It seems that although she has kept mum about the various criticisms she has faced in recent months, Lady GaGa is very aware of everything that is being said about her.
So much so that she has addressed these criticisms in an upcoming edition of ‘The Advocate‘ magazine.
Find out what Ms.Germanotta said below…
On the claim she copies Madonna, she explained:
I just feel so connected to Madonna in a lot of ways, and I feel connected to Barbra, and I feel connected to Cher and Blondie and all of the women who came before me. I worshipped them my whole life, and I would never be where I am today without all of them to inspire me. I feel so grateful that I have such strong women to look up to.”
Addressing the suggestion she uses the LGBT community for her own personal gain, she revealed:
“To say that I would use the gay community to sell records is probably one of the most ridiculous statements anyone can make about me as a person,I would say the top thing I think about every single day of my life, other than my fans, loving the music, and my family being healthy, is social justice and equality.”
It seems that the issues of Madonna and the LGBT community have become a staple star in the galaxy that is Lady GaGa’s career.
For whilst many critics have suggested that the ‘Born This Way’ singer is nothing more than a copy cat impersonator, it should be noted that Madonna also faced the same claims when she debuted.
Often accused of ‘swagger jacking’ Bananarama and Cyndi Lauper as well as Cher and Marilyn Monroe.
However, if the excerpts of this interview are anything to go by, it is the issue that surrounds GaGa’s reasons for supporting the LGBT community that seem to touch more of a sensitive nerve with the star.
Unfortunately for the ‘Poker Face’ singer, this seems to be an issue that does not seem to be going anywhere soon.
Especially as she continues to face claims that her underlying reason for affiliating herself with this community is to add an extra edge to an act so many of her Monsters love and adore.
