amazing! she’s way better live than she used 2 b!

  6. Royalkev January 10, 2011

Nicki did do her thing. This is the best song I’ve heard from her . I hope she continues to improve and have success with Pink Friday. These veteran female rappers in the game need to wish her well too and give a damn about their own legacies or atleast their self respect and dignity!

  7. ~BeySoBreezy~ January 10, 2011

HipPOP indeed….I just cant get off into this song….

she sounded and looked great, the dancers and back-up singers was a plus.
and i can see artist like nicki setting a new goal post for those who came before her. she is doing a great job of mixing and mingling with some of the best in the industry and shes well on her way on her career journey.

  12. yeahUknow January 10, 2011

shes getting better, im liking nickis music more, im here for here live rap in the performance but i still dont really like her singing but shes is improving and its good to see that. this was really good 🙂

  13. FUTURESTARdelux January 10, 2011

This is the only song i liked on her excuse for an album and all the s*** she started with Kim aside she has POTENTIAL to be really good but if you actually care about the message/lyrics/delivery of rap like i do at the moment she is just whack.
Her songs barely make any sense and even this one which kinda does has to have random s*** about vampires etc thrown in for no reason.
As for the image those wigs are getting stale, by next year people will be tired of her unless she gets some more depth in her music/personality and why does it look like she has Lady Gaga from “The Fame” era dancing to her left? i can’t…

  14. ~aMaZiNG.Lee~ January 10, 2011

Hip-POP is exactly what she is. Been saying that for months.

But this is the best song on the album. She has a few other hot songs (Blazin’, Fly, Superbass, Did it on ’em), but overall the album was a bit lackluster, IMO.

    Ok, performance, though. She’s improved.

  15. Leo (MusicXclusives) January 10, 2011

I can’t wait for the music video to premiere. This is one of my favorites off the album.

  16. TIMMI January 10, 2011

WOW she is improving so much.

    That performance was pure fire.

  17. james January 10, 2011

    @FUTURESTARDELUX
all nicki songs make sense just most of her songs are not common sense songs u actually have to think about it like u said the vampire thing is random but it’s not at all and makes sense
if she says she king which means she on top
then she say she killing golitah with a sling ie, she david’
then spinkle holy water upon the vampire i know alot of people may not know this but one of the other things that u kill vampies with is holy water so she saying she killing the game ‘.all of it makes sense it all goes together they are just all saying she killing
and i think nicki has message/lyrics/delivery in most her songs her messages in her songs are much better than most people/rappers out right now
and people wear the same hairstyle there whole career so nicki can wear her wig as long as she wants but nicki did tell us on the phone she may start wearing her real hair soon

and random i dont see how anyone can say something like did it on em is 1 of the hot songs on the album thats the worst song on the album the rest are nice that to me is her worst rap song ever i mean cmon lyricially that song has lines like ” you aint my son u my motuha effin step son” that alone makes me stop listening to it right then and there

but anyway good performance nicki i love this song and cant wait for the video i love how she can sing better live than most pop stars out now it thrills me LOL

  18. Prince January 10, 2011

Yesss Nicki! This song and performance is GREATNESS!

  19. KENUDIGME January 10, 2011

    GO NICKI!!

  20. Chulo January 10, 2011

    really?

  21. antertain January 10, 2011

    GREAT improvement.
Her vocals sound more confident and she looked more loose and free rather than some of the stiffer performances.

Good Job & I Love The Song.
    Growth and improvement.

Call it what you want but she’s made a lane with this Hip-Pop genre so good on her for standing out.

  22. ~aMaZiNG.Lee~ January 10, 2011

    @James

Nice attempt on trying to explain her lyrical content, but the main problem I have with her lyrics is that she doesn’t really tell stories, unlike her mother Bee. Don’t mean to bring her up, but real HIP-HOP, to me, is storytelling and Nicki lacks in that department. She may have one or two songs that accomplish that, but overall it’s just metaphors and punchlines (like Wayne has become over the past two to three years, which is why I’m disappointed with him). And although her style of rap isn’t telling a story on Did It On ’em, it’s rather humorous and way better than Check it Out, Right Thru Me, Your Love, Save Me, and other wack-filled records on the album.

  23. Napaul January 10, 2011

Like watching paint dry! BORING!!! Try again! I miss old Nikki because this new one is lame ass hell!

  24. Topman January 10, 2011

She did soooo good, clearly gaining confidence and it shows!

  25. FUTURESTARdelux January 10, 2011

@James i agree with @Amazing-Lee although she TECHNICALLY makes sense i meant that it is just random s***, can you seriously imagine a 30 year old traight man walking down the street to “it’s just me, mr miyagi and the phantom of the opere”? no…

Like i said she has potential but at the moment she’s just a gimic like Gaga, you can talk about sales when your releasing an album every year but the true test is can you take 3 years off and come back successfully of will you be forgotten?
If Nicki took 3 years off it’d be game over, i seriously havn’t played a nicki song in months.

  26. Meow January 10, 2011

Well that was a let down
i was hoping to see Nicki Minaj perform ON Ellen
    Bah Lol

  27. WonderLand19 January 10, 2011

Her best performance of this song, Well done. iam liking the dancers also with the wigs. Super Cool!
Upper her game all the time, thats what i like to see from an artist!
    Woop woop!

  28. spunkypoop January 10, 2011

  31. Che’s_Beret January 10, 2011

Decent performance…this song is the only one from her LP that grew on me.

  32. GangsterA January 10, 2011

she slayed shes getting better and better and her promo yes hun keep slaying and i see the same pepole saying the same pepole saying the same old s*** her songs does make sense ”i wish today will rain all day may be that kinda make the pain go away” <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< now this is what i call a great rap song it dosent matter if the beat/vocals is pop/r&b her songs is great

  33. RONALDMATTERS.COM January 10, 2011

THANK GOD she finally hired some dancers!!

  34. james January 10, 2011

    @~AMAZING.LEE~
o well i believe there is no such think as REAL hip hop i believe there is different forms of it and eveything evoles but yea personally when i listen to kim i dont hear storytelling like u just said i hear her talking about herself just as nicki does they just do it in different ways i think nicki is more story -telling / personal then kim but to each its own ……. but a real a example of storytelling is j cole’s fridaynightlighs mixtape not kim too me and to me nicki CD did not have many metaphor punchline songs only songs that do that to me is romans revenge and did it on em and how does right thru me/here i am /im the best (i mean last chance even sorta tells a story ) not tell a story just wondering i think nicki is just not telling the story’s u want to hear but some of her songs are telling story and did it on em is just :/ like lyrics suck so i skip it most time i listen to the CD i guess its a little funny tho

but yea @FUTURESTARDELUX ive heard like all of nicki songs/verses probabaaly 210+ and most all if them all make sense u just have to think about it sometimes she just says stuff in a different way than alot of other rappers ……….and so u think anybody who wears crazy stuff is a gimmick thats really stupid because that has nothing to do with talent … if u r trying to tell me Lady gaga cant sing thats crazy cause she sounds better live half the singers that have got famous not to mention the pop stars out now and nicki truthfully even sounds better live singing that rihanna and katy and especially kesha …i just dont get how they are gimmicks if they are talented……………..people buy their music not because of what they look like and what they see but because they like what they hear i would see if they got youtube videos views but couldnt sell a cd but thats not the case

and wow at u calling other artist gimmicks when i guessing u fav is britney who is lip sych her way though her career and if u havent listened to a nicki song in months how have u heard M4L and why would nicki want to take three years off? but i think if she did and came back she would still have fans really ready to hear her new music i know i would be one ..nicki has a pretty devoted fanbase

  35. ~aMaZiNG.Lee~ January 10, 2011

    @James

You may not believe that there is no such thing a REAL hip-hop, but I do; and what Nicki does IMO isn’t Hip-HOP but Hip-POP! And that’s not because she sings, because Lauryn sings as well, but Lauryn is REAL HIP-HOP.

And I’m not saying that Kim did storytelling on every one of her songs, however, her core rapping style and lyrical content was that of storytelling. Yes, Nicki may be more personal and inspirational than Kim but when Nicki raps about love, inspiration, and/or personal issues, she doesn’t deliver as good as she does with other themed-songs. Don’t put words in my mouth, I NEVER said Nicki doesn’t have storytelling oriented songs, I just said she lacks in that department and she may have a few in her catalog. Read my comment again.

And I wasn’t just referring to Nicki’s album regarding metaphors and punchlines, but OVERALL that’s the basis of her rapping style (including her verses on other people’s records over the past year and a half). And there are also songs on the album that possess that.

But I agree, J.Cole’s mixtape is the perfect example of storytelling! I think that’s why he has an upper hand on Drake, IMO.

  36. Basic Instinct January 10, 2011

wow.. what ever happened to talent and originality.. everytime i see this chick i wna rip lil kims wig of her head… and tell her GET YOUR OWN SWAG B****!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  37. Jazz January 10, 2011

loved it and I like that @ Amaing, Hip Pop

  38. Tami January 10, 2011

It’s about time she stepped it up!Improving good job Nicki (:

  39. True Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Blue January 10, 2011

It’s an alright song… and an alright performance.

BTW, does anyone else think that her backup dancers are reminiscent of a certain pop star who wears crazy outfits and is averse to pants?

  40. wtf January 10, 2011

Now all Nicki have to do now is go overseas start with the UK ASAP.

  41. KaVion January 10, 2011

    @ AMAZING LEE
Nicki does tell stories..actually moment 4 life is a story of two kids growing up and fulfilling their dreams if you know the history of the song..Nicki also tells real stories on songs like [autobiography, dear old nicki, can anybody hear me,fly, save me,hood STORY(lol),n***** & some others..i dont understand what you mean by kim telling stories though? on kims own songs, there are VERY few songs where she talking about emotional things and being sincere and real..but then you say nicki isn’t real hip hop?
I dont think there’s a such thing as “Real” hip hop either..i think its TRADITIONAL hip hop, which yes nickis not..
But nicki CAN be very lyrical and have depth..especially compared to other female rappers.
I think nicki is GREAT & this is coming from someone who only listens to lyrical hip hop and mostly UNDERGROUND..
People are WAY to hard on her..

  42. KaVion January 10, 2011

    @ AMAZING LEE
.. i do agree with you about j cole though haha.
Are you a fan? Im a damn j cole STAN lmao

  43. KaVion January 10, 2011

    @ TRUE BLUE
Honestly if you have a problem with nicki..just dont come to her posts
I notice you tell alot of people to stop throwin shade at artists on their posts so you should practice what you preach. I actually usually agree with you on MOST topics..but seriously your shade towards nicki needs to stop, this is from one BEY stan to another haha

  44. UGh January 11, 2011

Hip-Pop star is right but i love me some Nicki. I liked the performance. she’s getting better and she looks gorgeous

  45. True Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Blue January 11, 2011

    @ Drew:

I didn’t shade Nicki. Since when is saying something is “alright” shading? I don’t even come to her posts often. I just watched this performance to see if my opinion of Nicki would be elevated, and so far no difference.

Also, I mostly tell Sam & Trent to watch it with their shades because they’ll complain about an artist having no talent and being generic and then they’ll lavish praise on someone else who is no better. As far as commenters go, people are entitled to go whichever posts and have whatever opinion they feel like. This isn’t a fansite, so I don’t believe in people restricting their opinions to ONLY about their faves.

And I don’t really stan for anyone. I have faves, but I don’t stan.

  46. True Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Blue January 11, 2011

But I’ll mostly call out people for blatant trolling and being factually incorrect about things.

  47. O.m.G January 11, 2011

I ACUALLY LIKE THIS SONG BUT BOI I WOULD NEVER PAY TO SEE HER LIVE ….SHES JUST BORING ALTHOUGH HER DANCERS WERE KILLING IT .

  48. MUSIC LOVER January 11, 2011

The dancers were random as f*** in their Nicki wigs. And WTF was she doing in a cocktail dress? She is looking skinnier and skinnier these days!

I like her performance. She needs to release the video already.

  49. MISHKA January 11, 2011

    This gott

  50. MISHKA January 11, 2011

This gotta be the first song of Nicki THAT I actally like !

    Nice job, Onika.

  51. Lolita January 11, 2011

Nicki is improving good for her. I wouldn’t call Nicki Hip-Pop either. She just likes to switch it up sometimes.

  52. Get real January 11, 2011

@Amazing. Lee Funny someone with a michael jackson picture near their names clowning something for having pop influence. Pop music always changes. Always. Yes Michael jackson was considered a pop artist at one time. It’s basically another way of saying Popular music. Who doesn’t want to be popular?

And why would Nicki take 3 years off of her career? Do you take 3 years off of your job? You can’t be serious.

Also telling stories was never kims strong point. Neither was it a lot of rappers. DMX’s strong point wasn’t telling stories either. Tupac didn’t tell stories in all of his songs. Telling stories is not the only way you determine a song hip hop. If all rappers rapped the same, that would be a boring world. Just like if all Poets wrote the same type of poetry. So why must all rap musicians deliver their art the same way? That was so ridicuolous to say and it proves you don’t know as much about hip hop as you claim to say.

  53. missme January 11, 2011

Her Versatility will give her longevity in her career.

  54. Andrew January 11, 2011

    Amazing performance!
    It’s barbie b****

  55. Marcus January 12, 2011

GREAT performance from the Empress of Hip-Hop 🙂

  56. KaVion January 12, 2011

    @TRUE BLUE
