Leona Lewis & Sean Kingston Join ‘Major’ Mentors

As previously reported, R&B diva Brandy is just one on a growing list of singers set to mentor on the upcoming reality talent show ‘Majors & Minors’.  Now,  reports have surfaced that list will include chart-toppers Leona Lewis, Sean Kingston, and Avril Lavigne. The announcement joins previous reports that indicated pop singers Adam Lambert and Colbie Caillat were already tapped to advise on the new talent show.

The show’s concept is based on ‘Majors’ (established acts) acting as mentors for ‘Minors’ (contestants aged 8-16) on their quest for musical stardom.  The brainchild of songwriter Evan Bogart (who boasts Beyonce‘s ‘Halo’ and Rihanna‘s ‘SOS’ to his credits), the show is set to debut September 23, 2011.

Keep it locked to That Grape Juice as more details arise.

    WOW! Leona is certainly going to be busy, what with this and guest judging on Platinum Hit on August 5th, performing on X Factor UK and US and even promoting a new TV channel in Japan in September. Good luck to her

    This show seems to be really exciting!The guests are great and it’s a truly interesting concept, except for one thing ; 8-year olds can participate???That’s not healthy or normal.The age group should be more like 14-20 or something.

    the idiots here don’t know what they are talking about…um, this is a Sony sponsored show and the mentors are Sony artists…yall need to get informed..cross-promotion..

  17. AmbeRussell July 31, 2011

    the age limit seems to be really young. 8 yrs old 😕 really??? i would rather them be 15-22 or something. but 8 is too young. name 1 successful 8 yr old singer. i do not like preteen musicians, their voices change, they are not ready 4 this industry, bu the show seems to be like mtv’s made with the voice all tied into 1. still think 6-14/15 is too young though.

    FUNNY CAUSE IT AMAZINGLY TURNS OUT THAT THE SONY MENTORS ARE ALL FLOPS. OOPS#

  19. nice_gurl July 31, 2011

    @AMBERRUSSEL. I agree with you on the age limit. Boys voices usually break somewhere around the age of 13-16, and even girls voices change somewhere around the age of 12-15. I think the age limit should have been 15-20 or something like that. That way, it’s not all about the parents pushing their kids to do this and their voices are more powerful.

    “The show’s concept is based on ‘Majors’ (established acts) acting as mentors for ‘Minors’ (contestants aged 8-16) on their quest for musical stardom”
    Leona Lewis, Sean Kingston, Colby Coliet, and Adam Lambert are established artist? I agree with everyone else here, the age range is weird. Curious to see how it does.

    Why these mentors when most of these artists are either too new i.e one cd or have had multiple flops! I’ll pass!

    There seems to me to be a growing problem here in the UK that UK music fans seem to be becoming more and more centred on home grown music and ‘Talent’ to the exclusion of what is on offer in other countriesand that most people have no Idea what the rest of the world is listening to.
    These artist are world class artists and the only reason they are not well known here is because the UK media ignores them in favour of mainly far less talented ‘Home Grown’ artists and reality ‘Stars’
    I’m particularly disappointed with the B** for not promoting Talented artists wherever they come from. The educational value to young people to get the opportunity to see real talent at work is being wasted, and the public is being fed a diet of mediocre talent in the name of promoting our own.
    For example, the B** refused to Play list Adam Lamberts singles last year despite many requests on facebook and other places, I believe because he was a contestant on American Idol, yet the horrible single Swagger Jagger by Cher Lloyd is Record of the week.
    Meanwhile Adam goes on to become a worldwide star and top ten hit in most other countries in the world, with a Grammy Nomination. And we are stuck with Cheryl Cole.

  26. Robier August 1, 2011

    Hmmmm seems that this idea is not new

  27. TIMMI August 1, 2011

    @T

    The photo has been deformed to fit into the image of all three artists. The original is available lol, she’s not that twig thin.

    @GODDESS ADELE STAN

    “Whorenna” is a flop, fail, failure. The only way I knew what you meant was because you put Lewis on the end. Leona’s name doesn’t sound like that. It’s Leona. LEONA. LEE – O – NA. Get it?

    If you had half a brain you would have atleast spelt it “Whoreona Lewis”…. Damn, teaching “trolls” how to troll.. Is this life?

  28. Louis August 1, 2011

    Timmi… You rock, as does the one and only Leona Lewis!

  29. butlerny August 1, 2011
