Behind The Scenes: Shontelle’s ‘Say Hello To Goodbye’ Video

Published: Monday 16th May 2011 by Sam

It’s been a minute since we’ve heard anything from Pop songstress Shontelle. Indeed, following the release of her last single ‘Perfect Nightmare’ (and its subsequent poor performance), all seemed to grind to a halt for the Bajan beauty.

Yet, in what seems to be a case of ‘down, but not out’, the 25 year old is back with ‘Say Hello To Goodbye’ – the fourth single to be lifted from her sophomore set ‘No Gravity’.

Check out the singer-songwriter (who penned Rihanna‘s latest single ‘Man Down’) in action on the set of the song’s video below…

    Don’t know her

    She sang that song Impossible.

    Third single, not fourth.

I can’t believe I nearly stanned for this b**** last year. I still love her and her music, but she needs to find a new label and update her sound. She’s stuck in a 2002 sound and so are her label.

I LOVE THIS GIRL. I LOVE HER SKILLS AS A SONGWRITER AND SHE’S NOT A BAD SINGER AT ALL. HER ALBUM WAS PRETTY GOOD. I THINK SHE COULD BE VERY BIG AS LONG AS UNIVERSAL PUSHED THEIR ARTISTS MORE, IT SEEMS YOUNG MONEY ARTISTS ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT GET SUPPORT FROM THAT LABEL. SHE AND AUBREY O’DAY DESERVE TO BE VERY BIG BECAUSE THEY’RE BOTH VERY TALENTED, I LIKE SHONTELLE THOUGH BECAUSE SHE HAS A MIX AND IT’S NOT FORCED. I WANT MORE R&B FROM HER THOUGH AND HER BALLADS ARE REALLY NICE. “IMPOSSIBLE” WAS GREAT AS WELL AS THIS WHICH MAY BE MY FAVORITE TRACK FROM THE ‘NO GRAVITY’ ALBUM. I THINK THEY DIDN’T RELEASE THE ALBUM WHILE THE SINGLE WAS AT IT’S PEAK WHICH LED TO THE ALBUM TO FLOP AND IT WAS ALOT BETTER THAN SOME OF THE POP GARBAGE OUT THERE RIGHT NOW. IT WAS A VERY SOLID POP ALBUM AND I REALLY THOUGHT THAT “PERFECT NIGHTMARE” DESERVED TO BE A HIT, THE RODNEY “DARKCHILD” PRODUCTION WAS GREAT ESPECIALLY WITH BLENDING THE R&B AND DANCE. SHE COULD BE A HUGE POP STAR, HEY SHE DID TOUR WITH BEYONCE SO THAT SAYS SOMETHING. SHE OPENED HER SHOWS AND NOT JUST ANYONE GETS THAT HONOR. BY THE TGJ, THIS IS THE THIRD SINGLE FROM HER ALBUM, “LICKY (UNDER THE COVERS” IS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND ON THE ALBUM, “IMPOSSIBLE” IS THE LEAD SINGLE, FOLLOWED BY “PERFECT NIGHTMARE” AND NOW “SAY HELLO TO GOODBYE”.

THE SONG IS VERY POP/BALLAD GUITAR DRIVEN WITH SAD THEMES AND VOCALS. IT ALL WORKS VERY WELL TOGETHER. I THINK IT’S A GOOD SONG, IT COULD BE SUCCESSFUL. IT SEEMS JUST RIGHT.

Ahh she got another top 10 on her hands. Alright now Floptelle. Get it

  7. MyBackFoot May 16, 2011

wow! she’s been 25 for the past 10 years!….dry and boring, confused why her label keeps funding her flopping project?….

  8. boomkack May 16, 2011

she wrote a hit for billy goat gruff but can’t write any for herself. interesting……

I really love her and only wish her the best.

Anyway I think it’s funny that her talking voice sounds practically nothing like her singing voice

    @BoomKack! LMAO!

Dang, I had forgot all about this girl. She has a really pretty voice and apparently is a good song writer as well. Sadly I think she is another one of those girls who will never really see much success. She can actually sing and is a good writer, but since she is not light skined with green eyes she will go unnoticed. Sad.

She sounds better than Rhianna, real talk. Good she still makes her money by writing for others. Wish her well. She open for Beyonce for the I am Tour overseas.

I like Shontelle, I started to be interesting in her with her song ”Impossible” really good song.. I prefer her rnb style because I think it fits her better.. will see.. but she writes good lyrics and have a good voices.. I hope she could be more popular.. but I don’t know Rihanna is cutest than her, and when I look at Shontelle in the video she prepares.. she looks like RhiRhi.. but I believe in her and I think she will do great!

  14. MSBLACKROSE May 17, 2011

ITS AIGHT…SHE’S REALLY PRETTY THOUGH. SHE JUST NEEDS BETTER PRODUCTION

  15. sabrina May 17, 2011

its funny how people with talent like shontelle get no where…… all the best my girl, your time will come.

someone wrote “she wrote a hit for billy goat gruff but can’t write any for herself. interesting…” With songs and singles no one knows if it will be a hit or not . the masses (fans , Radio, sales) really determine that , it’s not like Shontelle could have saw into the future and saw that ‘man down’ would have been such a hit, and the Artist also plays a big factor as well , if Rihanna made the ‘No Gravity’ album would it had been a hit? or if Shontelle made ‘Loud’ would it had Flopped?.

    @ Brad Garrett

    Good point.

I respect Shontelle’s hustle. She may take a while to catch on but she is very talented. Great songwriting, decent vocals. She needs some work as a package but she can he helped.

  19. boomkack May 18, 2011

    @ Brad Garrett
For some reason people like rihanna so I think that yes if she recorded No Gravity it would’ve been a hit. Shontelle is rihanna’s understudy. When Riri leaves perhaps Shontelle can shine..unless Teairra Mari gets the spot first….
