The video for Nicola Roberts‘ debut solo single ‘Beat of My Drum’ premiered moments ago – two days ahead of its scheduled unveiling.
Produced by Diplo (Beyonce’s ‘Run The World’), the cut serves as the first release to be lifted from her ‘Cinderella’s Eyes’ LP (due this Summer).

To say the song’s title is ironic would be the biggest of understatement’s. For, Roberts’ executed the choreography with all the effort of a drunk pensioner. So stiff, I literally felt like splashing engine oil at the screen.
What’s more, though initially promising, the song itself is just not the business. This paired with her shockingly bad performance kinda reaffirms why some people just aren’t cut out to go solo. Something Roberts seems to agree with herself – if the deer in headlights look on her face throughout the vid is anything to go by.
Still, given the undoubtedly ‘left-field’ approach she’s taken compared to bandmate Cheryl Cole, I’m still eager to see what she’s serving up with te project. For her sake, it needs to be better material, with a slice of confidence, because this is not it.

This song is sooo adictive, I’m very happy that Nicola did something different to what Cheryl has to offer. It will debut it top ten for sure. The music video is fresh and it makes u come back to watch it over and over again. I can imagine Nadine Coyle’s face, I bet she is not happy at all watching her another bandmate releasing great stuff. Nadine debut single did embarrassingly wrong damaging all her solo career desires and dreams.

OOH! This video is HOT! I LOVE the visuals, I love the stimuli, I love how simple she kept it, I love her. I don’t know how it will go over in the UK, but I hope she releases that in the US, with the right promotional campaign, she could make that song into a top 10 hit. It easily glides past the competition.

Nicola is a good solo artist. She’s different and quirky. The song is irritatedly catchy. But the video was a mess she looks so uncomfortable and shy and the dancing made me cringe and all of these factors made it uncomfortable to watch. I still like the song though.

This is insanely catchy, found myself singing the L.O.V.E. part too many times! The song is very M.I.A. sounding, which is a great thing, but isn’t original. Yes Nicola is quirky, and I applaud her for going against the grain with this one, but the video doesn’t do the song justice.
I’m sure once the money comes in, the budget for the next video will produce a better quality video, wardrobe and makeup! I mean come on, only two outfit changes throughout the entire video????

Well done to Nicola for coming out with the best solo record from a Girls Aloud member since Fight For This Love, Nicola has grown into a stunning girl, she obviously wrote the track to as the lyrics seem personal which is also a good look , i think with the right posh she is set to have a monster hit with this, im well impressed, well done!

im actually suprised how good the song and video are. she obviously didnt have a huge budget for the video but did an amazing job with what she had. if she wasnt a member of girls aloud then people would be praising this song, video and her as ‘eclectic’ along the lines of la roux or M.I.A. its certainly more creative and original than anything cheryl cole or nadine coyle have come up with.

I think Nicola’s choreography is meant to be like that … Her whole personality, voice, attitude just compliments it and puts out a laid-back feel. She doesn’t take herself seriously. I like it. She has the best voice in Girls Aloud, anyway, so she’ll do ok. Good luck to her.
