Burlesque to have done 49.2 million so far on a 55 million budget is damn good considering how much everybody has slammed it!

    F*** off thatfakejuice

  13. Prince January 5, 2011

I wouldnt label Christina as a has been everyone knows who has that written all over them *cough* Kim lol but anyway i think she shouldn’t do Lady Gaga type songs cuz her voice doesnt fit those type of songs. She need 2 do Whitney Houston type songs or Celine Dion type songs. I think Christina is the White Whitney Houston and I know Christina is still wanted in the Industry.

  14. George Liquor January 5, 2011

Why is a Rihanna fan attacking Mariah Carey? You do know that Rihanna is a fan of her music? Also Rihanna is an atrocity to music, so you have no room to talk bad about anyone. I don’t like, Christina but the woman can sing he ass off.

  15. TAMST January 5, 2011

    What she should do is…

Is suck my big pink d***.

  16. KYLE January 5, 2011

SHE NEEDS TO GO BACK TO HER “DIRTY” ERA!!!! HER BEST ONE YET AND IF SHE CAN TURN OUT A FEW SONGS LIKE “BEAUTIFUL” OR “FIGHTER” EVERYONE WILL MOST LIKELY FORGET THE DISASTER THAT WAS BIONIC

    • common sense November 14, 2012

i agree with you except for the dirrty part… that is her worst song up to date is doing exactly what artists like rihanna and gaga do… she needs to do catchy songs like candyman if she is , into her sexuality’ if not she should do some ballads… and she is damn good at ballads

  17. WooHoo January 5, 2011

    @Prince

    Xtina the White Whitney?

    GTFO

Xtina has power that is it and a nice tone.

But when it comes to technicality and control she doesn’t even come close.

Nobody is any version of Whiney. She can’t and will never be duplicated.

  18. Ariana January 5, 2011

@C Indeed! Both Mariah & Whitney had very well established careers before hitting rock bottom. Mariah’s comeback with EOM was incredible and even though E=MC2 or Memoirs weren’t equally successful she kept herself relevant on the charts. People forget at times that maybe Memoirs barely reached the gold certification but Obsessed sold over 2 million copies in the US only and her last Xmas album did well, not massively, but indeed well.

Someone mentioned that Christina’s best album was B2B, hmmm I don’t think so, I found it quite boring. Most will disagree w/ me but what she does best is not r n’ b or soul but pop. She’s a pop singer and that’s why I think her best album is the first one, which could be the one she hates the most.

  19. RihannaForever January 5, 2011

    @GeorgeLiquor
Assuming you were speaking of me as I’m the only one that’s evidently a Rihanna fan, how did I insult Mariah?

  20. Traci Summers January 5, 2011

THE ONLY REASON SHES CALLED A HAS BEEN IS BECAUSE WE ARE I ANEW AGE OF MUSIC.. NOBODY CARES ABOUT TALENT.. SO AS LONG AS U HAVE A GHETTO BEAT.. GENERIC LYRICS…REPETITIVE LINES.. UR GOOD TO GO. IT HURTS TO SEE SO MANY TALENT BEING BLACKBALLED ALL BECUZ THE 106 AND PARK GENERATION DNT LISTEN TO IT..OTHER PPL DO LISTEN TO CHRISTINA AND MIORE.. U GENERALIZE FACTS BASED ON UR CIRCLE OF FRIENDS…MUSIC IS MUSIC.. WHY SHOUL XTINA MAKE S*** SONGS JSUT SO SHE CAN SELL.. WHY MUST SHE.. THAT EVERYBODY ON ITUNES SAID NICKI MINAJ’S ALBUM IS GARBAGE.. SHE DOES NOT CARE WHAT MUSIC SHE MAKES ASLONG AS SHE GETS HER MONEY..NO1 DOES MUSIC FOR THE LOVE OF IT ANYMORE.. JUST FOR THE SALARY.. SINCE MICHAEL..AALIYAH..JAMES BROWN..E.T.C HAVE DIED MUSIC HAS BEEN SINKING..AND WE NEED A NEW SAVIOUR

    • Lex May 26, 2016

I’m totally with you on this. Christina makes music, she’s true representation of art form. She can do just about anything musically. It’s not about making the most popular songs for the soul purpose of making money like most of the popular artists out there. It all sounds like the same garbage replaying over and over on the radio. Christina takes time to make records of substance and what’s going on in her life. I’m so sick of people trashing her on everything she does. She is a huge success all over the world except the US. All you hear about is her diva behavior.. like she’s the first person to be a diva it’s ridiculous. Christina will be around for a long time. People need to accept it. I think the issue is that she’s ahead of the game and people need to catch up.

  21. jojo January 5, 2011

the queen christina will be o.k

  22. LULLABY January 5, 2011

    LOOOOL

Her first album is the worst, generic t*** early 00 trash!

Her best album is Bionic, whether you like or not. That’s a fact. The most daring, eclectic and ambitious project she ever did.
But y’all are acting like it never existed because is was a commercial failure. Listen the music, and stop being focused on the chart folks.

  23. theman January 5, 2011

AIGHT I’M ABOUT TO SET EVERYTHING STRAIGHT THE CORRECT WAY.

THIS IS CLEARLY FROM SAM, THE ONE THAT NOBODY GIVES A DAYUM ABOUT, BECAUSE HE IS TRYING TO BE SALTY TO MARIAH THE WORLDS BEST SELLING FEMALE. BY THE WAY THIS WOMAN HAS TWO DIAMOND ALBUMS, AND TONS OF OTHER SUCCESSFUL ALBUMS, THEREFORE SHE IS DOING GREAT. MARIAH DOESN’T REALLY HAVE FLOPS JUST ALBUMS THAT DID’NT SALE AS WELL AS OTHERS.

    Mariahs smallest selling albums
Glitter – Not an album, A soundtrack – Certified Platinum
Charmbraclet – Certified Platinum Almost 1.5 million units sold
E=M2 08″ Sales aren’t as robust as they once were, she had her biggest selling first week ever, then her single helped her to pass Elvis with the most #1 singles by a solo artist.
Album Certifed Platinum, selling almost 1.5 million units
Memoirs – Gold 530k Sales are not so great at this point, and she only had 1 hit single from this era.

Now, with Mariahs sales i don’t see a flop, i see underperforming kind of for her but certainly not a flop. Each of her albums at their lowest points have all been certified. When Mariah has huge radio hits her album sales are amazing, do you know how many artists would love to have Mariahs average sales. I can name you hand full of new artists that have major hits and struggle to go platinum. So don’t try to hate on Mariah because you’ll end up looking stupid like you already do. NEXTTTTTTT..

Rihanna fan, 5 albums in and Rihanna still doesn’t have a #1 album, uh that might just have something to do with her lack of talent. Brag about her ww sales, but she can chalk that up to the holiday season. Mariahs Mic Stand >>> Rihanna and her Career. TEOM” has sold more than all 5 of Rihanna’s albums combined. Get the fck outta here with that. Don’t ever compare one of the greatest ever to some manufactured half azzed artist. Mariah lucky ? You must be crazy, that woman is a musical genius and shes awesome at her craft. If anyones lucky its Rihanna. She isn’t really that talented, and without catchy hooks and beats what really does she have to off to this industry besides what she looks like. NOT A GAWDAMN THANG ………

Furthermore, Christina’s Burlesque’ has done pretty good, it has sold almost 300k in in the states and nearly 400 to 500k ww. She did a good job in the movie, received her star on the Hollywood walk of fame, and has been praised for her great work on the Burlesque soundtrack. Whoever, wrote this article clearly is very misguided and has nothing else better to do. This soundtrack was like number 1 on itunes, and she even had a single or two that did very well on itunes. She’ll bounce back. Bionic’ was a really good album, it was just bad timing. One album doesn’t mean that you are a hasbeen. I didn’t hear anyone calling her that. Desperate people do desperate things and whomever is writing this article really seems to be pulling all straws.

Christina’s next album will be a smash. It’s funny how you omitted all of the great things she has going on now. By the way Mariahs Christmas album has now shipped Gold, it was out for less than 2 mnths, and sold more than many artists regular albums, don’t make me list each of those flops, because alot of them have huge hits, and have been out far longer than her holiday album, that has received so much critical acclaim.

Selling a million albums with 3 to 4 hit singles is unimpressive……… But going Gold in less than two months with a holiday album is great. No your facts or keep your mouth closed.

  24. Ariana January 5, 2011

    @RIHANNAFOREVER agree w/ you 100%.
Music industry must be opaqued by wannabe singers right now but if you keep a decent fan base by your side you can still be relevant.
That seems Christina’s problem, that arrogant attitude is killing her. Britney and Beyonce and count Mariah as well have a legion of very faithful fans who stay there no matter what. Brit is the one who impressed me the most: she survived the worst publicity in the world (bad mother, junkie, bipolar, etc) and still people love her, just because she seems a nice girl and most of all thankful. Yes, marketing sells, but you should use the market on your favor.

  25. QueenBeyonce January 5, 2011

i find it funny how yall sittin up here talkin down about christina aguilera floppin but sittin here praising jazmine sullivan for those low sales lmfaoooo chile please. Anyway

AT LEAST XTINA BIONIC SOLD MORE THAN

C-ERROR FLOPSY RIDE AND BASICALLY EXTINCT ALBUMS COMBINED
    JAZMINE SULLIVAN
    CHRISETTE MICHELLE

NEED I GO ON HER LOWEST SALES STILL BEAT SOME OF THESE NEW GIRLS. AND SHE STILL GAINED A #1 ALBUM IN THE UK WITH BIONIC. LMFAOOO. IM NOT SAYING NO NAMES BUT SOME ARTIST HAVE YET TO GET A #1 ALBUM LMFAOOO EVEN AFTER PUTTING OUT 3 OR 4 OR 5. COUGH RIHANNA LMFAOOO

I LOVE HER ATTITUDE. KEEP THAT CONCEITED ATTITUDE THATS WHAT MAKES ME LIKE HER. BECAUSE SHE KNOWS NOBODY IS F***** WITH HER VOCALLY.

  26. Yellow Gorillah January 5, 2011

She will be ok as long as she has her amazing voice !
    we need stripped part two!

  27. Ariana January 5, 2011

@LULLABY I don’t think Bionic was her best for several reasons but I agree on the music. This album’s music is great, i loved the electronic feeling but I think where she failed was on the lyrics and the singing. Oh, you can count also poor singles selection, even though I don’t love the album you can tell there were better songs in it.
I think her first is better because maybe she was doing what she didn’t want to and was told by the producers every little thing — who knows, that’s what she thinks: art direction. Her old producers created t***-rubbish-plastic songs but they were catchy and most people like them., and i’m not talking about the charts or anything. These songs were pure pop genius and she should do it again. Just my two cents anyways….

  28. WooHoo January 5, 2011

    @THEMAN

    Trent clearly wrote this.

  29. Ariana January 5, 2011

    *that’s what she needs

  30. theman January 5, 2011

One other thing Mariahs targets whomever enjoys her music, just as Xtina will do. People are pathetic. One album doesn’t decide your fate as an artists. She’ll comeback strong. Her Pop and Soul roots will be the direction that she’ll go back into. She has something that alot of these one trick ponys don’t. A VOICE. If she has the right song and material she’ll do great things.

  31. RihannaForever January 5, 2011

    @Ariana
Exactly! Britney and Mariah and even Beyonce have gone through some horrible times in the public eye but they’re humble, thankful and they have good personalities and attitudes but Christina has everything but the right personality.

I just hope she’s been humbled by last year though it doesn’t seem like it.

  32. C January 5, 2011

    @ Arriana

But “Christina Aguilera” is not Christina Aguilera. As soon as she had a whiff of freedom she ran off and made Dirty and Fighter. THATS who she is deep inside. I don’t think she has another good pop album in her she just doesn’t have the heart for it. Plus I think her most enduring hits are something like Beautiful…hell theres a commercial out with that song now. She needs to inspire.

  33. theman January 5, 2011

Trent is dumb to make this comparison. There was no point in doing so.

  34. C January 5, 2011

I’d also throw in my two cents about Britney’s comeback in that she has a much stronger fanbase than anybody realized. I also think her performances helped the public pull for her. Who can forget her “snake” performance or her kiss with Madonna. Poor XTina’s doesn’t get the shine even though she arguably equal to Brit in dancing.

  35. LULLABY January 5, 2011

Xtina has a bitchy attitude. She’s like that, it’s natural for her and i think she built up this attitude because she had apretty rough chilhood. Don’t blame her. I don’t say it’s justifiable but other stars who are “likeable” didn’t have her chilhood (a violent father who beated her mother and maybe her too).
    She’s a strong woman.

  36. LULLABY January 5, 2011

    It’s a defense mechanism in a way.

  37. madamxtina January 5, 2011

Its funny How they see the attitude problem she’s the way she is cause of childhood. She has this wall built up come on look What Perez did supposed to be her friend but degrading her. She’s smart on what shes doing. At least she busted her ass off at such a young age. Accomplished what has been right fully hers for along time. Golden globe nomination how did she have q bad year she went out with a bang burlesque not successful it is. 50 million worldwide passing up crossroads gliiter etc please she had a great end of the year.

  38. jj January 5, 2011

@madamxtina actually crossroads had a good gross revenue 🙂

  39. Beri January 5, 2011

You people have no idea what your talking about. Her attitude. This woman is amazing does som1 with a disgusting personality make songs like beautiful the voice within hurt fighter etc? Do they donate money to sick children & give there wedding gifts to the victims of Hurricane Katerina or go all the way accross the world to help children men & women who have faced adversities. I bet none of you knew any of this cuz ur to busy judging her 4 s*** she has never done. & if she has talked bad about som1 that does not make her a bad person at all each and every single 1 of u has said something about somedody u deslike. The diffrence btween u nd xtina is that ur 2 faced b****** atlesst she has the guts to say it 2 the persons face ur the bad 1 4 being fake ass b******.

  40. Whatever January 5, 2011

@JJ That’s because Crossroads had a budget of 12M. If Burlesque was a story that was normal without the big production, it would have had a budget of say 20M and made it back.

    Trent, please just shut up.

    1) The DVD sales are not even in. There are STILL countries the movie hasn’t been released in. It’s what? A little less than 6 million short? I highly DOUBT it’s going to stop at 49M.

    2) While I love Christina, Mariah had the majority of her accomplishments under the bag BY the time her breakdown happened. Two TOTALLY different situations.

    3) Are you offering to sign her to you label? Be her manager? Her song-writer? Her publicist? Doing her make-up? Hair? Being her trainer? O, you aren’t? No, I didn’t think so. So, just stick to doing what you do best. Being a flop person with a flop blog.

  41. Whatever January 5, 2011

@JJ What I mean to say in that Crossroads was a typical story with typical production is that those kinds of stories have ALWAYS been cheap. Musicals have ALWAYS been expensive. ALWAYS. I don’t know not ONE that had a budget under 20M in recent years. Mamma Mia! was 52M, Hairspray was 75M, Nine was 80M (which ONLY grossed 53.9M btw), Chicago was 45M, etc. I know that the MAJORITY of them have been HUGELY successful BUT as I said, musicals is not a CHEAP genre to dip into. Their production isn’t just something you can shoot on a studio with SOME form of typical production and be done. Those BIG flashy costumes, dance sequences, lightening, etc. COST money. They have to train for MONTHS, they don’t get a 12-35 type of cast as that’s usually the amount of DANCERS they need for ONE musical number in some cases.

  42. jj January 5, 2011

@whatever lol u dont need to explain everything! the point is burlesque wasnt really a hit!

  43. jj January 5, 2011

@beri thanks to linda perry… oh, all christina charity works are FAKE! christina wasnt even on the list of vh1 celebs gone good… cause christina only doing charity works when she release an album etc…then finish! look at angelina jolie whether she have movies or not shes still doing her job to help poor people!

  44. ayo_ronnie January 5, 2011

Xtina had one flop album and her career is over? Trent girl you are a shady ass queen! Then you have the nerve to call Mariah Carey her idol? Anything to bring up that tired old dusty p**** b****! Xtina likes some Carey songs but idolize she does not. Last time I cheacked she idolized Cher, Madonna, and Etta James. Mooriah was never mentioned. Burlesque has currently made 49 million out of its 50 mill budget and it still hasnt even been released everywhere! When Mooriah gonna do it? She has a golden globe nod and there are talks of an oscar nod. When is mooriah gonna do it!

  45. StrongerThanEver January 5, 2011

LMAO @ JJ chewing more than he could chew.

If you don’t want facts, then don’t bother to argue because someone will present facts (well done WHATEVER) and you will have to accept them because they are FACTS. It’s kind of idiotic to compare that snore-fest/can’t act Crossroads to glitzy/golden globes nominated Burlesque. I mean, seriously? Where are all your LOGIC have been? LOL

  46. True Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Blue January 5, 2011

I should be fast asleep right now, but I’ve been busy and left my computer open, so before I go to bed, I’ll say this:

    1. Bionic sucked. Good for everyone who enjoyed the album, but let’s face it, electro pop isn’t for her. Her voice demands a more organic style of music, and I feel that artistically she shined the best on Stripped. She showed how her versatile she is without hopping on trends (with the exception of Dirrty, but that was the only bad song on the record IMO). Bionic did not sound edgy and avant-garde, it sounded like it was following in the trend of electronic-inspired dance music that was (and unfortunately, still is) hot. Even though the album was a long work in progress, it still sounded like it was trying to capitalize on the current trends. Only a few songs off that album were enjoyable for me. Oh, and don’t even get me started on the video for “Not Myself Tonight”. Ugh.

    2. I won’t deny that she has acted unnecessarily bitchy sometimes. But I don’t believe that is the reason why she flopped. I mean, look at Kanye. Dude has done everything to guarantee ending his career, and he’s still going strong. That’s because he continues to put out solid music that almost everyone can get behind. If it weren’t for that, he would’ve been done ages ago. And look at Madonna and the people she has tossed shade to over the years. Obviously, it’s her music that people get behind, and not her warm, sunny personality (don’t get me wrong, I think she’s a genuinely good person, but she can be bitchy too, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed). And I think people being rubbed wrong by Christina did not start with the whole Gaga comparisons that mainly got started by the media (namely an evil blogger who named himself after some ugly hotel heiress). There was that interview with Blender magazine in 2004… yep, I read it. I was real mad at her for awhile as well. But she released Back to Basics two years later, and it didn’t flop, did it? Exactly. I’m not saying that having a good/bad personality doesn’t play an important factor into your popularity, especially when you’re a pop star, but in Christina’s case, it is less of a liability when you’re more renowned for your talent than just your image. Artists that don’t have much talent obviously need to rely more on having a likable image to warrant the public liking them. And it seems that we require politeness from pop stars more than from artists of any other genre, and we demand more of it from women in particular (as noted in a previous comment). I don’t understand how we’ll cheer on beefs in hip-hop but talk down pop singers for doing the same.

But anyway, I don’t think we should give Christina so much flack for her attitude, when other artists are just as bad or worse, and they do just fine with less criticism. Besides, I buy music based on whether I like it itself, not because I think the person is a saint or the devil. I’m not accusing anyone on here of buying music strictly for the personality, I’m just saying. What she needs to make a successful comeback is to go “back to basics”, so to speak. Instead of trying to compete with her counterparts, she should just stay in her own lane and do her. Make music that suits her vocals and where she is at her life, rather than try to appeal to the kiddies. She needs to not worry about topping everyone else in regards to success. A great comeback does not have to mean being able to achieve the (commercial) success that you had in your peak. I mean, look at Pink. She is the most underrated mainstream pop star out there, she doesn’t get half the shine that Britney, Beyoncé, Rihanna and Gaga get, but she doesn’t care. She makes music that is to her liking, she doesn’t care to follow trends, and her fans (including me) love her all the more for it. I see Christina as being that type pop star, the one that stays in her own lane and doesn’t give a f*** about being popular or topping the charts, just making music that she likes. I wish she would go back to being that chick, because that’s more of who she was in the Stripped/B2B era.

Another flaw of hers is her stubbornness. The upside is that it keeps her from being her label’s puppet, but the downside is that it also causes to shun potentially useful advice, and as a result she sabotages herself for it. I think she needs to work on being more open to people who are trying to help her.

And I’m done with my nonsensical rambling. For now. If I don’t make sense, I’ll clarify myself when I’m awake and more alert. I just needed to get this off my chest while it was still fresh in my brain.

@strongerthanever hahahhahahaa i argue? read back to my very first comment to madamxtina if i said something wrong! i only commented on here and then someone replied to my own comment! mind your own comments pls!

  48. StrongerThanEver January 5, 2011

    @ JJ

    Okay 🙂

  49. ayo January 5, 2011

I think she was very unlucky and the problem started with the release on the not myself tonite video which caused many negative out look but the song and the album bionic was an almost perfect album she was just unlucky she still has castle walls with T.I. which will probably bring attention to her and the movie bursque was a good movie and was even nominated 4 the golden globe

so this year she will win a golden globe
the song with t.i. castle wlls will hit
and next year the real comeback album

  50. Oggie January 5, 2011

This article started off so pathetic that i stopped reading, what a self indulgent negative piece of crap! One album not doing well does not make a major selling artist a has been, seems like more wishful thinking on your part. Maybe you should ask The Golden Globes if they think Christina is a flop since her film has been nominated for best film!

How someone could start the year with such a negative outlook on someone else is beyond me, disgusting! massive fail on your part trent, Christina will have a career 20 years from now., no blog article will change that, so let it go. Dear i say Happy New Year!

  51. Atitude Adjustment ****** January 5, 2011

MY FAVORITE PERFORMANCE FROM TINA WAS WHEN SHE DID THIS IS A MAN’S WORLD .. THAT WAS AMAZING AND SHE WAS GREAT IN BUELESQUE BUT I DO HAVE TO SAY WHEN I STARTED TO SEE HER DO INTERVIEWS I THOUGHT SHE CAME OFF AS BITCHY…SHES NOT VERY HUMBLE AT ALL …I MEAN TALK ABOUT AN EGO ISSUE ……I WOULD NEVER WISH BAD UPON ANYBODY BUT SOMETIMES YOU NEED CERTAIN BAD THING’S TO HAPPEN TO YOU IN ORDER TO COME DOWN TO EARTH AGAIN .

  52. theman January 5, 2011

Pink actually sales pretty good, and has smash hits. She has some what flown under the radar. But she is extremely talented. Infact, she is amazing. Christina will do great things with her next album. As far as the person that is talking stupid. Mariah is one of her idols. She is one of her inspirations. Therefore drop the stupidity and move on. It’s one album she’ll be fine. The ladies out now aren’t even selling that well they are struggling to go platinum. The sad thing is that most of them have huge hits.

Bionic’ was a really good album, but NMT’ was the wrong choice for a single. YLM” was brilliant but Pop radio did’nt play it.

  53. MissImpartial January 5, 2011

I don’t know how you can label Christina a B**** and Mariah not!!
Mariah is the biggest diva and hast the worst attitude.

  54. MissImpartial January 5, 2011

I think she should try some Rock as she has the voice for it. Her voice as to good for dance music that is why it never connected with the audience. Her first album was pure pop perfection and her second album was great. She should do a maturer version of Stripped and put more Rock songs like Fighter.

I think it is unfair to be labelled a flop just because of one album. She is a multi Grammy winning singer and I think this was good for her as I think she will give 200% with the new project.

  55. Jerome January 5, 2011

And you choose to wrap up the year 2010 and start 2011 with this, Trent? In the midst of Ciara and Keri’s low albums sales? Please, sit down. It’s bad enough that you mentioned that grade school reflection paper that your wrote about the industry leaving Christina behind again. Now I also have to bear with this mess.

For those people who gang on a woman who worked hard on album and experience low sales, canceled tour and divorce (for you to even thought of “calculating” it is disgusting) but manage to held her head high and without resulting to madness… and those people who hate on someone who keeps a good image despite the media saturated business… I have one word: f*** you.

Her album flopped, and that was already a half year ago. Give it up already. It’s amazing how this blogger try to debunk Christina of everything, from achievements, relevance and even talent. You’re a hater, so that’s understandable. But how you put up with the pathetic excuse of “calculating” and making comparisons just to cover that up, makes me puke. All your credits go down to the drain.

Christina has accomplished what other artists can only dream of. So what if she fails to reclaim her spot? That won’t change her bearings and achievements. At least she will be remembered as the singer who delivered “Beautiful” and “The Voice Within” rather than someone who sang Tik Tok. She will be remembered for the Dirrty video and not the one with your fave dancing with Power Rangers. If she’s done, then she’s done. Everyone falls into obscurity one way or another. Why make such a big deal out of it? Worst why make a post about something so obvious that even a grade school pupil can think of and write?

This girl did not beat her boyfriend, she did not leave her son at the back of her car and she did not diss any artist while their getting their awards. She’s just a b****. Now how can someone post about women in the business (*and even reflect on about people being biased with women of color, another grade school reflection paper) if they’re going to lay every level of biasness and hate on even a single one? Who only is having a personality?

Bad taste + hateful + insights of a grade school pupil

    I cant with this guy

MISSIMPARTIAL: “I don’t know how you can label Christina a B**** and Mariah not!!

    LOL WUT

You clearly don’t have any idea of who she is. Mariah is one of the biggest divas, but in the negative way that you describe it.

  57. BEE January 5, 2011

but *NOT in the negative way that you describe it.

  58. MissImpartial January 5, 2011

    @BEE

Yes she is. I mean she can not do anything for herself she can’t even walk without someone helping her and I don’t mean now that she is pregnant. She is famed for her constant diva demands and the way she comes across in some interviews you can see has attitude.

I don’t know how some artist get away with the criticism but others get blasted for it. I know Christina is not the very humblest one but come on at least she is not being fake and pretending to be nice!!

  59. mark ginnis January 5, 2011

Christina’s problem is jer conception of her role and place. She disses “Genie in a Bottle” because she says she felt restricted vocally and couldnt run all over the song. This is her biggest hit and she cant appreciate it. It is a good pop song and she sang it perfectly. She think she is supposed to sing circles around the melody and show off. She disdains the stuff that makes her popular and then makes Jazz records and crap. This is the problem. She has a skewed idea of what she should be doing. Keri hilson IMHO has the same problem : rather than commit to R n b she is making records that do better on the pop charts than on Urban ( where the dont do at all hardly) . Sometimes artists dont know what they should be doing.

  60. RosaRubbel January 5, 2011

I don’t know much about Christina, but I know she had a rough childhood (violent father etc.) and this fact alone explains a lot to me. Don’t blame Christina, blame her past. Think about it, before you blame other people!
As for ‘Bionic’, the whole era has been a mess. Damn, she even had to cancel her tour dates BEFORE the album release! The album itself wasn’t quality it’s just electro/pop which everyone is doing right now and Christina can do better than this and she knows it. ‘Bound To You’ alone sh*ts all over the whole ‘Bionic’ album. There’s no doubt ‘Bionic’ had some catchy tunes, but they are rubbish (‘Desnudate’ etc.).
Christina will be back, I have faith in her!

  61. JimmyBoy January 5, 2011

It’s not that complicated, she needs what everyone else needs……….. a hit single, one great commercial track.

Despite all the crap that Rihanna gets she releases great pop songs which translate into hits.

Although Bionic was a great album it didn’t have any pop hits….. which if you want a hit pop album you need

  62. BEE January 5, 2011

    MISSIMPARTIAL:
“Yes she is. I mean she can not do anything for herself she can’t even walk without someone helping her and I don’t mean now that she is pregnant. She is famed for her constant diva demands and the way she comes across in some interviews you can see has attitude.”

Again, this just proves that you clearly don’t have any idea of who she is. You seem to be a part of a group of people who believe that everything the media prints is true. Most of these “diva demands” that are reported are fabricated or misinterpreted by the media. There have been reports that she ordered a basket of puppies in her dressing room or that she “demanded” a red carpet to enter a hotel at 3A.M. Really? Mariah, herself even found this hilarious when an interviewer told her about these rumors. It’s understandable though if you don’t see where I’m coming from. Unless you follow Mariah or know her personally, I wouldn’t expect you to really “believe” or get what I’m saying. Her IMAGE as a celebrity is what fuels a lot of these rumors, but it does not make them true. A lot of celebrities have images, but are nothing like what they appear to be in “Holllywood”. In the 90s and earlier part of her career she had a different kind of image. Did you hear about any of these diva demands then? No, not from a girl wearing jeans, sneakers and a flannel shirt.

Ironically, recently she was spotted in a grocery store with a couple of friends when she went to take pictures with fans.

  63. james227 January 5, 2011

I think this is a damn shame because we have woman with such big strong voices and they are dragging this one gimmick in people faces. Christine can sing her ass off. I getting so sick and tired of this industry. It really makes me mad that the ones that can’t sing think they are going hard when they are not. What the hell is going on with all of our real singers.

  64. Phil January 5, 2011

Terrible article! Christina is starting 2011 in a good note! Burlesque is doing quite well, reaching $50,000,000 worldwide as it is nearing release on many countries abroad. It is doing great in Asia and it should do similarly well when it comes out in the Latin countries where she is very popular!

Considering many people were expecting this film to be the next Glitter, it’s doing really well!

  65. George Liquor January 5, 2011

@ AYO-RONNIE Mariah Carey is not fat,so just cut the b*******.I wonder what you look like in person?. And Christina will not win a golden globe.Mooriah, no that’s not right, the woman deserves more respect then that.

  66. Royalkev January 5, 2011

That pity party for Xtina is a bit too premature. Has been? No! Rejection from consumers and critics? Who are these people that you’re referring to? That’s a No as well! I’ve only heard flattering things about Ms. Aguilera’s performance in Burlesque! The movie was excellent unlike Glitter, so the comparison between her and Carey is preposterous! Her comeback train will soon have many people on board. It’s only her first official flop(with Bionic). She will survive this and continue to make music(which will inevitably return her back to her superstar status again).

  67. gfff January 5, 2011

    Great article!

  68. sugarwalls January 5, 2011

    EPIC FLOP!!!

  69. CHECKMATE January 5, 2011

    Several things…

First off she needs to change her personality and how she speaks about and to other artists in the industry. That lost her good behavior points right off. Like, who wants to work with someone with a bitchy ass personality and talks about you behind ur back.

2nd, she needs to get back to basics which is her voice as others said. She’s ranked #58 on RS All time Best Singers list. Despite how much everyone doesnt like her u cant deny her vocal prowess. She needs to stick to modern ballads and mid-tempo selections. Stay away from that electro-poptart auto-tune sing talker s***. She wont break Lady Gaga, Perry’s and Ke$ha’s auto-tuned tweener fan base but she can get the late 20’s – 40 crowd if she differentiates herself from that. A few AC tracks wouldnt hurt cross over into that market either. I rather listen to Xtina than that Subo s*** anyday, if done right.

3rd, she can get on more studio soundtracks for film. Another way to get back into good graces of fans. Besides movies have way better royalties structures than music and radio.

Finally, Trent knows nothing… Burlesque may only have $49 mil gross worldwide but movie tickets is not the sole revenue base for films anymore. Other distribution areas such as online distribution (ie. Net flix), dvd sales worldwide, etc have equaled if not taken over theatre streams of revenue for films. So Burlesque will more than exceed the break-even point for profit. Also, films no longer stay first run in theatres as long as they used to. Back in the day first run films could stay showing for first 8-10 weeks before going to multi-plexes, smaller theatres, and then dvd market. Today that time frame has shrunk to like 4-6 weeks so other streams of income is becoming as important as first run theatre revenue. So for a first run musical to get $49.5 mil worldwide is still not that damn bad. So another 1-2 weeks the flick has broke even, right Trent?? LOLz. Then add on other streams of income you’re talking 75-80 mil in final gross. Not a huge blockbuster but the producers will still receive a fair handsome return on investment.

  70. Jim January 5, 2011

    @Checkmate

Films that break even are not consider hits because the studios don’t reap any profit; all they do is cover costs. That’s like you owning a bakery and you sell enough bread to pay the bills/cost of flour etc but have no extra money to take home at the end of the day.

Will Ferrell had several movies that broke even but they were called box office bombs. Burlesque bombed and as soon as we Christina fans that pushing her to do better then the sooner she’ll give us the material we deserve.

I think Christina needs to make more ballads. A combination of Back To Basics & Stripped would be great. I loved the Burlesque soundtrack. Bionic was simply over the top and not original.

Christina has the talent and I’m glad that everybody recognizes that.

PS: I’m glad Trent brought back these articles. It’s great to finally read a comment section that isn’t packed with stupid Rihanna/Beyonce/Chris Brown/Brandy stans attacking each other back and forth.

  71. CHECKMATE January 5, 2011

    @JIM

Read what I wrote. I SAID there are other streams of income that make a film profitable not just break even. Obviously, those parts skipped ur brain in selective reasoning. NEXT.

She is very s*** and hot, I love her very much. Recently I found she posted many her nice photos on Plusly.Com . I am wondering what kinds of relationship she wants to seek? Friendship? Marriage?

  73. TIMMI January 5, 2011

LOL these “features” make me laugh.

    So do the comments.. Ignants.

Christina also spoke about Mariah here.

Whether you know it or not, your fav female vocalist post Mariah’s debut has been influenced by Mariah.

    Thanks and good bye.

  74. xxx January 5, 2011

    ok – let’s face it

the main problems this era has been wrong singles (you lost me in summer – wtf?) and that she came with the s*** attitude after being a grown woman during b2b

she downgraded herself way to much with the kissing girls thing etc

she has been more mature during back 2 basics and should have stepped her game up instead of going back

the album has been released 2 years to late, they should have scrapped the greatest hits and should have released bionic in 2008 – it would have been a hit!

her behavior has nothing to do with her sales – she has always been a b**** and no one cared!

but this site is so wrong for calling her a has been! for what? for one flop album?
then i guess madonna is a has been, cher is a has been, mariah is a has been…stupid b******, everyone had a flop album! of course their sales were higher than christina’s, but those were different times. sales are at an all time low!

she went with a wrong first single and a wrong video

fact is – she has not that loyal fanbase as britney – xtina has to deliver great music with a great voice – and she just simply has not delivered a great album this time! the bonus tracks have been way better than the majority of the album

if she gets her s*** together for the next time, she will be fine – but she needs to find a niche for her own, cause she does not cater to the teens, which is a problem, she needs to connect more to the adult buyers and she will do well next time

all in all, i guess the time of her blockbuster sales will be over – but she can establish herself by selling around 2 to 3 mill. ww each cd

always thought of her as the cyndi lauper of our generation – way more talented than madonna – but not as recognized

  75. xxx January 5, 2011

burlesque is doing good for a movie like that – during a time where people want to see 3d movies with action

but i still don’t get how that movie cost 55 mill.? for what?

  76. tones January 5, 2011

As a die hard fan of Christina and Ciara, I am so freaking mad that they both flopped so bad this year. They’re both of Jive Records which just cracks me the hell up because the first singles off Bionic and Basic Instinct were decent hits and a little buzz began about the albums but they weren’t promoted at all and they after a few weeks they both were off the charts. Christina and Ciara need to take like a year off from music, focus of something like modeing or acting, just to keep their names out there. Neither one of them have major endorsements like the competition: Christina vs. Britney and Gaga and Ciara vs. Beyonce and Rihanna. But I think Christina should release a new album in the fall(November or December) or the spring of 2012 and Ciara should comeback in the spring of 2012 and they both should go with a new sound and imagine while keeping their roots.

  77. CHECKMATE January 5, 2011

WOW!!! There are some really good comments in this thread. iHope this reaches her and she gets to read every comment for herself.

TRENT…GOOD JOB!! This feature article was a good read!!

  79. Dave January 5, 2011

“Furthermore, Christina’s Burlesque’ has done pretty good, it has sold almost 300k in in the states and nearly 400 to 500k ww.

No your facts or keep your mouth closed.”

    & YASS I agree w/ MISSIMPARTIAL, PHIL, & ROYALKEV

& critics may have gave her bad reviews (a few of them), but PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY WENT OUT TO SEE THE MOVIE & DIDN’T WANT HER TO HAVE A BAD PERFORMANCE OR DIDN’T ALREADY SET THEMSELVES IN THE MINDSET THAT THEY’RE GONNA HATE IT SAY NOTHING, BUT GREAT THINGS ABOUT IT! TRENT FALL BACK! Sure she didn’t make all the profits to match the movies “production” cost, but her reviews have been stellar, Burlesque soundtrack is selling great for a soundtrack (will be gold soon), She got Golden globe nominations, & she just released a single with T.I. Her career didn’t blow back up w/ “Burlesque” but it’s def heading in the right direction. & for all those telling her what she needs to be, you are not her so FALL BACK! She’s an artist she’s gonna do what she wants. How boring is it for an artist to keep making the same type of music back to back? LAME! Christina isn’t a genre, she’s many facets of music. She will be fine soon enough. & those talking about her attitude, do you know her personally? Sure she’s made some bad remarks, but how does that define her whole character. If you haven’t been around somebody enough to see how they are fully, how can you judge them & their personality? exactly, FALL BACK!

  80. spunkypoop January 5, 2011

She is just at a low point sorry to say but RADIO and MASS MEDIA has turned cold on her. Hopefully, they will let her back in. It’s up to them, sorry to say. Her last album was one of the BEST UNDERATED ALBUMS In HISTORY! and Still not a Radio hit! and her video was killer HOT! not that much airplay. #TooBAD

  81. spunkypoop January 5, 2011

Or could it be she was coming out in LADY “LORD” GAGA’s space and that is something you just DON’T DO!

  82. ayo_ronnie January 5, 2011

    @George Liquor

She is fat and she was fat before her pregnancy! Fool I weigh 147 lbs! Anyways its funny when someone speaks on mooriah u girls get all panicked! Trent was calling Xtina fat when she gained weight when clearly Mooriah was bigger! This article did have some valid points but trent doesnt like Xtina! Why did he even bring up mooriah when she hasnt experienced anything that xtina went through this past year! Her breackdown came from her overworking herself! Mooriah can do no wrong in Trents eyes, so our course he’ll trash Xtina and bring up Mooriah to make her apppear superior!

  83. JB January 5, 2011

Big ego or not, Christina is not an artist that should be struggling, not with her talent. These Golden Globe Nominations are a start. Even though Burlesque was a flop, many I know that have gone to see it have nothing but positive things to say about it. And that’s better than a movie that was a hit at the box office but in reality many didn’t like it. The move will most likely do well on DVD.

It is a shame that Bionic did as horrible in sales as it did because the music on it is really good. It’s not as good as Stripped-her best album to date, but then again it may be hard for her to really top Stripped. While Back to Basics is a solid effort, it doesn’t even measure up to Stripped. Either way, Bionic definitely deserves recognition.

She obviously went with the Electro pop road because that’s the trend right now. However, like some of have already said, when you have a voice like Christina, you don’t have to worry about fitting in with the trend. Christina posses true talent. She does however need to work on her performances and not over sing.

Christina should get back to making music that will accentuate her vocal abilities but tell stories at the same time. With Stripped, that was a a raw album. She could not have picked a better title because it is such an honest collection of music with diversity. Christina needs not to brag in so much of her music. She needs to clean up her image, and this can be done without changing who she is.

I’m still pondering on what can be done to regain her successful career. One thing is for sure, she should not give up. There is a difference between being treated like a hasbeen and actually being a hasbeen.

  84. Xisme January 5, 2011

what are you blabbing about trent? first of all bionic flopped only because of lack of promotion which was very clear, Not myself Tonight could have been a top ten if not five hit but she failed to promote it and when she did there was a rise in Not Myself Tonight sales, She let bionic go probably because of her marriage failure the second single was never released worldwide it was only released in America with no promotion. secondly the film, the film is doing great it grossed $11+million in foreign countries and is still to be released in over 40 country’s it will make much more than its production cost $55million. its already at $49million that is no flop and you know it, Mariah Careys was a flop theres a difference here, Mariah Careys film failed to make what over $5million worldwide Christina’s currently at $49million and still grossing and still to be released, i clearly see a huge difference there. Trent you always try and shoot Christina down when you see her rising, this time she wont be shot down because you dont have the power to do that, Christina has never been badly criticized for her acting and the film is doing good, Bionic failed because she didn’t want to do it, her next album will be her come back.

  85. Chris January 5, 2011

First off “Burlesque” is still making money worldwide, and hasn’t even opened in a handful of markets yet. So get your facts right, first off. It needs six million to make it’s budget back, and I believe it will do so. Before you call it a flop, it’s still making money worldwide.

  86. Xisme January 5, 2011

don’t forget she got some amazing things this year and she was never treated as a has been.
Trent you also forgot to mention the positive things that happened this year for christina, she got a Star on the Walk of Fame, she has a golden globe nomination and stared in her first film which is doing just fine, shes found love again “which is something that you need to find” and she helped feed over 90million children, everyday christina becomes more of a legend than a star. What did you do last year? did you do better?

  87. Sugaranice January 5, 2011

Her career will be fine.. The word on the street is the Bionic album is too much of everything! The picture on the Cover of the album didn’t help either with GaGa now being the Queen of extreme. Christina made herself look like a copycat of someone when she has proved she can be great in her own right.

  88. sityourassdowntrent January 5, 2011

Dont you have anything better to do with your life then write hateful articles about Christina? Burlesque is a flop? It earned over 45 million dollars just in USA and movie still didnt open in more than 40 countries!! It actually openin next week in most of the European countries.
Why dont you write about Ciara and her failed career? She is a has-been, her Basic Instict sold what 20 000 in US and failed to chart in UK and Europe, or Nelly Furtado and how her The Best Of album failed to chart Billboard? Or how Kelly Rowland album will flop after out of 3 singles she release 2 flopped?
Pressed much? SIit your ass down.

Burlesque will released in the end of January *in Indonesia & other few country. So Burlesque number will be increase more than 50mil. Bionic is my FAV album from Christina Aguilera so far. All the bad thing in 2010 happened because the crazy unjustified blog/media like this! Apparently the hate things {on xtina} is the cool thing to do in 2010. smh*

& Althought this Article is kinda unnehcessary. I have to say that this has the Smartest-Best comments in this insane blog. *as far as I see*

“She obviously went with the Electro pop road because that’s the trend right now. However, like some of have already said, when you have a voice like Christina, you don’t have to worry about fitting in with the trend. Christina posses true talent. She does however need to work on her performances and not over sing.”

When she had already start to work on “Bionic” & ideas for it dating back to around 2007? & she had already started to release songs of the sort in 2008 w/ “Keeps Gettin’ Better: A Decade of Hits”? ex: Keeps Gettin’ Better, Dynamite, You Are What You Are (Beautiful)? etc.. Christina was already where people we’re just starting to get it. She’s always 2 steps ahead of the game. She just happened to be done w/ her work after that supposed era had it. & her stuff was way more electro than what had been released, & actually “Bionic” touched on many facet’s of music, from genre to genre.

  91. Prince January 5, 2011

@Surgaranice i totally agree with u she had too much going on in that Bionic album. I was thinking maybe she was testing her voice to see what Genre her voice fits better in or something. I think she need 2 stay in 1 lane next album. She needs 2 leave Electro Pop alone bcuz it seems like people only want GaGa,Britney and Rihanna 2 do Electro Pop and i think Beyonce might get away with doing Electro Pop.
@Woohoo i take that back about calling Christina the white Whitney houston i was giving Christina 2 much credit lol. But her voice is the closes 2 the Back In The Day Whitney. Christina does need 2 learn technicality and how 2 control her voice some more.

The difference between Xtina and Mariah Carey, is that Mariah’s career reached heights Xtina’s can only ever dream of. Mariah had a pedestal to climb back on to, whereas Xtina has never been the top female in any genre she has been in. Yes, she has had success, but there has always been another artist more relevant than Xtina. She should sit down for a while and throw her disgusting attitude in the bargain bin, along with Bionic – that’s the first step to her comeback. If she doesn’t lose the attitude, then its game over for her! Forget the sound and styling of her music, she needs to concentrate on her attitude and image. Her talent is unquestionable, so if she gets her image and the negativity that follows her like the plague right, the rest may follow.

  94. Leah January 5, 2011

LMAO at this bald headed ass f*** comparing Burlesque to flop ass Glitter.

  95. THAT PUM PUM JUICE January 5, 2011

I think she should have made a HAWT video of ‘Whoo Hoo’ with Nicki. That single was super hot and I’m sure if she made a video and did performances of that song on shows like The View, Letterman, Leno, Ellen ect the album would have had increased sales.

I think the video for ‘Not Myself Tonight’ was what held people back. She had too many things going on in that video. It was hard to focus and enjoy. She should have just kept 3 looks and made the dance routine continue throughout the video (kinda like Single Ladies) instead of having so many scenes.

The Bi-onic album was a bit choppy and I do agree that the bonus tracks should have been on the album (Birds of Prey, Monday Morning, Little Dreamer). I also think the album did not flow properly…it was kinda all over the place.

I would have loved for her of had the title track, Bi-onic released as the first single, because it was a fresh sound and the critics and her fans where expecting the ‘futuristic sound’ that she promised. The performance she did on the MTV Movie Awards was hot! She killed it with that performance and it was good introduction to the album. I also think that Monday Morning should have been on the actual album and used as a second single and the Whoo Hoo and then Not Myself tonight/You Lost me.

Oh well…if we could only turn back time. The Bi-onic album deserves 4 out 5 stars, but her promotion was left too late and her image for the album was just silly. Her comments about lady gaga are what hurt her as well.

Hope she has a big comeback for 2011.

    Good luck X-Tina!

I saw a recent French interview where they asked Christina Aguilera what music she she listens to. #1 on her playlist was John Coltrane. I was amazed. Then she listed Etta James, John Lennon, Nina Simon, Sade, and Aretha Franklin. At her heart she powerful blues singer with a lot jazz, soul, and even gospel elements thrown in. And the power balads, OMG! The list of her power balads that will stand the test of time is phenomenal: Lift Me UP, Climb Ever Mountain, The Voice Within, Hurt, Beautiful, A Song for You, and now Bound to You. How can you label an artist who has produced works like these a flop. And I’m sure the well isn’t dry yet. As for her being a b****, I’ve watched her interviews and I think she a very intelligent artist who doen’t do small talk very well. She seems to always be thinking on another artistic level. I’m wish well. We need gifted artists like Christina and Mariah to keep creating beautiful, inspiring new music in the tradition of the great artists that came before.

  97. Keesha January 5, 2011

“Why is a Rihanna fan attacking Mariah Carey? You do know that Rihanna is a fan of her music? Also Rihanna is an atrocity to music, so you have no room to talk bad about anyone. I don’t like, Christina but the woman can sing he ass off.”

I know that you meant “the woman can sing HER a** off” and I agree. I don’t understand why someone who supports an artist that is just popular and has no talent thinks that they have the right to attack someone who is a fan of a person who is extremely talented and is a living legend and an icon.

Christina just needs to make good music. I’m not saying that all of the music off of her new album wasn’t good, because I have heard some good songs off of it, but it seemed as if she was trying to follow the trend of today’s music (ex. “Not Myself Tonight”). You know, that techno/dance type beat , and that is not her style, at least not to me. She needs to make the good music that she knows she can make. That is what makes me mad about a lot of talented artists out there. They have success with an album or many albums because they did THEM and then all of a sudden they decide to just go along with the trends, and you see that it never works out for them. You have to stay true to yourself.

  98. ME January 5, 2011

I think it’s to early to call “Burlesque” a failure it 39 countries that it has yet to be released in and movie company will consider a movie sucessful as long as it doesn’t get look over during award season if that happen that don’t care how much money was made it’s a faliure.

  99. JB January 5, 2011

@Dave “When she had already start to work on “Bionic” & ideas for it dating back to around 2007? & she had already started to release songs of the sort in 2008 w/ “Keeps Gettin’ Better: A Decade of Hits”? ex: Keeps Gettin’ Better, Dynamite, You Are What You Are (Beautiful)? etc.. I’m a Christina fan, so I’m already aware of this information.

  100. DJ January 5, 2011

The problem is that we focus sooo much on gimmicks and image that we don’t focus on music anymore. When I was growing up artists didnt have to wear bright wigs, robot and space cadet suits they just brought their music. Record companies don’t care about talent they just want the money. Christina Aguilera is one if not the best singer of the last decade. Her biggest mistake was going on hiatus. Now a new generation of talentless and mediocre artists are on top. I always thought that Christina vocally was too good for pop music. The best thing for her now is to pick herself up and make a record that’s real, sincere, and vocally amazing on the borders of Stripped sans gimmicks and unnecessary imagery

  101. MiG January 5, 2011

After reading almost all the comments here I just thought to myself how popular Christina really is. First of all getting to be talked about is something! Meaning she still does turn heads and thats what artists needs specially in their industry. I have always been open minded in terms of music and artist and needless to say I am a fan of hers (Christina). I have seen her grow and has always been impressed with her as a whole. I believe that Christina as an artist will last longer than we all will expect.

BIONIC- I got the album and dug deeper into merely just enjoying the package. All I can say is that when you look and listened beyond what others think and feel for the album? You can say the material is not overrated rather really good! It’s raw, creative and emotionally driven to express and touch facades of music. It’s not gaga-ish or whatever comparison you might say. Buy it! Listen to it! appreciate it! for me its worth the wait and the money! It’s sad that it has no Grammy nominations because there are materials in the album that deserves awards!

BURLESQUE- It’s true that domestically it did not surpass the budget that is 55M dollars. But up to date it has grossed pretty well! I know that we can finally conclude when the 6 month run is over starting from its released date. So far the movie is doing good and I have to praise the efforts in making a beautiful movie! Not to forget the soundtrack is outstanding and brilliant. I know that the movie will still reach greater heights let us not be negative and put an end to what can be great not just for Aguilera but for the whole movie industry.

CHRISTINA AGUILERA- Is a legend and has paved a way for many of her fans and supporters! I admire her talent and her strength as a person. No one is perfect and no one has the right to label or discriminate. We should learn how to appreciate more what others can do. Christina just needs to keep on doing records because there are still those who look up to her. I know she once said “she does not need to sell a million as long as she does what she thinks and feels right” and touches people is what matters most! She is an icon of our generation and achieved so many at the age of 30! just imagine that not all is given the opportunity to do what she has done! Sorry if I may sound so in to her?! I just love her artistry and workmanship! GO XTINA! That’s all….

  102. Nichole January 5, 2011

Burlesque is a box office bomb just like Glitter, and the only difference is that Burlesque made more money. On top of that, there were no major actor and actresses in Glitter unlike in Burlesque.

Burlesque failed to make a profit, and that is why the film bombed.

What can Christina do? Work on her s***** attitude, get back to basics with her music and stop trying to be something she’s not. Stop trying to compete with the Britney’s, Rihanna’s and Lady GaGa’s of the world. She needs to learn how to just be herself, and stop jumping on bandwagons to desperately try to stay relevant.

Christina once said she has nothing to prove, but that is completely false. She still has long ways to go in the music biz, and she definitely has more to prove. If she actually believed she didn’t, then she wouldn’t be so desperate not to mention fake.

The fact remains that Christina has been trying to compete with Britney, and be on her level since their debut albums. Brit has always toppled over Christina in everything, except talent. But these days. most people don’t give a damn about real talent and if Christina doesn’t get it together, she’s gonna end up a has-been just like a good deal of real singers.

Personally, I’m glad Bionic and her movie flopped because during this era, she deserved no success. Success comes to those with a positive attitude, and outlook on life. Christina apparently know nothing about either one.

Christina needs to stick recording albums like Stripped, and B2B because that work is where her heart is. Not Electro Pop and all of that other stuff. Leave that stuff up to the female singers who aren’t as close to talented musically as she is (Britney, Rihanna, GaGa, Katy Perry, Kesha etc.)

Frankly, I don’t think Aguilera should be working on a new album. Instead, she should be trying to find herself. Figure out who she really is, because she has some serious identity issues.

Come back in 2012-2013 with a new album, and make sure the material is right this time.

  103. JB January 5, 2011

One bad album does not make her a failure, plenty of big names have had flops. She tried something different this time around, I personally loved the album people sayin she did this because of Gaga and Britney but yet she had already had the details about this album before Gaga hit it big. Besides she said this was her fun album a good place she was at in her life with her son bein born and such. No doubt can have a big comeback, she is in it for the long run. Stripped was her best album to me, and I’m sure Christinas next album will be hot especially with all that’s happened this year, no one deserves heartache and pain especially since u don’t personally know her.

  106. Ariana January 5, 2011

@MARTYN Yep, I agree — she actually said it. Actually on this video you can see where Christina herself called Mariah (quote) “my idol, Miss Mariah Carey” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpC-cJvVRYQ&feature=related it’s obvious that she’s fan of Mariah but after the little feud they had, Christina made sure to never mention again Mariah’s name.

  109. Royalkev January 5, 2011

I CAN’T WAIT TIL RIHANNA FALLS. MAY IT BE PUBLIC, LONG & AGONIZING FOR HER & HER DELUSIONAL STANS!

BACK ON TOPIC: XTINA, CHRIS BROWN, & MONICA ARE CHAMPIONS REGARDLESS OF WHAT PPL SAY! THEY WILL ALWAYS SUCCEED! XTINA CAN ACTUALLY SING UNLIKE THE RIHANNA’S & KE$HA OF THE WORLD.

  111. Brandon33 January 5, 2011

One thing is clear: Christina Aguilera is only 30 years old. Like it or not, she has too large back catalog and a string of hits to be made completely irrelevant by just one bad year. There’s a lot left in her brand.

And Bionic wasn’t a bad album, especially when you listen to it in context with a lot of albums that came out in 2010 and sold better. Bionic wasn’t a cohesive album, it didn’t really have anything to say, but a lot of the tracks were great individually. “S** for Breakfast,” “WooHoo,” “Elastic Love,” “Lift Me Up,” and “You Lost Me,” were great album tracks that stand up against a lot of what we got in 2010 from Pop/R&B acts. What killed Bionic was a lukewarm first single with a video that fanned the flames of all those b******* Gaga comparisons.

So, where to take her career from here? Honestly, I already think she’s on the right track.

She’s mentioned already that she’s begun the work for her next album, and that she wants it to be like Stripped, conceptually. A lot of people have taken this to mean that we’re going to get another “Dirty” and “Beautiful,” but I think that’s a little too simplistic.

Think back to what the music climate was like when Stripped came out. Stripped was released at the height of the revitalized Pop movement that began around 1999 and went into the early 2000’s, when the music industry was SWARMING with cookie-cutter, goody-good Pop acts. Christina was originally marketed as one of those very acts, but hated the control and fakeness forced upon her by record execs. Stripped was her breaking free of that control. What made Stripped so good wasn’t just the production; it was that the album, as a whole, really had something to say. Christina, now Xtina, was done being fake. She was Dirty, she was flawed, and she could get knocked down but would definitely get back up again. With Stripped, Xtina had something to say.

THAT’s what I think she’s doing with this album.

After a horrible year of terrible publicity, a flopped album, a bombed movie, and a very public divorce, Christina definitely has a lot to say. Not Just lyrically, but vocally and conceptually. I don’t think saying the album is “like Stripped” is going to mean “Beautiful pt. 2”. I think this is going to mean that we get an album that really CONNECTS to what Christina Aguilera is feeling as an artist which, frankly, was the one vital thing that Bionic lacked.

And I think that’s all she really needs to do. Xtina did have a horrible year, but she’s still got a lot of star power. I don’t think that she’s so far gone that a good album wouldn’t help her. Make an album that she and her audience can connect to on a deeper level than just a bangin beat, it’s what she did with Stripped. If she does that (and stays the HELL away from anything Gaga-related), I think she’s be fine in 2011. Better than fine, actually.

  112. Nichole January 5, 2011

@Leah. How about if you STFU? People don’t have to know Christina personally to know she has a crappy personality.

Everyone from Pink, Mariah, Britney, Mary J. Blige, etc has made references to how nasty Christina is.

And while reading an article on Perez from a fan who wanted to meet Christina, she was very rude. No surprise there.

Sometimes, we can see in interviews and how people talk. How they carry themselves, and all around the Stripped era Christina came off as nasty and arrogant.

    Kinda like Willa Ford.

  113. George Liquor January 5, 2011

@ Ayo-Ronnie I am no girl, I don’t know that you weigh 147 and I don’t care what you weigh. The point was, that you should not talk about her weight because she is not fat and never has been the woman deserves more respect then that. You should grow up a little. If you don’t like her music that’s fine, but you don’t need to take shots at her weight,it’s just pathetic.

  114. i&i(yardie style) January 5, 2011

Christina Aguilera will be fine. She now knows what sound works for her and what doesn’t. One flop album does not make her a has-been. She also needs to tone down her over sexual acts.

  115. George Liquor January 5, 2011

I think Christina will be fine, she has talent that most singers would kill for.I’m not a fan,but I do respect her voice.

  116. True Blue January 5, 2011

    @ Nichole:

Then how do you explain people like Kanye never flopping? Last I checked, he’s not humble and has been known to act like very immaturely over trivial things, would you call that having a “positive attitude and outlook on life”? I love how some people act like she’s the worst human being ever. No, success comes (or rather, SHOULD come) to those who are talented, work hard and put out a good product. If Christina was downright impossible to work with or was as bad as bad as say, Mel Gibson, then I could understand perfectly well why people would wish her to flop, and would agree.

And where’s the proof that Britney, Mariah, Pink, Mary etc. said that about Christina? Because there are people who have personally met her and worked with her that have had nothing but nice things to say about her. She’s not perfect, that’s for sure, but she’s not evil, either. And using an article written by a fan who may or may not be telling the truth (lots of people make up or exaggerate stories about meeting celebrities) that was posted on PEREZ HILTON, of all places, is HARDLY a reliable source. You know that dude is a two-faced, backstabbing b****. He went from acting like he was Christina’s best friend to trying to start s*** between her and Gaga.

And Madonna isn’t any better in regards to attitude, but something tells me that you would never think she would deserve to flop on that account.

  117. January 5, 2011

You know what? People hate on Xtina because they’re JEALOUS.

Her voice is one in a million and THAT’s A FACT.

All of this hatred is because of jealousy.

  118. Kyle January 5, 2011

I think the key for Aguilera is to just stay in her lane and don’t try to emulate what everyone else is doing. As much as she denied it when “Bionic” dropped, but I seriously thought she was trying too hard to do what Lady Gaga was doing. From the style of the music to the fashion, it just SCREAMED “WANNABE.” It will continue to be a struggle for her though because Lady Gaga isn’t going anywhere. I think she should stick to what she does best and just SING those songs. “Back 2 Basics” was a good look for her because nobody else was really doing that at the time. She’ll come back, I have faith in her because her talent is too good to be ignored. Just do YOU Christina.

  119. Alex January 5, 2011

LOL! That was an utterly awful post. Do you seriously have nothing better to write about? What’s better yet, if you’re going to write BS, could you please proof read what you’re writing. Lunacies are hard to consider when the writer can’t communicate.

    @ NICHOLE-

B****, DON’T EVEN PUT BURLESQUE IN THE SAME SENTENCE AS GLITTER!!!!

BURLESQUE GOT A BETTER RESPONSE FROM THE GENERAL PUBLIC AS OPPOSED TO CRITICS…

Glitter was made on a 22 million budget and only brought in a little over 5 million and got all NEGATIVE reviews from critics and the public…Burlesque was made on a 55 million budget and has almost made all of that back and got a great response from the general public…so no Burlesque is NOT considered a flop!

Y’all Rihanna and Gaga and Kesha and Katy stans are just SCARED because this year all the REAL talents who don’t need GIMMICKS are coming back and talent is going to be the “IT” thing again!

  123. stan January 5, 2011

bionic flopped because of bad single choices. they would’ve been better off releasing “bionic” or “elastic love” instead of NMT. and “you lost me” in the summer? what were they thinking?

  124. Hello2011 January 5, 2011

This is how the singles should’ve been released

    1. Use a 30 second clip of Bionic then transition into Vanity

“Christina Aguilera will be fine. She now knows what sound works for her and what doesn’t. One flop album does not make her a has-been. She also needs to tone down her over sexual acts.”

I agree. Like I said before, she just needs to be true to herself with her music.

    “Keesha

I never said that a Rihanna fan/stan can’t talk about who has talent or not, I said that I don’t understand how someone who is a fan of someone with no talent and who is just popular thinks they have the right to talk about someone with talent. I really should have added, ‘and thinks that their comments will be taken seriously.’ I honestly could care less if Rihanna or any singer sees what I have posted, because I wasn’t posting this for them. I was just posting my opinion. I have no problem with Rihanna or any other untalented artist out there getting money, because I know that I have never given them any of MY money, and I never will. The artists with talent that make good music will get my money.

  126. Keesha January 5, 2011

    “RihannaForever

That is very true. I will never be happy over someone failing.

  127. Mari January 5, 2011

Yeah, what “STAN” said. If what I’m about to say has been said, I apologize . . .

Christina’s “attitude” had little to do with why Bionic flopped. Christina was cocky for all her other albums, but because this one didn’t sell well, it’s time to blame her attitude.
Her attitude isn’t why the project failed. It’s just an excuse cry, “shadenfreude, oh how the mighty have fallen.”

Christina flopped because because of all the Gaga comparisons, her single choices (like others have already said), and her long hiatus in between albums which certainly didn’t help. After Dirty and BTB Christina rebranded herself as this “family values” person that was above the fray when Britney was having her meltdown and behaving badly in the press with LiLo and Paris. X-Tina did some magazine spreads and interviews with the husband and the baby, posing as a more, subdued, domestic, homemaker type. Then, out of the blue, the NMT single and video drop, which flied in the face of this new happy homemaker image, and made her shock value Bionic image look like a desperate ploy to stay relevant . Plus the single and vid came out in the midst of Little Monster mania and the copy-mouse criticisms ensued.

  128. gabs January 5, 2011

The problem with Christina is she tries to do the s*** popstar thing when people want her to do the classy diva thing. She doesn’t have the appeal or it factor to be the s*** popstar of the moment BUT she does have the voice to be in the league of celine dion and whitney houston. Its why Back to Basics was so loved. People thought, finally she gets it! We want classy mature xtina singing with more soul, Shes not trying to be Britney anymore! And then she slapped us all in the face with Not Myself Tonight where shes close to naked and humping girls. I don’t think that she intended to copy gaga or anything, I just think she made the wrong decision to go electropop. Her voice works better with rock type songs, classic ballads, or jazz. Bascially, she has to stop trying to do the s*** thing. Could you imagine if Leona Lewis started wearing glittery bras and booty dancing? There are certain singers(the ones with incredible voices) that just can’t go the britney/madonna/janet route. Xtina needs to class it up to be liked!

  129. Gucci January 5, 2011

is @Keesha still talking about talent? Girl can you please extend your vocabulary? That’s the only word you’ve been using since last year to justify why your faves keep flopping. Why would anyone need YOUR money if they’re breaking records? Apparently YOUR money isn’t as important since your faves who got YOUR money have flopped.

    Sorry boo.

I don’t know why Rihanna’s name got brought up in this again, and whoever did it needs to stfu this is clearly about Christina and her flop ass movie and album.

  130. Steven January 5, 2011

Last time I saw this h** she was trying to stuff a plantain down her throat! Nasty trick!

  132. True Blue January 5, 2011

    @ Gucci:

Yeah, I guess Keesha should be talking about how many #1s her faves have instead of talent. That would make her sound so much more intelligent in her arguments, right? Like your fellow stans do?

Only thing I agree on is that Rihanna and other artists should not be brought up in this post for comparison because that has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

  137. Jer January 5, 2011

Sam, I would consider your review harsh if it wasn’t for the truth. I feel bad for Christina but LIKE OTHERS SAID: this is just the reality check her ego needs. SIT YO ASS DOWN already! With Stripped she came out acting like she was a legend because “Beautiful” did better than Mariah Carey’s “Through the Rain” both big inspirational ballads released October 2002. Christina was at self parody this year. It was emberrasing to see her live performances as well as that awful Burlesque. Didn’t Mariah’s fatass flop hard enough in the early 2000’s to show these hos how NOT to do it. omg i can’t even say… Christina needs to just go away for awhile or release a duet with C-ERROR. These b****** flopped so hard this year even ASHANTI is like OH DAMN GIRL

I wasn’t even talking to you though. And it’s no the first time Keesha has been saying that. She jumps on virtually any post where Rihanna is mentioned and talks about how she has no talent. Why are you in it if I wasn’t talking to you?

Same goes for @RihannaForever. Stop trying to pull the “oh look at me I’m different from other rihanna stans” card boo boo before I clock your tea. Keesha knows what I was getting out and the rest of you don’t so please take a seat in the trash.

Chile, not today. Now get back on topic and shut the f*** up.

  144. dang January 5, 2011

I want so badly for this year to be her year- she needs a massive hit, in the latter hal of the year, after Britney and Gaga. She cannot afford to let her personality and hauteur to get in the way of her talent, because unlife her peers, she can sing! She should not have bothered with Burlesque at all, and she at least should’ve released one more single from Bionic.

  145. True Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Blue January 5, 2011

    @ Rated X:

What s*** did she talk about Gaga besides the overblown “I don’t know if it’s a man or woman” statement? I’m pretty sure if she spent every interview shading Gaga, then it would be the only thing she’d have made the headlines for last year.

    @ Gucci:

So no one has a right to an opinion on artists they DON’T like? And just because you weren’t talking to me doesn’t mean I can’t point out how retarded you sound. In case you didn’t notice, this isn’t a private chat room, it’s a blog, where comments are on public display for all to see. You don’t want to be called out, then don’t comment.

And how is Rihanna Forever pulling the “oh look at me I’m different from other rihanna stans card “? It’s not like she PRETENDS to be neutral and then behaves like a stereotypical Rihanna stan at other times.

    Idiot.

  146. RihannaForever January 5, 2011

    @Gucci
I completely agree with True Blue. I’m not your stereotypical Rihanna stan and therefore, I’m not pulling some sort of card. I was simply stating that True Blue did nothing to sound idiotic as you stated and Keesha simply commented on Rihanna.

I don’t understand what you’re even trying to say because it isn’t true.

  147. RatedXxX(aka rated X) January 5, 2011

I THINK CHRISTINA CAN SHUT DOWN ALOT OF THESE YOUNG ARTISTS!!! HER VOICE IS UNDENIABLE. SHE NEEDS TO DO A STRAIGHT R AND B ALBUM REMINISCENT OF THE 80S APOLLONIA/VANITY 6 DAYS.THAT IS WHERE SHE NEEDS TO BE.SHE IS THE NEW TEENA MARIE ,AND COULD DO HER STYLE OF MUSIC OR MAYBE A REMAKE OF ONE OF HER SONGS. SHE HAS SOUL.SHE NEVER WAS OR NEVER WILL BE A POP ARTIST.SHES A SOUL SISTER FROM ANOTHER MOTHER LIKE TEENA MARIE R.I.P.. WE ARE ROOTIN FOR YOU CHRISTINA!! I STILL SAY “STRIPPED ” IS HER BEST ALBUM, BUT THE TRACKS ON “BIONIC” THAT DESERVE ATTENTION ARE “S** FOR BREAKFAST” AND “I AM”:HAD HER LABEL RELEASED THOSE IT WOULD BE PLATINUM BY NOW.

  149. Atitude Adjustment ****** January 5, 2011

  150. socialstudy1 January 5, 2011

I feel like everyone has made some valid points about Christina.
I am a fan and probably will always be a fan. I must have been one of the few people that loved her Bionic album. It was something a little different for her, ….agreed, but I think because the media said it was a flop, everyone called it a flop. (Listen to it)
Also, I don’t kind of agree with the personality thing. She needs to work on that. She doesn’t come across as geniune sometimes…….b!tchy.

I frustrates me that our society focuses that true talent way, but we praise artists like, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, and Taylor Swift.
It sucks when artists like Christina have to compromise their talent to be considered successful.

  151. Atitude Adjustment ****** January 5, 2011

What? Christina never insulted Gaga. Besides, in a sense, Christina’s responsible for sparking interest in Gaga.

  154. Jordan January 6, 2011

Burlesque was not a fail. Do you know what DVD sales are?

BIONIC was definitely a fail, however. It was a mediocre album at best. It had great ballads mixed with trash. But Back II Basics was the same.

I love her and wish a successful comeback.

  155. getatme January 6, 2011

A bitchy chick with a bad attutude who’s sexiness and appeal has LONGGGG GONE! Lets face it the VOICE has deminished as WELL and that is a fact! she jus needs to sit down and shut up and get back to her basics. Her whoring background doesnt help either ask DALLAS AUSTIN, he actually stated she basically fks for tracks and has a very nasty lifestyle…poor little rich girl

  156. RihannaForever January 6, 2011

    @Jordan
Exactly! People act like Burlesque was some huge flop just because it wasn’t one of the most successful films ever and because it was more successful outside of the US than in it.

  157. Paulie DeStar January 6, 2011

OKAY… I see some of y’all comenting on her attitude, right I forgot y’all know her personally… please stop talking trash, COME ON, Christina is still ONE of the best vocal artists that have been around since I have been! and why are people comparing her to Britney Spears? TOTALLY different people, I thought that bird flew a long time ago…

Anywho, BIONIC was a good album, I mean not as good as Stripped, Back To Basics and Christina Aguilera but it was a solid effort, (I still listen to it…cause I LOVE IT!) that still got to number 1, (despite the amount sold) I just think that the public was not ready for that side of Christina yet, and the Babydoll (burlesque, bluesy. jazzy Christina) has a lot more to give… AND I like the fact that EVERY album this girl has put out sounds completely different and she is always re-inventing herself with each one.

I see no comparison to Lady Gaga as they are both AMAZING in their own right, Christina just did music that was current in todays market…. but I guess the market changed rapidly…. look at Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, and Taylor Swift all of them teeny boppers bopping their way through there childhood and something I refuse to listen to as this is not good music, Their like 12 singing about love… I mean did y’all know the true meaning of love at 12?

I also think that the lack of promotion and the media didnt help with BIONIC do so good either… but I feel that this is just gonna be a little dent in Christina’s armor, like all the greats have had during their ever so traumatic way to the top, (look at Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Diana Ross and Etta James) BIONIC will be old news and probably become a cult classic and before you know it Christina will climb her way up hopefully her hard work will once again pay off and put her right where she belongs…. ONE OF THE GREATS!

Exactly. I hate it that people think Christina and Gaga hate each other in some way since they clearly do not.

  162. SCoop January 6, 2011

Christina will be OK. She’s an artist not a industry side ho. If she wanted to pull hit after hit she’d pull a Rihanna long ago after her first LP, and had an album out year after year. Christina doesn’t make album fillers, she makes solid albums. If you look back from her first LP to now you’d see the growth with her music. She’s one of a few artist that can sing different types music. Her strength is her powerful voice. I think the article said something about “the industry leaving her behind” but you don’t get named the Voice of a Generation by Rollingstone [side note she was #3-beating out some of ya favs] to not go down in history. Her collection of music will forever be wanted by fans to come long after she is gone. She’s the second top selling single artist of the 2000’s behind Madonna according to Billboard with 50 million albums worldwide making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time.

BI-ON-IC will be Christina’s version of Madonna’s Erotica. Didn’t do well as the other’s but it def. will become a classic cult type album for it’s bold take. I mean wasn’t it listed as the 2 most downloaded album of 2o1o (that’s says a lot).

Christina is like cream to coffee, all you gotta do is keep turning and she’ll rise to the top.

  163. iLoveXtina January 6, 2011

Bionic was underrated and deserved more, but the single releases made it seem like a horrible album.

She needs to do a few things:
    – find a producer that fits the direction she’s going in (i.e. RedOne/Gaga, Dr. Luke/Ke$ha)
    – get rid of the diva-tude
    – get rid of the over sexual image, you have a kid now gurl
    – take no more than 2 years to release an album. A new album every 4 years? You cannot do that in pop music. (which is why Gaga, Rihanna, & Taylor Swift releases something every year, & Bey & Katy Perry take no more than 2 years to come out with an album.)
    – More mid-tempos like Lift Me Up, Stronger Than Ever on the album, less ballads (they’re not as successful as before)

  164. ayo_ronnie January 6, 2011

    @ ILoveXtina:

Since that she now has a kid, I think she is more justified to take a few years in between albums. As long as her albums are always consistent in quality, it shouldn’t matter what the time span in between her albums are, I mean look at Sade. But I agree with everything else you said, though.

  166. Tami January 6, 2011

I cant at some on you!Christina will be fine. She can outsing most of your favs anyway. She has talent!

  167. Tami January 6, 2011

I agree the only reason she’s not doing well is because of all this BS now. All you need is a good beat and some catchy hook and it’s a HIT. No one cares about REAL TALENT and how well you can aCTUALLY sing.

  168. Jay January 6, 2011

The problem is Christina needs to stop going away for years at a time like everything she does is a masterpiece. Just considering her proper albums, Christina came out with one album when I was in middle school, one album when I was in high school, one album when I was in college, and one since I’ve graduated college. That’s an average of about 3 1/2 to 4 years per album. And then, her efforts have always been a bit hit-or-miss. Great voice, but Stripped was a little all over the place, B2B had a ton of hollering, and Bionic was more sound over substance. Add to that her vague aloofness and hubris and it’s no wonder she’s flopping all over the place.

I agree with the first poster — I’m glad she’s flopped. Maybe it will wake her up to realize she can’t keep doing the same thing all the time. She’s a narcissist and control freak. If you ever watch some Behind The Music-type special on her, it’s all I-I-I, me-me-me, my-my-my. Britney and Beyonce manage to not come across as massively self-involved as her. It’s probably because her whole life people have been kissing her ass about how great she is.

Honestly, whatever happens with her Golden Globe nom, she needs to come out with something this year or early next year. She doesn’t need to wait around another 3-4 years to become even more irrelevant, wait for another newcomer (or continue to get lapped by the likes of Katy Perry, Rihanna, and Gaga) and then try to recapture the spotlight with some tacky, garish, over-the-top music video (see: Not Myself Tonight) that people will pay attention to for all of five minutes.

  169. Anthony The Great January 6, 2011

People shouldn’t be too quick to count Christina Aguilera out! I believe she is 1 of the 2 most talented female singer of her generation. Christina has so much range range, control, and emotion with over voice. She will make a comeback but she needs to focus on her voice and stop trying to follow popular musical trends.

I totally agree w/ @ True Blue. Great Post.

  170. THE MAN TO BEAT January 6, 2011

ok so I have the perfect way she could come back:
she will be out being wierd driving around being mopy because owen is pressuring her to snap out of it. Just then there will be a car accident on the freeway. once her car stops, she gets a flash back of the traumatic event of the shooter in the OR. After she snaps out of it, she then sees a teenager crying in a car because the mom is unresponsive. She then proceeds to call 911 but her battery is dead, so she orders the teenager to run and get help. after the other drama that goes on at SG, the scene moves back to the highway where the ambulance arrives and christina is in the car proceeding to get the seat down so the mother can lie flat to get the board in so she could get into the ambulance, but the mother has to wake up before she could get into the ambulance. christina then tries to revive her using cpr and is a success. however, the mother wakes up and finds that her water has broken and that she bleeding from her vajayjay and she begins to black out again. Then commercial then more drama at SG with a surgery drama back to the highway, and then christina then says, “I need an IV she’s loosing fluid.” The mother then wakes up and says “My baby, is there anything wrong?” Then christina says we have to get to the hospital. so then they get her into the ER and shes trying to get the head of Peds, but hes FINALLY fired so she orders Karev to help out. everyone as usual is saying welcome back in annoyance and she yells at everyone saying, “IM NOT BACK.” Karev then has an emergency delivery and everything is fine until the mother can’t breath. Commercial, and back at the hospital Meridith apologizes to Christina for about two minuites and christina is about to say something until she f finds out that the mother has a teared chamber in her heart and shes bleeding by Avery. Because of that surgery that I mention earlier Teddy is in the other OR forcing Christina with the help of the S*** Dr Avery to help operate. During the surgery, teddy enters the OR and then knocks something over forcing christina to have an episode. Commercial and back to the OR Christina still frozen for about 2 minuites. teddy and S*** Avery saying “You Can do this.” Owen watching from above the observation deck goes into the OR and tries to put the knife out of her hand. christina then snaps out of it and saves the day. before the narration at the end, we see christina talking to the chief but because of Ellen’s voice we only see not hear, so we don’t know if she’s wants to come back or not.

  171. iLoveXtina January 6, 2011

    @True Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Blue

oh the time between B2B & Bionic was justified, but i think at this point her kid is old enough for her to come out with albums quicker, maybe 3 years tops is a good number.

One of the main reasons Bionic flopped was that it wasn’t her main priority, her marriage was and i think if she took some time away from Jordan to promote Bionic then her marriage might have been saved (absence makes the heart grow fonder).

  172. the kiddz January 6, 2011

Xtina needs to have a career talk with Pink and learn what it means to have longevity and being a relevant recording artist. Then she needs to call up Max Martin & Shellback and construct some Xtina versions of pop/rock songs for top 40, ac, and hot ac radio. The whole album will not be Max and Shellback, but these two write/co-write and produce hits yall.

  179. girlneeds2 January 6, 2011

Xtina has longevity but she mostly lives off of past hits, “Beautiful” in particular. In comparison, Pink just got a number 1 song and F’n Perfect will go top 5 at least (in the States). Pink is not a has-been and her summer tour from 2010 was the number 5 tour of 2010.

A few points: Burlesque has yet to be released everywhere in Latin America, Australia, most places in Africa and Asia, and several European countries. In the places where it has been released, with the exception of the US and Canada, it opened on late December, or during the first week of January (http://www.sonypictures.net/movies/burlesque/international/). So there’s no question the movie will recover it’s $55 million budget, and then some. Not to mention the profits from the sales of the soundtrack, make-up line, clothing line, and other related products; and future DVD/Blue Ray sales/rentals. Burlesque is far from becoming a commercial failure.

The “Glitter” comparisons are just ridiculous, $39 million (and counting) was a lot more than $5 million last time I checked; and the reviews are MIXED, the “Glitter” reviews were TERRIBLE, many, many critics labeled one of the “worst movies ever made”, that didn’t happen to “Burlesque”. So comparing the two movies is a bit of a stretch.

Oh, and there’s this little, tiny award called “Golden Globe” that both, Christina and the movie” are nominated for. So I guess not everything she touches “turns to rust”. Just saying.

  186. Kevin January 6, 2011

  188. January 6, 2011

Max martin is the shittiest producer ever. No thanks. HE contributed to the downfall of mainstream good music so it’s a BIG NO.

  189. Classy w/Common Sense January 6, 2011

See this is the problem with the industry today and why bloggers will never be regarded as true journalists ******WARNING, RANT COMING****. Christina Aguilera is a true artist. Her talent is unparalleled and it seems as though she’s punished for it. SOME of the critics, not all, claim her time has passed and that she’s un-original. If this is true, who is original? Ke$ha, Ga-Ga, Beyonce?? If you take all of their albums with ‘Bionic’, only Christina’s work truly stands out. Why is she hated on so much for having talent? That’s supposed to be a good thing. What other female singer of 26, as she was at the time, could sing James Brown and get a standing ovation for it? And yet some of you say she needs voice lessons. Really?

How is she less relatable then anyone else out there? Could it be because she’s a constant reminder of what a real singer is and that it would be hard to step into her shoes as opposed to say Britney Spears. Is this where we are in music society that Britney is thought of as a legend, but Christina is looked at as a has been, simply because her songs aren’t being played on the radio. Anyone can get on the radio these days. You record label just has to be able to put up the dough. I mean, come on, Akon?

Bionic sounds like nothing out today. Its very original and some of her best work. If you can praise lyrics like ‘rah, rah, Ga Ga’ and ‘Alejandro, Alejandro, Alejandro…Ale, Ale, Ale, Alejandro’ than you should be able to give Christina some credit. If music reviewers can compare Britney to Aretha and Tina Turner w/her last album ‘Circus’ (oh yeah, it’s true), than you can give Christina her props.

Let’s reward a strong work ethic and talent over flash and fads. Let’s stop saying she has a bad attitude based on rumors, because she not the only 1 who has been rumored to be a b****. Madonna anyone? But Madge still had her hits, mainly because that was still when music was about what the people wanted and not what the industry wanted, like it is now. Let’s stop penalizing an artist because no matter what anyone says, they’ll never be able to take away that singer’s unbelievable pipes. Let’s stop with all of the mean girl criticisms and give credit where credit is due. Most importantly, let’s not pigeon whole her into picking 1 genre of music for an album, when we all know she can sing the Alphabet. Let’s acknowledge she has a gift from God that sends chills up people’s spines.

  190. madamxtina January 6, 2011

@ s*** get a life hahaha really where’s Bey on rolling stones greatest voices and Britney and GaGa. Xtina is the youngest on their. Xtina pushed the envelope for the singers now adays stripped era. Has been really lmfao cause u seem to care what’s going on with her and talk about her. Golden globe nomination where’s Britney’s huh and gagas? That’s what I thought.

  191. Classy w/Common Sense January 6, 2011

If I were Christina, I would tell the music industry and all the haters to kiss my A$$. The woman is already rich and no-where near bankrupt, as some would like to believe. I do think she should tour, which she most certainly can do because of her fan base, and do endorsements. Take the profits from that and make music to be sold exclusively through her website so that the real fans can get it right from her directly. She should only release records to independent and satellite radio, with a concentration on the black/R&B outlets. She can have more pop material, but there should definitely be R&B tracks as well, to expand her audience. Black independent and satellite radio would appreciate her talent more. With the exception of this Oreo blogger, us black people acknowledge great soulful voices, for the most part. She should also be very prolific, releasing a collection (Album amount) of music every six months so that someday, when people gain use of their senses, will realize how powerful her body of work is

  192. ilovextina January 6, 2011

to the people saying she needs to work w/ Max Martin & Dr. Luke….. LOL STOP! they’re music is generic as FAWK & P!nk is only as relevant because she made that generic ass song.

  193. RatedXxX(aka rated X) January 6, 2011

    @RihannaForever

word of advice…..before u open ur mouth and pour out b*******,,,make sure u know what the f*** ur talking about…..

first of all xtina aint got s*** to do with GAGAs success in the game…

second xtina is known to talk s*** about her fellow artist who are doing 100% better than her….beybey, britney..see her old interview in blender magazine..

    GOOGLE THAT S***…

  194. iolastar January 6, 2011

Her voice will get her back to the top, but she just needs good songs. With the death of our beloved Ivory Soul Angel Teena Marie, maybe Christina should embrace a more R&B sound.

  195. January 6, 2011

^ Yes Christina (like Teena Marie) is the only white singer who can rival and match black singers. Not racist, just the truth.

  196. RatedXxX(aka rated X) January 6, 2011

I cant believe some dumb b**** on here has the audacity to say xtina made gaga famous..

    really..dude…

oh please, xtinas has been on gagas d*** since people started to make the comparisons…

have u seen gaga made any negative comments toward xtina/ or respond to her b*******?

    NOPE

gaga has also been compared to madonna..have u seen madonna go on interviews and talk s*** about gaga? NOPE

I dont give a damn who the hell u are..im gonna call ur a** out on ur b*******..being a fan of ur a** or not..

  197. @VonniMediaMogul January 6, 2011

She should just retreat from the spotlight, regroup, show she has matured, new PR people and management because clearly she does not know what she is doing. Everything on Bionic was unoriginal and every last bit of it was rehashed from someone else. I’m sure everyone was disturbed to see a new mom on all 4s licking out of a dogdish with that d*mn 11 yr old wet dream video…the hello kitty light up crotch suit? Yea she needs to go away, get professional help to rebrand and plan some sort of comeback for her because she has slowly gone down in flames since the first Gaga comparison.

  198. RatedXxX(aka rated X) January 6, 2011

reading all these comments from her stans, all I see is them makind excuses to why her comback failed……

they blame everybody and their mama before they actually admit the dam truth…

xtina was trying to compete with gaga, rihanna, beybey, brtney..when she released bionic…

if the broad is the best thing since slice bread, she doesnt need to compete with anybody else..her music alone should speak for themselves..
these biased comments on here kills me…

ive never said she wasnt talented, I even stated that she has one of the best voices out there,
but its her f***** up attitude thats f***** up her comeback

  199. RihannaForever January 6, 2011

    @TrueBlue
    LMFAO.

    @DBoy
LMAO I had exams a few weeks ago and let me just say that I was dying. Good luck!

And thanks. I also agree with you on how she was great from her 1st album to B2B but after all the success it’s like it got to her and I didn’t like the way she was being.

    @RatedXXX
Excuse me? First of all, what I meant was that Gaga reached success by herself, however, Christina helped to spark an interest in her. Learn to read before running your mouth. Also, if you’re going to talk about me, address it to me instead of being snide and insulting me and critiquing my comments sideways. It’s immature and pathetic, to say the least.

Also, Christina has but tons of other artists have. I’m sure half of your favs have done the same. Just because, as I assume, you don’t like Christina doesn’t mean you can begin to label her as an insulting person when tons of others have done moreso than she has.

  200. ilovextina January 6, 2011

BRAVO! Loved your post & I agree 100%

  201. S*** January 6, 2011

I am so sick of PPL overrating Strain-Tina’s horrible ass Voice!! calling her the Voice Of… when shes really the NOISE OF OUR GENERATION!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beyonce is the Voice & the Greatest of our Generation not Gargle-Tina!!!!!

Bey’s voice is more Unique & Soulful & Far more DYNAMIC & Versatile & shits on Xtina in almost all Aspects of Vocal Ability, Xtina is just LOUD, its ANNOYING!!

    Xtina could NEVER:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8wtoMPlrvM (VOCAL BEAST!!)

The Vocal Foursome: Whitney, Mariah, Beyonce & Celine.

WHOOPS, did I forget someone?? 😆

You Lost Me (american idol performance)

  206. ilovextina January 6, 2011

    @Drew

LOL! yeah @… is right. You Lost Me performance on American Idol.

It would have been wonderful if she really said it though lol

  207. Drew January 6, 2011

^^^Oh my God I wish she had, LOL. I would have died!

“You Lost Me” was one of my favorite tracks from Bionic. Too bad it wasn’t a big hit…

  208. theman January 6, 2011

Christina is amazing, but Mariah is in another league. Mariah has some of the best technique out there. Christina will be fine. She’ll comeback in a major way.

  209. ilovextina January 6, 2011

    @Drew
It was one of my favs as well. & it bombed cause stupid RCA wants to release a BALLAD in the SUMMER. WTF?

  210. Drew January 6, 2011

^^I know right! RCA is simply dumb. It’s almost as if they wanted her to flop! They should of released “Prima Donna”, “I Hate Boys”, or something like that as a single in the summer because ballads are do NOT work in the summer.

  211. RatedXxX(aka rated X) January 6, 2011

gurl once my other comments get approved (I’m guessing for including more than 1 link) check those vids out & bask in the glory that is Xtina’s voice.

    @Drew
Prima Donna would have been a smash during the summer! & then she should have released Lift Me Up etc. for the fall. Sometimes I wish I made the single choices, the way RCA handled it was a mess.

  214. Keesha January 6, 2011

@Gucci, first of all, I don’t jump on every Rihanna post and talk about her. Second of all, I wasn’t talking to you in the first place. And third of all, if you are going to join in on a conversation that didn’t involve you to begin with, at least try not to come off like a delusional idiot. It never fails with you.

    “@ Gucci:

Yeah, I guess Keesha should be talking about how many #1s her faves have instead of talent. That would make her sound so much more intelligent in her arguments, right? Like your fellow stans do?”

    Exactly.

  215. RatedXxX(aka rated X) January 6, 2011

  216. Drew January 6, 2011

    @ILoveXtina
Same! I seriously wish I chose the singles at RCA because they never seem to choose the right singles for their artists (Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera, Avril Lavigne). “Prima Donna” and “Lift Me Up” would’ve been perfect singles. I loooooved “Elastic Love” but I don’t think it was commercial enough.

    @RatedXXX
Not to defend Rihanna Forever, but who are you to be throwing words like that at her when she’s right and you aren’t? People on this site…

  224. strongerthanever January 6, 2011

    @ RATEDXXX

No, honestly, I only knew Gaga because of Christina. I immediately checked her stuff on youtube because they are associating Gaga with the super-talented Christina. Most of us acknowledge that there will never be as talented as Christina, and so we couldn’t believe some newbie gets associated with her, and so we checked and compared.

Turned out, she was wearing Kermit the Frog to shock. Poppy songs with HD music videos. Nothing more, nothing less. And her songwriting is mediocre at best. Couldn’t even compared to christina’s first paragraph in the song “stronger than ever.”

No hate her. Just my opinion 🙂

  225. Drew January 6, 2011

^^Out of curiousity, was that directed at Trent/Sam?

  226. Drew January 6, 2011

My previous comment was meant to be at Paul.

  227. JB January 6, 2011

To the people slamming Max Martin’s production abilities, wow lol. He’s one of my favorite music producers. He’s responsible for some of the greatest pop songs ever made. I miss the old bubble gum pop that Britney, Nsync, BSB, and dear Christina used to make (I love Christina’s music all around though, it’s her voice that does it for me not the genre). Pop today is usually either electro or rockish (pop/rock). Mind you, this is coming from someone who appreciates all types of music.

  228. SunDee January 6, 2011

Oh Lord this comment box was ruined because of few stupid stans…
cough* RateXXX & S**** you both are epidemic of stupidity & negativity.

  229. Dev January 6, 2011

Music isn’t what it was when Christina was at her peak and she tried to fit in. Sometimes people are comfortable with what they know and she should’ve stuck to the music and formula that made her popular. Christina alienated her core fans that are now grown with Bionic, and although it wasn’t a totally terrible album at this stage in her career and her age its not really the music to be making because in 5 – 7 years from now (which can be another 2 albums) Christina will be nearing 40 and the majority of the material on Bionic wouldn’t fit in t a concert, also i don’t think the majority of people would like to her the electronic tracks on stage. Christina needs to keep the comeback classic

  230. SunDee January 6, 2011

I’m so proud of each album/concept she brought to the table.
She is a great singer with diversity,
but ofcourse not everyone go the same flow as her.
    she’s talented… no matter what.

  231. FiercerMC January 6, 2011

    Bionic is a great album
It just came out at a wrong time… sigh
i love all the songs in there esp desnudate!!!
but, whatever, i’m keeping my fingers crossed that people support her on her next album release (whenever that would be)
I love ’em divas… christina, mariah, mjb, alicia

  232. FLOP&TOP January 6, 2011

In my opinion, X-tina did a great album but it wasn’t the way that fans were waiting (2 years since KGB), she promoted it wrong and 2010 wasn’t a good year for MANY people as it was to her….
She worked with some talented people in the WRONG time that didn’t fixed well on “Bionic” concept like, Pollow (Hip-Hop, electro songs), Sia (ACOUSTIC BALLADS), SANTIGOLD ( i loved but it wasn’t worthed, Tricky….
If she wanted a FUTURISTIC ALBUM with NEW SOUNDS she should had worked with Daft Punk, Röyksopp, Robyn, Golldfrapp (I DON!T KNOW WHY THEY DIDN’T FINISHED THEIR SONG WITH HER!!!), Free School, Crookers, La Roux, Ladyhawke, Little Boots, Oceanlab, Owl City, Ruscko…
And some songs like Birds of Prey and Little Dreamer (LADYTRON penned) ARE HITS, and it were deluxe tracks or pre order only.
But she will put the train on the right track, she is SOOOO f***n’ talented and she growed with this bad year. She still rockin’ even when she uses autotune, because she doesn’t need it!

  233. Here we go… January 6, 2011

Ok, some of these comments are ridiculous. I am speaking as an Xtina here for a second.

FACT: Bionic was a huge, gigantic, massive flop. Worst commercial disaster of her career, no questions asked.
FACT: Xtina’s divorce did not help matters and quick relationship has not helped matters.
FACT: The Gaga comparisons hurt her public image…
FACT: The NMT video combined with the Gaga comparisons KILLED her public image…
FACT: She waited too long again. People are unaware that she had been working on this album, since the beginning of 2007. Her hits album is the time this album should have come out.
FACT: Wrong single choices. Why put out NMT which has a decent beat, when you have songs such as Monday Morning which have a FRESH beat and are immediately relatable, theme songs. ANOM was a worldwide hit because it was different and fresh. Seems she forget all about that this go around.
FACT: She needs to reevaluate her music team at RCA helping make these decisions. Seems things were all over the place this go round.
FACT: Someone said that Christina has never been the #1 pop female artist at any point. How soon we forget that this chick ruled the pop world when Beautiful came out, followed by Fighter and that epic video. This is when she became an international artist (especially the UK) and expanded her fanbase.I would argue that that 2002-3, she was that chick.

    Lastly and most important….

FACT: You can never rule out talent. This is the same woman who has covered all genres: Woo-hoo (hip-hop), Get Mine, Get Yours (R & B), Impossible (Neo-Soul), ANOM (Jazz), Makes Me Wanna Pray (Gospel), Cruz (Country), Fighter (Rock), Elastic Love (Electro), not to mention all her straight pop hits….AND has given us some of the best live performances (remember James Brown tribute, I Love Porgy, etc. etc,). Whether you like Bionic or not, you have got to respect that she is truly one of…if not, the only commercial pop female artist out trying out everything. And 9 times of 10, doing it better than your anyone else.

  234. RIR BEY CICI KERI CB aka GROW UP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! January 6, 2011

@Gucci, first of all, I don’t jump on every Rihanna post and talk about her.

    LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *SIDEEYE*

  235. iLoveXtina January 6, 2011

    @Drew

Elastic Love was one of the best songs on the album, but i don’t think it would’ve been a smash here in the U.S. I would’ve released it as a promotional single though. Monday Morning was great too.

    @RatedXxX(aka rated X)

“wasnt it xtina who tried to jacked gagas look in the not my self tonight video”

actually she has said time & time again that that video was an homage to Madonna. If you see similarities then maybe Xtina isn’t the one doing the copying

  236. ben January 7, 2011

well reading this was a waste of my life

christinas bionic album is not a flop its sold over 600 000 copies globally in only 6 months and entered top 10 of almost every chart it entered and has gone gold in 3 countries getting any sort of certification in any country is a major achievement for any artist its had 2 hits on the billboard hot 100 (not myself tonight – 23, woo hoo – 79) and the album itself charted on billboards top selling 200 albums of the year it may not of done as well as her past success but it doesn’t mean that its a flop just means she’s not on top and btw just because someones not in the top ten it doe not mean there career is over you moron and i doubt christina is the type to change the way she does things because twats like you think she should and also you said monica has had a successful comeback shes only sold 500 000 copies and was released 3 months before hand so if you think christina flopped then so did she

and as for burlesque that 49 million dollars its made has been used in less then 2 and a half months and has only just finished being released globally so will still be in cinemas for quite a while so in actual fact its going to reach past that 55 million mark seeing as it only has to increase by 6 million to make a profit and then theres dvd sales and other merchandise such as the soundtrack (which has already sold 370 000 world wide) so major profit will still be made and actually in comparison to most singers debut films its done massively successful for example mariah careys film glitter only managed to make just over 4 mill to this date which was less the a quarter of its 20 mill budget and to use a better example justin timberlake whos recent film has currently made 193 mill worldwide on a 50 mill budget a hugely successful film undoubtedly yet his second real movie flopped horribly in the cinema it was called edison and to date made just over 4 million with a 25 million budget his acting career is not exactly whats expected of a star of his calliber yet now he really has made it big with his current stuff so to do as well as christina has so far in ones debut movie is pretty fantastic

and as for the golden raspberry nominations twilight: eclipse and s** and the city 2 have also been nominated so really not that big a deal and also in case you didn’t realise its also been nominated for 3 golden globes

now you see people like you make me sick you just like to attack random people behind a fake name its ridiculous and your not doing it because its interesting or because your worried about christina it’s because you get some sick twisted pleasure in holding random pointless grudges iat people you never met

    that was at trent btw

    this is to everyone:
you can say what you want but the facts speak for themselves and btw she can’t be doing that badly seeing as she has made songs with david guetta and ti that are do to come out this year and there has been no questioning on rca and your right she has had a tough year but she won’t back down and just take it you can just bet after shes done with burlesque and family stuff you can just bet that she’ll make sure no one ever forgets who she is britney did the same everyone kept saying she was down and out and then all of a sudden there was a boom in her career people are just silly not everything a person does is going to do amazingly well and do the best but it definitely doesn’t mean that there down and out kthanksbye

  237. sonydoes January 7, 2011

Yall can talk mad s*** about Max Martin, Shellback, or Dr Luke..but these dudes can get Xtina back on the radio…she needs to do it…

  238. SunDee January 7, 2011

^ & then she’ll get a new backlash for being so… typical pop.
Todays Hit: Tik Tok = California Gurls = Raise Your Glass = same tune & formula.

  239. Hmmm? January 7, 2011

I think she might come back who knows. One thing for sure though the last album was just BLAH and she was trying too hard. Christina is one of the most overrated singers if she was black she’d be just an average singer but because she’s pasty white she’s thought as the best. Don’t get me wrong I love her especially during the stripped era. But if you’re a b**** to everybody you meet just because you think you’re better than everybody. Why is it such a shock that she flopped? Everybody has atleast one flop in their career. Maybe this will humble her and get her back on track and also Mariah Fans are soooooooo late Madonna is number 1!!! Madge 350 Million > Mariah 200 million

  240. Nick January 7, 2011

I Think she will be fine she is so amazing and i dont know why people assume she is a b****? have those people met her personally. i think its the media that tries to bring an artist down and watch and see if they can come back? just like that movie country strong!

  241. Keesha January 7, 2011

@Grow Up Please!!! Check her posts then, since you’re giving me such a “side eye”.

  242. Lemon January 7, 2011

    Agree with RihannaForever!
As much as I love xtina she soo big headed!

Also all of her interviews seemed to be about being a mother and how empowrring that was – once fine! but in every interview gets boring!

  243. Jackie January 8, 2011

Hi all, happy new year 🙂

IMO, Christina will be fine. Ups & downs are the part of life, business included.

I just think this: people tend to hate her without no reasons.
Some said her personality. But I’ve known some artists worse behaved than her but still are not criticized. She’s really an underrated artist, I wish all the best for her.

Back to Basics is her best album to date. She probably wouldn’t have listed on RS Greatest Singers Singer that high if she didn’t release this masterpiece album back in the day.

Back to Basics has contributed a lot to her image post-Dirrty era and I think she shouldn’t gone back via Bionic. While Stripped has changed her image from a popstar to an artist.

Now what? She comes back to the studio and making music? Good.

@ Prince: Agreed. Me, myself also see Christina as the white Whitney Houston. No comparisons between them of course. Whitney is already a legend. But I said so because Christina has the quality of Whitney’s voice, specially the power. Besides, they are both great singers in R&B/Soul genre. I love them both.

  244. Jackie January 8, 2011

^sorry I meant: People tend to hate her with no reasons

She was part of a phase and that phase is over now. She’ll come back when Backstreet boyz, 98degrees, and Britney Spears make a come back (thats never) and to compare her to Mariah Carey is ridiculous. MC Had hella hits and yea she made one bad movie, and got divorced but all of this happened over a 20 year span. Christina did it all in what like 7 years and she was incognito half that time. So my advice is for XTina to just disappear. Atleast then her alimony payments will go down LOL oh and to her hubby **NEVER TURN A H** INTO A HOUSEWIFE** When will these men learn SMH

^ GoodGirl Britney vs H** Xtina.
Whose the better Wife & Mother or Housewife?!
    *just sayin*
    I love Britney FYI

You have said what I had in mind… I thought the same. Thanks for telling people the truth.

She should also be very prolific, releasing a collection (Album amount) of music every six months so that someday, when people gain use of their senses, will realize how powerful her body of work is.

Wow that’s great idea! Couldn’t agree more. Thank you so much for giving alternative idea, and I think it’s brilliant. I am a die hard fan of black music and enjoying Christina’s music (esp. in Soul, R&B) since Whitney was no longer active.

“Burlesque” has made 56 million dollars worldwide, it made it’s budget back. It’s still making money, and has yet to open in several countries. So it’s far from a flop, maybe not successful in the U.S., but it’s making money.

I was right, Brtiney is smashing everything…Xtina needs to call Dr Luke/Max Martin up…heck, even Avril is smashing…they will get Xtina on the radio yall

  251. beto January 13, 2011

well Bionic is 2010 2nd most illegally downloaded album of the year. and has over 2 million in sales. so it is not a flop. if she releases 3 more singles and videos it will pick up major sales still. 😉

She needs to work on a new album but in the meantime still use Bionic as it is wicked. Release WooHoo with a thumpin videowith Nikki and I hate boys at a similar stage for two summer tracks. Castle walls should be out around the same time. She needs to just get out there in every area. After that in Autumn release lift me up and then move to the new album. Burlesque is still in the box office worldwide hitting Asia now and has made it passed its budget by $10million and counting. some idiots really love to try and kick someone when they are down

  253. ayo_ronnie January 21, 2011

Christina doesnt need to call Dr. Luke. The rason being the first thing people will say is she copying pink and britney, just how the claimed she was copying GaGa when clearly everyone was doing electro dance pop.

I loved Bionic the reason it didn’t stay on the charts is Christina and her own choice…. She only promoted it for one week in the USA and thats about it….. she didn’t go and promote it overseas…..also having problems with her Marriage Obviously she has always said before… her personal life is first and will always be…also she was rapped up with 18 hours a day doing Burlesque Not to mention finishing the Burlesque album call that a Stretch….And as for Burlesque it as Passed the 75 million mark with countries still not released as of Yet… So the Film was not a Failure it has way pasted the budget….As for Castle walls it is now on the radio as of Tuesday. And no its not the end of her Career why would they want her to Sing the national Anthem at the Super Bowl….As for Attitude hey no ones perfect hey if people keep on asking me the same questions over and other again I would have been like….um anything new to say to me…. seriously…. and finally the newbies well what are they going to do when people realized that or get out of the Auto tune dance stuff…. probably run for cover because in the end they can’t sing if their lives depended on it…so in conclusion Christina Aguilera’s Career is far from over she is an amazing singer/singwriter. ….P.S is it just me or ever artist this year and last year are trying to pull in a big gay Audience by singing songs like Firework or F’n Perfect or cough Born this way….they are all knock offs of Beautiful not saying Xtina was the first to do it but it seems all of them in a roll are doing it.
