Rapper Eve has been silent for some time now, however the Hip-Hop’s ‘pitbull in a skirt’ is ready to roar back onto the scene with her much delayed ‘Lip Lock’ LP; promo pics for which surfaced today.
Due ‘soon’ (via her new label EMI), the album marks the first the former Ruff Ryder has released since the onslaught of Hurricane Nicki. A necessary and noteworthy point given Ms. Minaj’s gargantuan success and the all-round lack of female MC’s in the marketplace.
Which begs the question: is Nicki’s success a door opener or closer for Eve?

I think EVE has a chance at coming back. She has that look and vibe around her.
If these pics are any indication I’m rooting for eve. I’ve always liked her after she glammed herself up so I’d def support. Unlike nicki. Eve can actually rap. And still maintains the image. As u can see.

It’s like REALLY annoying when TGJ goes out of its way to mention other artists in articles about someone in an obvious attention to pit them against each other so that people can get on here and take sides. WTF does Nicki have to do with Eve? Not a damn thing. Eve is her own artist. Nicki’s career has nothing to do with anything about her.
Nicki won’t affect her success at all. These shots are nice. I think she can come back.
She has no chance…in fact very few people do. The reasons are as follows:
1. The gargantuan Jay-Z and Kanye album couldn’t push 500 000 first week,
2. Beyonce is struggling to reach 1 million album sales in the US and
3. Adele is, and I quote “eating the competition alive”
Even ignoring the fact that the musical industry is heading for a massive implosion Eve has been gone for too long…and as a result made herself obsolete.
In summary…Nicki Minaj will not be the cause of Eve’s or any female MC’s demise on the album chart.

I agree with KD, especially concerning Eve’s prolonged absence from both music and acting. The music industry is so wack right now (not so much music-wise, as how artists are treated by the media and public), you’re only as hot as your last hit, and if your hits are from long ago you are automatically deemed a “has-been” and everyone has their minds closed to you before the first chord.
Who cares about flopyoncé, jayz or kayne when it comes to another artist’s success ?
Sales are getting low every year, remember when sales used to be huge with all the promo extra, but she can get good money for her sales, it’s about her album itself and the promo for the album, singles, etc…

I have read through my comment again and I fail to see what it is that I said that has people so riled up?
Am I saying that EVE is a FLOP…no.
Am I saying that HER ALBUM will FLOP…yes.
The people I mentioned i.e. Beyonce, Jay Z+Kanye were mere illustrations of the catastrophe that has taken place in the musical sphere i.e. rapidly declining sales year on year. I could have cited more artists(i.e Britney Spears who still after 28 wks has not been able to shift a million copies of Femme Fatale) but did not feel the need to type up a thesis.
Comprehension skills are a must whenever you respond to me, and as I said in an earlier post…some of you people need to raise the level of your arguments instead of acting a fool and resorting to gutter tactics, because in the end you come off smelling like s*** and me, smelling like roses.

I believe EVE can come back but she as to promote the hell out of that abum, and drop atleast three hits before the album is released. I believe nin her cause if he can make songs like Gotta Man and Gangsta Lovin which were garguantaun good quality hits, she can do it now.

She looks good in her pics, I always liked Eve so I’m wishing her all the best and I hope she can come back and be successful. Realistically though KD has a point, she may have an uphill battle ahead of her but Eve is strong, she can do it.
I’m rooting for Eve & have all of her albums and the singles she’s released. My only problem with her is when she went “Hollywood” and dropped rap but I know that with good material her fan base will support the album – if they try to expose her to young kids, she’ll have a difficult time without resorting to antics to gain their attention.
This album is long overdue, but I hope she can bring it.As long as she gives me good verses and some fun hooks, I’m on her team too.The more real female rappers the better.If she manages to come back, she needs to take it to a whole another level in terms of visuals, though.I’m checking for her.

Eve had pop success LONG before Nicki Minaj. Lest we forget she collaborated on the hugely sucessful song Rich Girl with Gwen Stefani and Let Me Blow Ya Mind? I guess we all forgot that, huh? That’s because when pop/rock artists collabed with rap artists it used to be natural and honest. Now it’s b******* crossover.
I love love Eve , my 2nd fav female rapper rite next to Missy. Eve was one of the best female emcee’s to come along since a few of the other female rappers back in the early to mid 90’s. I remember when Eve first came out, her collaborations with DMX and she was straight killin it. She was known as the first chick of Ruff Riders.
She has a shot at making a comeback if she play her cards right.

We need to stop compairing artists and just take them as individuals. This is how unnecessary feuds start. Eve and Nicki are to different MC’s. Eve is the s*** and shouldn’t be trying to compete, but just release a great album. Nicki is amazing too, but I think most of her success comes because there weren’t a lot of female MC’s out when she decided to drop. My hats off to both. Lets encourage both. Maybe they could even work together on something. I’m looking forward to some new Eve music. I love the “So What”, track that was leaked not too long ago.
