There’s nothing out of the ordinary about releasing a special edition version of a notable album to commemorate its anniversary milestone, but this self-made documentary seems a little self-indulgent for me.

Love Alicia Keys! Even I’M shocked at all she’s achieved, esp given the kind of music she makes, which isn’t very popular nowadays. Congrats, A. Keys!
I’m really glad for her team, but I can tell you personally that this is also very very sad. Songs in A Minor was made off the backs or three very very important brothers that are all getting lost in the history of this monumental album.
Nowhere in the documentary is credit given to the Flowers Brothers. Vic, Reggie and G Flowers (look up the actual credits on the album) were Alicia’s band when all her recording budgets were spent, when she could barely afford to pay rent in an up-town NYC apartment, and when she consistently struggled to perform a song from start to finish without stopping or making an error. The Flowers Bros before Alicia had backed-up legendary Guru on his JazzMatazz Albums and tours, and had deals with MCA and Issac Hayes ‘Hot Buttered Soul’ production company. I remember seeing Kerry ‘Krucial’ Brothers back then… pushing a button on his MPC and calling that “producing’. The tiny apartment Alicia keeps referring to in the press and on the documentary preview is where she recorded almost all the tracks that got released on ‘Song in A Minor’ … and the ensemble sound, the instrumentation, the musicianal development… look at the album’s backing credits for proof.
Now this is one of this generations talented artist if not the most talented.making. Timeless musicand imo no one compares to her right now,too much talent flowing in this woman’s veins and blood .in 10 tears to come I will still be rocking songs in a minor

I love all of her songs, especially ‘Woman’s Worth’. She is so talented and beautiful. One of the very few artists that can actually sing live. Can’t wait till she releases a new album, though I think she’s busy with family at the moment.
Awww! This was really dope! I like it when artist do things like this and give us some insight to what’s going on or was going on behind the scenes. SOME people may think it’s self indulgent but for her die hard fans like myself, we appreaciate things like this! I don’t doubt that is also for promotion though. She prolly has a new single coming out & a new album so this could only help.
Hearing all her old songs from her first album really took me back! I have all of her albums, and with the exception of the last I really enjoyed them all but her first is still a classic! I remember her first single from ‘Songs in A Minor’ was ‘Girlfriend’! That was my S*** back in the day! People didn’t really catch on to her until ‘Fallen’ but I was already hooked after ‘Girlfriend’. I knew she was gonna blow up & I was right!
S/N: Her hair looks AMAZING! Love it! I almost want to go out & get me some extentions so I can rock it like that, but it’s too damn hot in VA for all that. Lol!
