Fox News (we know) recently aired a special entitled ‘My American Story’. Guests featured on the segment included Mathew Knowles.
The controversial Destiny’s Child manager (and Beyonce’s father), shared his story on guiding his family to the level of stardom they enjoy today. An interesting watch. {Spotted over at SC}

He called Kelly his child probably from the time she was 11, he raised her. So in that sense, he is like a father to her. Remember, Kelly is OLDER than Bey and since Tina and him got married a couple years before they had Bey, that would mean that he cheated on her BEFORE Bey was ever thought of being conceived. Ummm, no. Stop believing rumors everyone. Anyways, say what you want of him, I always respected him. How many black households do you see both father and mother taking active roles in raising their children and supporting them in what they want to do? That’s a lot of sacrifice. If more black families did this, the black community would be in much better shape than it is in right now.

I think most flack Beyonce gets is because of her father as he is disliked.
@ Beyonce: The Queen of Pop and Soul, I agree and commend him on supporting his daughters and having faith in them. Most black families would love to have a star in the family, but they don’t do enough to cultivate a budding talent they see in their children. Sometimes they don’t even have any awareness or recognize how gifted their child is until all the work is done and the struggle has finally got them somewhere. It’s especially great to see that Mathew earned his degree and still didn’t push his children away from the arts. The academic world usually never fully see things the way the artistic world does and they see it as a fantasy life. I can relate to all of this myself and I think it’s awful. So I applaud him for being a great father. This is the type of person that you’d want to become a parent ideally.
