that was pretty damn good Kelly

  9. Mykeb757 September 27, 2011

Rocked she did not, I am a Rowland fan 100% but Imma need her to pre-record her vocals or stand her ass still cuz these so so sounding performances are not acceptable for a veteran…however Motivation sounded better than Lay It On Me

  10. Mykeb757 September 27, 2011

Her live vocals are really starting to p*** me off she needs to prerecord or maybe start sitting by a piano and singing ballads frm her albums.

  11. EightiesBaby8030 September 27, 2011

YEsssssss!!! ( Pauses to do the Butterfly/Tootsie Roll) My girl killed it!! I can’t wait to watch the rest of the performance on Jimmy Kimmel’s website.

  12. T September 27, 2011

Mykeb757 I totally I agree…. Kelly can’t dance and keep the vocal strong.
I’m all for pre-recorded vocals as long as you’re PUTTING ON A SHOW. (i.e. nothing Britney Spears does)
That’s why I don’t see why people were clowning J.Lo at the iHeart Radio concert.. She killed it.

  13. YEAKELLY September 27, 2011

    she shitted! lol

but im pissed that the interviews ran over because the tv viewers didnt get to see the full motivation performance, which i was told was even better than LIOM!!

  14. michael September 27, 2011

WOW! Kelly , you are so beautiful.

the mic. to the audience so much and do your thang.

  20. ChristinasCOMING September 27, 2011

This is one of those performances where u wait for a sick dance break (like she did at BET with Motivation) and right when you think its about to happen, the performance is over.

  21. grape juice fan September 27, 2011

I just watched the full performance of Motivation and Keep It Between us. Those were pretty solid performances, especially the vocals for the Motivation performance.

  22. josh September 27, 2011

  24. grape juice fan September 27, 2011

@Josh how many songs did she perform in total?

  25. RIHANNA IS A W****! SEE TWITTER September 27, 2011

Here I Am is still flopping with sales…oh Kelly you tried

  26. KD September 27, 2011

Album sales aside, she isn’t a bad artist. I actually thought that she did well (if a tad out of breath here and there…but such is to be expected). I wish she would have kept her earlier grown and s*** look instead of the short shorts/underwear or whatever the hell it is she is wearing.

    S/N: I wonder where Ms. Row’s biggest fan aka X, Y and Z is?

  27. Latrice September 27, 2011

She did great ! I was there and she performed way more than they showed and it was great from the time she walked on stage to the time she walked off. She’s very talented and pretty, they sleep on Kelly !

  28. D-MONEY September 27, 2011

X, Y, AND Z KNOWS BETTER NOT TO COMMENT, THAT PUNK B****.

BUT YEA, KELLY KILLED IT…… DAMN I NEED ME SOME KELLY, THATS MY TYPE OF GIRL

IF YOU ADD ME ON FACEBOOK ” DAMANI MCKIE ” YOU WILL SEE THE PIC ME AND KELLY TOOK TOGETHER

  29. D-MONEY September 27, 2011

@latrice if u don’t mind, what r all the songs she performed?

  30. incognegro September 27, 2011

Go’ Head MS KELLY!!! Kelly did a wonderful job. Her vocals were pretty strong (with Motivation being the highlight), her dancing was clean and enjoyable, and her confidence was on point. I think the thing that has hindered Kelly in the past was the fact that was she was not a seasoned live soloist, but she is quickly becoming one. It’s a difference performing live with a group as opposed to performing alone, because now you have to hold up a show without any additional voices and/or distractions. “Lay It On Me” is a newer track, which I feel Kelly is still sinking her teeth in…thus as a result it did not stage as well as Motivation did. Rather than getting crowd participation throughout the song (which is hard at Jimmy Kimmel live, because the atmosphere is so loud and chaotic – people hardly remember who’s performing), she should just sing the song out, and at the end get crowd participation. Also, Kelly is a vocal technician who sings well when she’s comfortable. So the moments when she’s moving around or going HAM (jumping up and down while singing) throws off her rich tone. The slinky s*** choreo fits her, and moreover her vocals should be the main show – so there should be an effort to allow her to hit her notes rather than going-in, which often strains her voices, and causes her to sound like she’s yelling. But all in all, Kelly werked the s*** out of these performance, and the more opportunities she gets to do it, the more we will see what she is really capable of. Great show. Team Kelly 🙂

  31. ASAP (As Sincere As Possible) September 27, 2011

It was good but I expected something MAJOR!It felt like she was alone on stage most of the time.I don’t know if the dancers were here throughout LIOM but the camera only showed her and it seemed rather…dull. She’s a good performer, though and she interracts VERY well with the crowd. It’s just that they didn’t give her a big production/budget, I guess.

(She always nails ‘Motivation’.I hope that after more rehearsals, she’s going to find the winning formula for the LIOM performances as well)

  32. aisha aguilera keys September 27, 2011

She can dance, but she has to improve her singing. It was a decent performance, very energetic even though she was worn out, she still gave it her all. Go Kels! Just saw the other performances, her voice was better, even though she was still exhausted and outta breath. People really loved the performance, they were cheering her on!

  33. josh September 27, 2011

    @grape juice fan
she did: lay it on me motivation, like this then dc melody ( bug a boo , solider, say my name , jumpin) then all pof the night and keep it between us

  34. THEMAN September 27, 2011

Dayum y’all act like she ain’t supposed to breathe while dancing and singing, shut that sh*t up. All artists that dance/sing do it. Her vocals were very good. She was on. Hot performances.

  35. KIMBERLY September 27, 2011

@ cognegro are you kelly’s publicist?
Anyway that was a fantastic performance from kelly. she is worth being recognized more and ditch the artists who just use crazy antics for the attention. no names…

  36. 77Abe77 September 27, 2011

I’ll give Ms Kelly a pass for not singing %100 + , GO KELLY Love You !!!

  37. bey’knight September 27, 2011

looks like im in the minority here but i absolutely preferred LIOM performance, she looked like she was having more fun and more comfortable with that one and i even enjoyed it more after the dancers left the stage lol. the bit when when she was mouthin big sean’s rap …….lol nice

i realise now, i dont like her live vocals at all! there’s no strength in it at all i cant imagine her doing a 23-song setlist as a solo artist. loved the arrangement, dancing pretty much everything else but the vocals

  38. mhud September 27, 2011

queen kelly rowland keep slaying them

  39. JUSTQua September 27, 2011

As a Kelly Rowland fan I have to ask where in the hell was this Kelly 4 years ago?? This is what I have been waiting for from Kelly. I seen her live on tour when the FAME Tour came to Jersey and Kelly killed it from start to finish. Kelly is really coming into her own and I’m happy. I still want to see her on other US tv shows since the fall tv season started. I guess time will tell. Anyway #TEAMKELLY

  40. JUDAS666 September 27, 2011

AT LEAST SHE SINGS LIVE UNLIKE BEYAAWWWNCE. I LIKE KELLY MUCH BETTER AS A PERFORMER AND PERSON. BEYAAWWNCE’S FAKE. KELLY KEEPS IT REAL BESIDES BEING THE FIRST DC MEMBER TO DUMP PAPA KNOWLES.

  41. …………………………………… September 27, 2011

She did very well! I’m so proud of Kelly!!! U could tell she was giving outta breath at the end of Lay it on Me but she played it off very well…. She has come along way!! I am so excited for the future bcuz I know she will only get better!!!

  42. chillin September 27, 2011

way to go Kellz! I agree she seems to be more confident and comfortable performing Motivation now..and you can tell from her confidence… Lay it on me is definitely a newbee..so just how she had to come to grips with Motivation..she has to with Lay it on Me..notheless, she looked stunning, and the performance was quite good..way to go miss Kelly!!! still rooting for ya!

    @KIMBERLY

That’s not what publicists do actually but that is someone who know’s what they’re talking about when it comes to analysing a performer.

    @cognegro

    I completely agree.

  44. Troybenz September 27, 2011

im proud of her i would rather go t a kelly rowland concert then a beyonce or britney spears concert

  45. NikkiIsChillin September 27, 2011

Yay Kelly! She did a great job. I enjoyed all of her performances on JKL. LIOM is my fave.

  46. Fleur September 27, 2011

It’s always great to see Ms. Kelly doing her thing. I enjoyed the show. She looks great.
Rate performances-> Motivation>>>Keep It Between Us>>>Lay It On Me
    Keep it up Kelly.

  47. Royalkev September 27, 2011

I think Kelly is improving. I think she’s gaining confidence and selling the right attitude. It’s just the technical parts of the show where you see her struggle. ‘Motivation’ is always a highlight. She’s moving well, the choreo is s*** and slick. That works for her. Kelly must watch it when she gets excited, she starts losing the key she sings in. She yells and sounds harsh. It’s not a big deal for most artist that perform really well, but Kelly makes you take notice of it. That’s when it’s not something you pardon. I think overall she’s still making progress. I just want her to find a way to entertain and sing well. That may simply mean that she need to share more of the load with back ground singers, so that she can carry the show when she’s dancing.

No shade but is her promo she’s getting helping her album sales? If it aint there really isn’t any point of promo.

  59. jojo September 27, 2011

Kelly did her! No comparsion here. Great performance.

  60. kurtussalt September 27, 2011

No shade……….But Kelly’s vocals were SHOCK to the ING! Not as a vetran in the business…Scaling / adlibs were all over the place and she still hasn’t really controled her breathing during her performances. Love Kelly and more power to her but dang she needs to get here live performances under control. Jo jo could properly out sing her at one of her own songs? Although her performances as a whole are getting heaps better…just my worthless $50cents

  61. nice_gurl September 27, 2011

Kelly is improving and the dancers are hot as usual. She did great on both LIOM and Keep It Between Us. Luv u Kelly….you’re doing great.

  62. dev500 September 29, 2011

i loved all her performances and people should really stop comparing her to beyonce, i mean really its getting kind of old and redundent..anyway kelly is doing her thing and ofcoarse people are going to hate on it. i can afew other singers who sound awful life but people love them.and in ym opinion kelly sounded amazing espeacially since shes been traveling back n forth from the u.s and u.k… shes making a statement if she can do all that and still put on a show shes a force to reckoned with..
