New Song: Mary J. Blige & David Guetta – ‘Titanium’

Published: Wednesday 20th Jul 2011 by Rashad

While snippets have filled the blog-o-sphere of the Mary J. Blige-assisted David Guetta track ‘Titanium’, the song has finally surfaced in its entirety.  The dance DJ navigates the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul into a rarely ventured musical territory.  For mainly known for soul stirring performances and heavily hip hop influenced beats, ‘Titanium’ sees the ‘Be Without You’ singer showcased without her familiar accompaniment.

Does the Queen rule the track or does she get lost in the mix?  Find out after the jump:

F-I-R-E on the track!  So refreshing to hear Blige demonstrate versatility while exercising vocal restraint (in this fresh new sound – for her).  While one has to appreciate the singer staying true to herself, sometimes risks are worth taking – and this is a great example of such.  As far as super DJ David Guetta goes, he is one of the few beacons of talent in an electro-pop infested musical climate that makes the genre almost respectable.

Unfortunately, reports have it that though the blazing tune will be featured on Guetta’s forthcoming ‘Nothing But the Beat’ album (due in August), Blige’s version will not make the cut.

Its an ok song….I hope this doesn’t influence Mary to go in the pop direction any time soon though…

I LOVE IT & I’M NOT A DANCE MUSIC FAN. IT’S PERFECT BECAUSE THE LYRICS FIT MJB SOOO WELL!

  6. Ghetto Fab July 20, 2011

Nonsense! Why in the hell was he seeking vocals from MJB?!? I love MJB but this is not a good fit at all. He’s playing games by not having Kelly Rowland or Wynter on his album. To think he couldn’t get them, Kelis, or Chris Willis on the album is just horrifying. This album might just be his worst yet. We all know Kelly and Chris are the only vocal artists that can kill a David song. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

I have to agree with YEABEY. Mary should stay in her Hip Hop/Soul/R’n’B lane.

I was a bit hesitant to hear what Mary would sound like over a David Guetta track, but this is honestly pretty good. The harmonies are KILLER though. She is beasting on this song. True, I don’t think this sound is in her lane, but she is growing and trying new things. That was all of the GREATS do! I don’t think this is for her record though, but hopefully it will give her a bit more momentum for her next release…I can’t wait for MY LIFE II: THE JOURNEY CONTINUES!

I don’t think her voice suits the song and the song is rather…blah.
And David Guetta makes electropop respectable??Lol.Quite the opposite; he turned it into a generic mess that everyone is bored of

I like it a lot, DAVID GUETTA is just hottt MARY sounds good…

  14. Jloration July 20, 2011

@ASAP agreed, “POP LIFE” was Guetta’s best IMO; since then his music has been going left and right i limbo. He’s become he “commercial” type of DJ, and as a result has lost cred in the real techno/house world. *sad*

    *in* instead of *i*

  16. nice_gurl July 21, 2011

I don’t like this for Mary. I guess she’s just trying new sounds, but hope she doesn’t start doing lots of music like this.

  17. HALF AMAZIN July 21, 2011

Its not nearly as horrible as i imagined before i hit play. Its alarming because its not what Mary is known for. I just dont like this genre of music and wouldn’t like this song regardless of who was singing. Its for his album not hers so no big deal. If something like this popped up on her next album….clearly it would be a backlash.
