Rumors of an Amy Winehouse tribute can now be silenced as MTV News has confirmed this Sunday’s Video Music Awards showing will indeed include a tribute to the late British soul singer. While the rumor mill had previously mentioned names like Christina Aguilera and Adele as performers set to honor the ‘Back To Black’ singer, MTV confirmed today that the tribute will be introduced by legendary jazz singer Tony Bennett.
Via MTVNews:
“…Tony Bennett will pay tribute to the legacy of late Video Music Awards nominee Winehouse during a very special segment at the 2011 VMAs. Bennett, whose last VMA appearance was in 1993, will introduce the tribute, which includes footage of him recording “Body and Soul” with Winehouse this past March at Abbey Road Studios in London.”
Set to be released on September 14th (Amy’s 28th birthday), all proceeds from ‘Body and Soul’ will go to a children’s charity named in honor of the singer.
Fans can tune into MTV on August 28th to see what other stars will take part in the tribute.

This should be nice. MTV usually does a good job when it comes to tributes. Adele & Christina are definitely capable of giving Amy a proper. Adele always kinda remined me of Amy. I just hope Christina doesn’t over sing like she tends to do sometimes.
This show is definitely shaping up to be something that I should tune in for. Hopefully it won’t disappoint.

I’m guessing she was oblivious to the large loads of luggage on the plane and WASN’T aware the pilot was drunk at the time so she thought she was going to be okay. That doesn’t mean she wanted to die -_-

Aaliyah died TEN YEARS AGO and MTV DID give her a tribute at the 2002 VMA’s! Aaliyah had a Behind the Music special & a E! True Hollywood story after her death! Aaliyah’s death got a lot of coverage! Aaliyah got the respect that she deserved and in reality she got more exposure after her death cause she really was not that big a star when she was alive! That’s just the truth! FYI: Amy’s toxicolgy reports were just released and it said there were NO illegal drugs found in her system you dumbass! She may have had issues with substance abuse but an overdose was NOT the cause of her death! Even if it was that doesn’t make it any less tragic!
