Extended Preview: Jennifer Lopez’s ‘Papi’ Video

Published: Monday 19th Sep 2011 by Sam

Despite her ‘LOVE?’ LP being in free-fall, Jennifer Lopez and her team seem to be taking an incredibly laxed approach to the handling of its latest single ‘Papi’.

After a string of teasers, the video for the track was set to debut last Friday on Good Morning America. Instead, an elongated preview aired. Check out the 2-minute + clip below…

Hmm.

Although we’ll hold judgement until seeing this in its entirety, I can’t say its hitting the spot.

Between the shameless Fiat plugs, odd cam-angles, and lack of choreography, the clip doesn’t know whether it wants to be a commercial, mini-movie, or music video.

Here’s hoping the full version redeems the whole shabang.

Your thoughts?

i feel sorry sorry for this one but she’s totally wrong for this video cause how can you simply decide for a hot ancer song to have men running after you instead to have a great video with dancers and beautiful choregraphy ??????? this song neds a hot video with great dancing spotlight

I think it’s very good.I didn’t expect a lot granted that Fiat was most probably responsible for the entire budget, but this is pretty good.I couldn’t agree more about the odd camera angles and the “walking and everyone goes crazy” theme is a bit old, but it is nevertheless a solid clip that stands out from most of the generic video cliches out there.I think that the choreo will start from the second chorus and onwards which is rather underwhelming, but I’m hoping for some tight footwork (doubt it)

I hate when direction goes wrong. This reminds me of Beyonce’s 1+1. It’s an extended version of a commercial. The video is nothing more than an Axe commercial, which easily becomes annoying. It does not brand J.Lo well enough. Jenny can dance. She looks gorgeous, and she can sing. The video does not concentrate on any one of those features. Nice try but bad fail.

Wait a second, why is everyone acting like this is the actual video. It’s only 1 and a half minute.People are getting disappointed so easily. At least wait for the final clip to premiere to say you’re underwhelmed 😕

Anyway, there is choreo at the end of the video. It’s not as good as I hoped it would be because of the baggy outfit and because it had to be simple for all the random people (the extras that are stalking her in the video) to follow the routine, but there’s still some choreo.I expected something much better overall too, though.

i like it, music videos don’t have to follow a certain criteria anymore (see lady gaga).

The Director Paul Hunter killed this song with a boring, sad video. Doesn’t give justice to the vibrant good feeling dance song “Papi” Too bad, too sad. J.Lo needs to make better music videos.

I don’t really like the song, but the video looks set to be amazing.
