Jamie Foxx Performs On Leno

Published: Thursday 6th Jan 2011 by Sam

Jamie Foxx continued along the promotional trail for his latest LP ‘Best Night of My Life’, paying a visit to The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.

Check out the crooner’s medley performance of ‘Fall For Your Type’ and ‘Yup, That’s Me’ after the jump…

No.

Granted Jamie is undeniably talented, something about his material this go round has just not been the one. A point reflected not only in the quality of the above-performed songs (especially the dire ‘Yup, That’s Me), yet also’ in the performance of the project’s three singles (did you even know he released that many?).

Still, with ‘Best Night of My Life’ having debuted at #6 on the Billboard 200 with sales of  144,000 copies, Foxx clearly had enough initial interest in the project to garner contextually solid numbers. However, whether the LP will have any legs moving forward will be interesting to see. A peek at Hits Daily Double’s estimation of 33,000 for the album’s 2nd week leaves us nonethewiser. For, despite seeming like quite the drop, the album holds steady at #13 amidst an array of new and re-charting releases. We’ll be paying close attention to how this one unfolds…

Anyway, enough of my rambling…

Love the song “Fall for Your Type” but I really don’t see any artistry in him. Especially after I been vibing to the original Drake song for MONTHS and then hear Jamie recording and singing it and it doesn’t even sound much better than the demo. He’s obviously a better singer than Drake but he needs to add a stronger twist to the song or next time make sure we haven’t heard the song months before he decides to release his version.

And no shade but I can’t help that I find it mildly embarassing to hear/see a grown ass man of his age singing “Yup, That’s Me”. #ThatIsAll #JustSaying

Yep, agree with Sam. The material sucks this go around. Some of the lyrics just dont jive with the melodies and arrangement. His last album was waaay better. His vocals are off too. Dude should stick to acting. Even then, his recent flicks have not got good reviews. Sounds like the guy has jumped the shark already. 77% drop 2nd week is bad even more than the usual 40-60% range for urban artists. NEXT.

His new album SUCKS major ASS! I love Jamie, but his new material sounds like pure B******* (except “Gorgeous”, LOVE that song!) His last two albums were the bomb.com! Get back to your creative and smooth R&B, Jamie!
