The suit didn’t look like it was tailored to fit her. It actually looked a bit too large and it really looked uncomfortable to dance in. She seemed hoarse and out of breath and she probably would have done better performing a mix of Motivation and Lay It On Me.

I think this is the first time I really have been able to feel Kelly live in a very long time. I see where there were a few flaws. Her vocals weren’t perfect, but her showmanship was on 100! She also had alot of swag, so I’m not mad at Kelly at all. This was her best as far as I’m concerned. I hope she continues working out the kinks, because she’s getting there.

OMG, Kelly exuded such confidence in this performance. I jumped up during the break down, and as i came down i slipped on my rug! thats how excited i was for her!!! Yes her vocals were a bit off, but she knew that and she stayed away from the higher notes. She sounded hoarse, so maybe she has been rehearsing for other things…like more promo.

Kelly didn’t start really moving until the second half of the song and her vocals sounded shot from the beginning I love kells but she needs to get it together this would have been semi acceptable if she had been performing all week on TV however this was her first performance and it sucked vocally was good dancing wise however.

That was a mediocre vocal performance and the dancing didn’t make up for it. She needs to get on a treadmill and just run and sing till it becomes natural. Beyonce has had plenty of performances, especially in her “Crazy In Love” days where she sounded horse, deep and manly, and over sung the damn track! Ok, I feel a bit bad for slyly comparing her to Bey so I’m gonna have to retract some of my comment. I realize that she doesn’t have that A personality type or perfectionist attitude that Beyonce has and I respect her for doing her thing.
I’m a DC3 stan and I want to see all my girls come out on top. Everyone here KNOWS Kelly has an amazing talent, but I want everyone out there to know it as well. The general public ain’t gonna be checking for her performances online or anything, so the little mainstream exposure she gets, she has to represent and I want that for her I guess.
The way I see it, there’s no time for bad vocal performances, she needs to capitalize on this eras momentum and WORK her way to the top. But I again, I realize she might not have that ambition, sp each their own.

I think she did pretty good. She nailed it in the performance department. However, she was a bit pitchy on the vocals here and there. If she keeps working on that, she’ll be fine. It wasn’t all that bad to me, I’ve actually heard worse. I’m just glad that she’s getting more exposure now by doing more performances. After this though, I hope she moves on to her next single. Because, as much as I love, “Motivation”, I’m ready for something else now. Other than that, she did good.

Kelly has definetely come a long way as a solo act and the dancing part was flawless.She can dance her ass off.However, vocally, this performance was not good, it was actually painful in places (especially in the first verse) and the runs were…not that great.I don’t know if it was just the nerves or if she indeed can’t handle the song, but vocally the performance was not good.

I think people think she is singing bad because she has a lower tone than Beyonce. Sometimes is looks likes she sounds bad, but that just her voice and tone. It’s her trademark. There is no way kelly’s performance outshine beyonce’s, are you nuts. Beyonce vocals were on freaking point and she was hoarse. Her band was amazing her arrangement changed and she delivered sick. I bet kelly is gonna sing that same motivation arrangement in all her promotions. I usually don’t leave comments but this time I feel like I have to. I read the comments before watching the performance and therefore I was expecting something horrible but let’s be honest ´people the girl did her thing. This performance overall was really good. Kelly did a great job. Its ttue that some parts were off. However, i do believe those parts of the song are meant to be song in suprano -ish /lowkey tone so the mike didnt capture that as it should. Perhaps maybe kelly would of sang those low key bits of the song in a different pitch to compliment the rest of the song. The dance and stage presence were on point! Kelly did a good job, but I will be honest. When I first heard the song, I thought she was hitting notes out of her comfort range that could be a problem when she’s performing live. Artists should do on wax or CD what they can’t do comfortably live. The song could have been sung in a lower key. A lot of artists, including Beyonce do this. It’s call transposing. But nevertheless, people adore Motivation and I think it’s going to go down as one of the bedroom classics. What Kelly had problems with vocally in this performance was made up for with her charisma. It was charming.

Vocally, this performance was so-so. I say so-so because overall, Kelly’s voice has strengthened tenfold. I think that her vocal confidence this era is better than it’s ever been. She has the potential (vocally). However, this performance, her tone was strong but she was extremely inconsistent. If she can find consistency in the way she sings (i.e.: manage her breathing, manage her falsetto, keep tempo so she doesn’t fall short) she will slay – period. Visually, she murdered the dance floor. Her appearance and swag in terms of how she executed her routine, was AMAZING. I am loving Kelly this era. She is definitely showing them lesser chicks what it is.

She definately PERFORMED the heck out of that song. The vocal was not her best, but it certainly wasn’t “horrible”. Kelly was clearly experiencincing an adrenaline high (not nerves) and sometimes when that happens you let your vocals go.
Although I LOVE this dancing diva that Kelly has become, my favorite way to watch her perform is when she’s accompanied by a single stool and an acoustic guitar. That is when her VOCALS shine. The girl can definately SING. Her’s is one of the most beautiful voices in the industry.
This performance was just that; a performance, not a vocal showcase. I will say this though, if Kelly is going to continue to sing this particular song live AND perform it, she may want to keep her adrenaline rushes in check so that she can vocally smash this song. She’s MORE than capable.

But even IF Beyonce has a “onstage mishap”, the “size, scope, and presentation” of her stage/set MORE than makes up for it. With Beyonce, you get perfect “fit and trim,” with Kelly Rowland you’re left with…”sticky, sweaty effort”!

I wish Kelly’s fans could defend her without bringing Beyonce’s name up. I personally disagree with the use of the word ‘hoarse’ to describe Kelly’s voice at some parts. I think it is her natural tone it’s just that her voice fails at times and she loses pitch. Kelly can sing and has a nice, strong tone overall but she has vocal shortcomings that eventually come out in every non lip-synch performance that I’ve seen her do, even when she is not dancing. The truth is the truth, it has nothing to do with Beyonce. Trying to insult someone who routinely displays stronger vocal consistency like Beyonce to make yourself feel better about Kelly’s shortcomings is just silly. Bottom line, the vocal performance by Kelly last night is what I expected based on the vocal performances that I’ve seen her give in the past. Not bad, but with noticeable vocal failures.

First week sales are not indicative of the success of an album as we will see with Beyonce. At the end of the day its about longevity. Beyonce’s album success will be a replication of “Run the World” / “Girls” chart performance. High debut (not as high compared to previous albums) but drop in chart and no longevity. This was an okay performance minus vocals. Kelly honestly hasn’t been able to sing live since after the survivor era. During the Destiny’s Fulfilled era live Michelle was out singing her.
