I like her a lot and she was very innovative.I’m not into her flow, but her lyrics, the beats and the visuals were ALWAYS on point.She was definetely groundbreaking and she is the only rapper who had any impact on pop culture (slight, yet still an impact).She was the 1st female rapper to make it to mainstream.She even performed with Madonna, Brit and Christina in the VMA’s.However, the title ‘queen’ seems a little too heavy.

I’m definately not underestimating her, or taking anything from her. I actually like her. And I stated earlier she’s UBER talented, creative & innovative. The point that I was trying to make was that her strength is her songwriting, singing, etc (where she is SUPER unique, creative & innovative). While, like someone stated earlier, her lyrics (in rap) weren’t THE best out there. She was more commercial rap, not necessarily true Hip Hop (like I would consider Kim, Remy Ma, Lauryn Hill, Jean Grey, Rah Digga, etc.) imo (like Nicki, which is where the comparison ends). Hopefully that cleared up what I was trying to say. 🙂

I wouldn’t necessarily consider that Neo-Soul though… I’m just saying that even though Lauryn’s career was short lived she made a HUGE impact in the Hip Hop community. Also let’s not forget that before she went solo, she was SLAYING with the Fugees. She really was a Lyrical Beast! And even if we say that her solo career wasn’t considered Hip Hop I still think that other female rappers “out rap” Missy. And believe me… I like Missy!
