Britney Spears’ long-awaited ‘Hold It Against Me’ video is premiering at this very instant! The visual for the record-setting single was directed by Jonas Akerlund. Check out the full video below:
As expected, this video an array tricks – camera angles, a gang of dancers, flashing lights and bright colours – in an attempt disguise the fact that Spears is nothing more than a shadow of the performer she was in her youth. However, the production gimmicks actually worked against her as she was the only flaw in the entire clip.
The days of Spears’ high-energy performances and electrifying stage shows have long gone. In an era where other entertainers (Beyonce, Lady GaGa, Ciara etc) have raised the bar with their brilliant showings, Spears’ lackluster antics are far from impressive.
O well at least we’ll always have YouTube to help us remember the good old days. She’s not stronger than yesterday.

Seemed like a long, great looking but boring commercial. I didn’t understand the random fighting and I liked the paint spray better when Willow did it in her video.

Yeah, I thought the dancing would be better, and that really would have made the video, epic. There’s really only one pop star that can pull off the whole, strut thing well, and that’s Rihanna.
Visually, this video was good, and it would’ve been better had she worked it out with the choreo.
That’s all it needed to be really great, Britney really breaking it down, especially during the bridge part.

Of the Big 3 releasing this year (Britney, Gaga, Beyonce), Britney was easily the one I was most excited about. And HIAM is still an amazing song…
But the way they hyped this video should be criminal. She just didn’t deliver.
The dancing was incredibly stiff, and that’s when she even bothered following the dancers, half the time she’s freestyling. Not to mention the video was PHYSICALLY painful to watch because the camera wouldn’t stay on her for 2 seconds before switching to another angle. All the camera switching literally made my eyes hurt.
I liked the fight scene, but the dancing…it was worse than the Circus era. MUCH worse.

I was really disappointed. After those 14 thousand trailors I was prepared to be slayed! She could never sing, but she used to deliver some bomb ass video’s and performances that kept people entertained. This s*** right here looked so low budget and cheesy it was ridiculous! It’s hard to believe an artist as big as Britney on a label as big as JIVE could release such low budget material.

The thing that saddens me is, Britney’s dancing isn’t bad because she’s old. Hell, she isn’t even 30 yet! Her body, physically, is FAR from peaking.
It’s a clear lack of passion that’s the problem, and it saddens me.
As a dancer myself, I can tell just from how she’s moving that she’s going into the dance studio, staying JUST LONG ENOUGH to pick up the basic choreo, and then peacing out. She looks like she’s avoiding most of the choreo because she doesn’t know it as well as the dancers do.
If she would put in the work to really LEARN the choreo, like she used to, there’d be no reason she couldn’t rock it out.
It makes me sad because I remember MTV behind the scenes footage from earlier in her choreo, would she would be in the dance studio just TEARING UP some choreo. Background dancers would be taking water breaks and she’d STILL be in that mirror serving up 8-counts like her life depended on it.

The white dress is definitely keeping with the other promo shots we’ve seen of Femme Fatale era. I think the point of the exploding paint scene was to match the florescent colored font of the “hold it against me” title holder we’ve been seeing for the past two weeks. I also think that it symbolizes how Femme Fatale era is going to explode onto the scene with color and vibrance and just really add to her catalogue (like what Willow was doing), but all of the album promo shots thus far have been of Britney in white

To think of it, Brian said that the HIAM video would be on the same level as Toxic and S**** in terms of being epic, would have hard dance routines and Britney would be dancing in every scene.

Christian Owens, Danielle Polanco, Peanut, Flex, Anhony Burell, JR, and a few other choreographers/dancers were called in. Frank wanted to give each choreographer a chance to see who B vibes with the most.
Everyone had a chance to teach B 2 8 counts each.
She played them a few songs from the album
For one song, she wanted lots of footwork and some African dancing. The first single is supposed to be “crazy”. Everything was uptempo they heard. She told them she “just wants to dance” this era.
That’s all the information I got. No word on when the music is coming out.

I still have faith in her music. It’s just sad that the spark in Britney seems to have died.
And I don’t think anybody is forcing Britney to do this. I genuinely believe that she’s still in music because she wants to be. It’s all she knows. But she doesn’t have the passion for it that she once does, and it’s showing in a way that is a let down for a lot of her fans.
I understand that she has a family and everything, but lots of pop stars have children and go on to have successful pop and energetic pop-careers.

Sorry for my absence…I just had a reading to complete. Anyways, I agree that Blackout and Rated R are CRIMINALLY underrated. I think Britney’s best album to date is either In the Zone or Blackout, but I have a feeling that Femme Fatale may take that title. As for Rihanna, I feel that her albums get better each time, and Loud is my favorite by her for its diversity.

You met Beyonce?!?!?!?! WOW. I’ve met Rihanna twice. Once backstage at her LGOE Tour, and once at her NYC book signing. She was in a rush backstage since TONS of people got backstage passes, so I basically got to give her a hug, say hi, take a picture, get an autograph, and that was it. At the book signing, I got to hug her (again), say hi, take a picture, get my book signed, and talk to her for like 2-3 minutes. She was a little mean backstage at the show, but I think she was tired and not in a great mood. She was SO sweet at the book signing though.
I hate it when people act like Rihanna and Beyonce don’t care about their fans just because they don’t constantly say “I love my fans to death” like people like Gaga do. Rihanna and Beyonce ADORE their fans.

I was THIS close to going to the I Am Yours concert her in Vegas, saved up and everything. Then I had to leave town that same weekend for a family reunion, didn’t even bother buying the tickets. I wish I would of gone. Ironically, the I Am Yours concert is my favorite project Beyonce’s ever done. It’s so beautiful and classic. She didn’t look as attractive to me at that concert though. Lol

That sucks! I’ve been to 3 concerts – Gaga’s Monster Ball, Beyonce’s I Am… Tour, and Rihanna’s LGOE. All were great in different ways, though, so I can never compare them. I’ve also met Rihanna twice. I really am DYING to go see Bruno Mars and Janelle Monae in May, but I may sacrifice that to see the Loud Tour. I’m SOOO happy, though. The Loud Tour doesn’t come to my area until late June, and I WAS going to move to Korea in early June, but I’ll now move to Korea 4 days after the concert so I can go to the show, now.

I know for a fact she’d do an album FULL of ballads & midtempos. I mean she chose to do the I Am Yours.. concert which was mainly ballads & acoustic sets. She loves making classic music, unfortunately she’s so well known for dance anthems that people want mainly that. I’d love fir her to do an album with 90% midtempos & ballads. With mainly a soul sound, but some hip hop with lyricists featured, some funk and some soft pop. With about 3/4 dance tracks. I’d want collabs from John Legend, Alicia Keys, Janelle Monae, J Cole, Em a love song with Jay & a power ballad with J Hud. Lol. That’s my dream Beyonce record.

I could see that happening…but I think what I want/hope for is that Rihanna will progress but do something similar to GGGB. She said she wants to avoid regression, so I think that she’ll continue to evolve. One thing Rihanna should be commended for is that she progresses with each record. Same with Beyonce. I like Bruno, but he’s not as great as Janelle. I just NEED to see Janelle live. Maybe I can finance both, LOL.
Also, my DREAM Rihanna record is Loud+Rated R+GGGB. I’d want an album with tons of dance uptempos like “Only Girl” and “Who’s That Chick?”, with a few ska uptempos and midtempos like “What’s My Name?”, and then I’d love two forms of ballads – some ballads like “California King Bed” and “Complicated” (power ballads), and then some songs like “Skin”, which are really edgy. I’d also want her to go COMPLETELY reggae and pull a Bob Marley on a couple tracks.
My DREAM Beyonce record is a 50/50 midtempo-ballad/uptempo. I’d want half of the songs to either be power ballads like “Halo”, slower ballads like “Save the Hero” and “Disappear”, and then some midtempos like “Ego” but midtempos with less instruments, just to see how it would turn out. For uptempos, I’d want songs like “Deja vu” with insane instrument usage, and then a few “Sweet Dreams” which rely on synth.

The dancing was sooo slow, the fight scene was the best scene of the video so far, the editing and directing of the video is of really good quality. This a great video… her best for ages in my opinion. Britney will be HUGE this year the Femme Fatale era will be her biggest for years. I knew TGJ would hate it, they always expect too much. Some of Beyonce’s and GaGa’s videos haven’t exactly blown me out the water but I still love those artists and will continue to support them. That Music video was lame. and I’m not a hater!!! I don’t hate Britney at all, but it’s just that…. I feel bad for her, really. Where are epic music videos like Toxic… S**** 4 U…? I agree with Gagaislove she doesnt want to do this anymore, she hasnt looked comfortable doing this since she had that breakdown, I know shes still very successful but I think she needs to call it a day now or comeback when shes more confident, I can tell from her performances and music that she just wants to live a quiet life now with her kids. I think its the management that is forcing her to do all this she makes all the people around her loads of money and if she stops they will stop getting anything, there is something very strange about her setup, up to now she still hasnt got control over her life or money her family and management should not have control over all this she is a big woman now who is almost 30 yrs old. When she had that breakdown it looked like she was trying to just be herself and be free from all the people that control everything she did. I hope this young woman can soon do WHAT SHE WANTS TO DO and not have people telling what to do all the time. I wish her the best.

My input is the song is ok-ish cud of been better had the video actually bin worth waiting for; 99 teasers and then some for THIS frankly i’m disappointed. Wow, some people are really harsh. I am usually a tough critic, but I’m surprised I thought more of this video than the majority. It’s far from awful, though I do see why people are complaining. I think the teasers made people’s expectations raise to the roof. I don’t think anything about the video is epic, but it was solid. The look of it was nice and glossy and the fighting was awesome. You can’t deny that – it was different. The dancing isn’t what it use to be, that was disappointing. You really can’t say that Britney slayed anyone with that. I didn’t care for the song, but this video still scores a B! There was a lot to be entertained by.

I love her, and the video was very good. She wasn’t killing the choreography….but it’s still 100000000X better than anything Rihanna, Ke$ha or Katy Perry could do. It’s not prime Britney, but it’s good. And yes, DAMN you Kevin Federline and DAMN YOU party scene….she was next in line to be the Queen. I hope Beyonce doesn’t disappoint.
