Next year’s 54th annual Grammy Awards is already in production. The Recording Academy and Grammy broadcasting network, CBS, extended their contract through 2021 on Tuesday (June 21). So, what’s the date of music’s biggest night?

Next year’s Grammy Awards ceremony will once again take place Feb. 12, at The Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. The contract with CBS includes the “Grammy Nominations Concert Live!! – Countdown To Music’s Biggest Night,” happening this Fall on Nov. 30. Also, a new series of two-hour Grammy-related specials are part of the deal; with details to be announced at a later date.
With recent big releases from Grammy darlings Adele, Lady GaGa, and Beyonce spawning critical and commercial success, and qualified 2010 projects from Kanye West, Rihanna, etc. it’ll be interesting to see how the 2012 Grammy nominations play out. What do you predict?

i think Adele should win, her album is very good. B’s album is ok, and even though it’s a diff style, it has nothing on Adele’s. I liked Gaga’s album, I often listen to it and it’s diff from the first one. Anyway, we’ll see. I think it all depends on the fans, unless that’s changed.

i was actually looking forward to asking u what u think of 4, am sure u’ve heard it but you will always be bias if the name beyonce is on it. if u are fan of real music as u claim, 4 is a standout album. noone woulda expected the vibe of those songs (i havent heard it yet but was told mostly ballads, midtempos with influences from yesteryears, rock music and some eclectic artistes) especially when she released an uptempo 1st single

It’s pretty amusing reading the comments about how B’s album is going to flop, when her pre-orders are already at Gold standard, probably will be Platinum before the release even comes to fruition. Not so much a flop. And maybe she won’t win many Grammy’s and maybe she will, time will tell. Personally, I believe it will all depend on whether the Grammy’s files her music under pop or R&B. She will win more Grammy’s under R&B than she would under pop with the likes of Adele as her competition. Personally, I don’t have anything for or against GaGa, but I don’t see her taking anything serious home with her – her music is for the fans, not really for the academy that makes the decisions.
I’m primarily rooting for Adele and Bey. I know Gaga will win a Grammy for EOG, though. But I need her to release a song I’m actually fond of for me to want her to win a Grammy. I hope Lupe and Kanye get some recognition as well.

I think that Wilco’s “The Whole Love” should get the album of the year! I felt that they should have won best rock album of the year for “Sky Blue Sky”, although the Foo Fighters album was the more mainstream choice. Wilco… Forever.
