She did ok, But nowhere near Adele.

  2. bey’knight June 18, 2011

i thoroughly enjoyed that, alex is a budding performer but vietnam though? what’s that about? *in madonna voice* 😀

  3. I see June 18, 2011

Not even near to adele’s version.

and her stage presence is horrible…

  4. JUDAS666 June 18, 2011

    @Bey’Knight

You’re retarded… the reason they or any artist would tour overseas in 2nd or 3rd world countries is they are willing to pay tons more than their UK or US promoter counterparts to get the same acts there. In Moscow, tickets for A-list acts can range from $300 (nosebleed seats) to over $3K for front row.

  5. Perfunctory June 18, 2011

Great performance. I think she’s severely underrated by a lot of people, I don’t know why people always try to down play her talent.

It would be amazing if she supported Beyoncé on her next tour.

Every year Hennessy artistry organises for Western acts to perform in Asia last year Mike Posner did it and this year it was Alex and David Cook. How can anyone sing it as well as Adele but Alex always performs and has great stage prescence. They sound good together.

    @ JUDAS666

i’ve seen your comments on tgj…..you dont get to call anyone retarded, well maybe perrylicious but thats really scraping the bottom of the barrel. if you dont understand sarcasm ….. put a cork in it

  8. bey’knight June 18, 2011

    @Scott

exactly, my whole point was that vietnam is a bit random and out of the blue. of course i know artistes put on exclusive performances here and there, @JUDAS666 is just bein a sour puss, eff him!

  9. Robier June 18, 2011

The lowered key sounds real odd

Adeles singing is overrated honestly. Whenever you get a white soul singer people always want to act like theyre some second coming or something well I have new for you, shes great but overrated! I will however say that Jessie J deserves the praise that she is getting.

  11. Tr June 18, 2011

Demi…true sentiment, however i’d switch those around. It’s Jessie J who is overated, and has a ‘manufactored’ soul act going on. ..kinda like X-tina. Adele is soulful, but it isn’t mimicking black soul, as you’d never confuse the two!

  12. sellar2 June 18, 2011

she is beautiful..i give her that..
….They already giving out 4G Cellphones..but ONLY if you live in United States..i got 2..sent 1 to my mom house & 1 to my dorm..lol http://goo.gl/LlL9g

only Adele can perfectly nail this song. kudos to her. all these other singers always strain and have a hard time singing this song while Adele is perfectly at ease, calm and composed. other artists trying to the song just makes u see how good Adele is.

  14. aisha June 18, 2011

    @ Bey’ Knight
now u see how it feels when someone out of the blue agresses u for no reason.

  15. Juliana June 18, 2011

For those who keep saying it’s no where near adele’s version is dumb! Obviously it’s not gonna be near adele, only adele can sing like adele. It’s called a cover for a reason people. It’s when artist put their own twist onto a song, and that’s exactly what Alex and David did and it was absolutely amazing. So stop comparing!

  16. YOUR Queen! June 18, 2011

While I do agree that Adele’s singing is extremely overrated, no one can sing her songs way she does and I wish they would just stop trying. However Alex didn’t do too bad, better than John Legend’s rendition which I hate with a burning passion, almost as much as the KKK hate black people.

  17. Beangelic1000 June 18, 2011

Adele is Adele ans since she wrote the song she wouldn’t have any differculty singing it. Nonetheless, both Alexandra and David are excellent singers and their take of the song was amazing and Alexandra has plenty of stage presence.

  18. aisha June 18, 2011

    @ TR
if u’d been following Christina since her beginnings, u would know that her label didn’t want her to do soul, she did it out of her own initiative. she is far from “manufactured soul”.

  19. Aaron June 18, 2011

But could Adele sing The Silence by Alexandra? Nope.

  20. Scott June 18, 2011

There must be a better quality video than this.David and Alex put this together last minute to close the show they did not have much rehersal time.It was a really good effort on there part.I think Adele is an excellent singer but I have no time for the white girls doing black singing styles and then getting more attention, praise and success off it.Alexandra, Leona, Jennifer Hudson, Angie Stone, Jill Scott, Jazmine Sullivan and Marsha Ambrosius do it bigger and better yet do not get the kudos they deserve.

  21. SWEXY June 18, 2011

Rihanna would make this her own

  22. S*** June 18, 2011

  27. Dave June 18, 2011

I agree she did ok. Nothing close to Adele’s though. But, Alexandra has a amazing voice, this just wasn’t it.

  29. Betty-Oops June 19, 2011

You know you fell when You have to cover other artist songs.

    Get a job Alex.

  30. Gaz June 19, 2011

LOL @ Betty…if Bey can cover other artists, alex is in good company…

Can we all just forget the Adele comparisons and focus on the performance…

Alex did great, well done her!

  31. JohnVidal June 19, 2011

    Horrible IMO

  32. Dragon June 19, 2011

Like mentioned above, Adull is the shining example of overrated.
Just like everyone were up Amy Winehouse’s ass a couple years back then Duffy, they’ve latched onto Adull as though she’s the best singer in the history of ever.
Talented woman yes but I personally find her voice grating.
And does anyone notice she never sings the high parts of “Someone Like You” live?
That said, this song is quite good and Alex did good hear. Much more bearable than the original if i’m honest, and infinitely better than that John Legend version. Ick.

  33. Scott June 20, 2011

Big fail stupid Betty – oops, David Cook picked the song and Alex joined him half way through his final set to close the show.

  34. LENNI June 21, 2011

Alexandra Burke did okay because she can sing whereas others are not as fortunate. I think Adele is really talented and I can understand people who think her music is dull. i personally like her music because I can appreciate her voice and I don’t need theatrics to be entertained by her. She’s classy, not cheesy or trashy, so she won’t sing or write songs about going out to party and drinking up till you pass out and stuff like that. If she has, then I haven’t noticed!
