The song marks Maroon 5’s second Hot 100 No. 1. The band previously reigned for three weeks in 2007 with “Makes Me Wonder.” For Aguilera, the return to the chart’s apex ends an even greater hiatus. She had last ruled alongside Lil’ Kim, Mya and P!nk on “Lady Marmalade” for five weeks in 2001. “Jagger” is Aguilera’s fifth Hot 100 No. 1

Anywho, congrats to Christina. I can’t believe this is her first No. 1 in ten years though. Damn that’s a freaking decade! This is an accomplishment for her considering her recent lack of music on the charts and how bad her last album did. Congrats to Maroon 5 too. I don’t want to rain on their parade or anything but I do think them both being on that show helped them out a lot. I personally can’t stand the song and Adam Levine’s voice gets on my nerves but it is nice to see something other than a dance track top the charts.
I’ve always been a fan of Christina and her music and I really hope that she can find success with her next album. Even though I didn’t fully enjoy her last album, it wasn’t a horrible album. She had a few really great ballads on their and I felt she really deserved a Grammy nomination for ‘You Lost Me’. That song was beautiful and I think it was one of her best vocal performances she’s given in her entire career.
Hopefully with her next album she can find a balance between quality material and radio friendly songs. Even if she isn’t album to gain the success she had with her previous albums she is still one of the greatest vocalist of her generation. I’m wishing her luck.
