For Pop starlets Lady GaGa, Adele and Nicki Minaj have contributed to a 1% rise in the sale of music sold in the United States.

Nielsen SoundScan report that despite the popularity of online music providers such as Itunes, physical copies of albums saw an impressive increase from 153.9 million last year to 155.million this year, even before the chart year has ended.
This is thanks to new releases by Pop songbirds Lady GaGa and Adele who broke a number of sales records this year with their respective LP’s ‘Born This Way’ and ‘21‘.
Rap sensation Nicki Minaj also contributed a great deal to US sales, as her debut project ‘Pink Friday’ was confirmed as being the third highest selling album of the year to be released by a female artist so far, with 609,000 copies sold between the months of January to July.
This currently makes her the highest selling rapper so far this year and the highest selling female rapper this decade.
Shifting 2,517,000 copies in the space of six months, Adele contributed the most to the sales increase with ’21’ closely followed by GaGa’s ‘Born This Way’ which has sold 1,540,000 in just two months.
These sales make Lady GaGa, Adele and Nicki Minaj the highest selling female artists of 2011 to date.

Either way, it seems that even before the year has ended 2011 has already become one year music lovers will be sure to never forget.
