I could sound like a hypocrite, but Kelly does seem to stand out more with dance music. I don’t think that’s the avenue for most artist that do Urban pop and R&B, but this gives her an identity. I still don’t like some of her singles (Commander, WLTO), but if she finds the right kind of dance music to record she might be popular in the states as well as overseas. As for this record, I’m not too impressed with it – but I think she’s in her lane!

I like it a lot. She definately channeled early Whitney; especially with the WOOOO’s. I’ll never understand why we are just now hearing what Kelly can do vocally (for real). Her voice is bananas. I literally just finished listening to Destiny’s Child’s The Writings on The Wall (throwback, I know). The little bit of record time that Kelly got on that album left me wanting more from HER. I’m glad I’m finally getting it, but it’s a shame it took this long. As a member of Destiny’s Child, Kelly was clearly trained, and mentally engineered to play second fiddle to Beyonce because even then she had the vocal chops to give homegirl a serious run for her money. I’m glad she’s finally over that crap. THIS is the Kelly that doesn’t hold back for NOBODY. No more playing second fiddle for this chick. Give her the spotlight and give her the spotlight NOW!!!
