Trey Songz To Flaunt Rap Skills On New Album

Billed by many as the R. Kelly of this generation,  recent years have seen ‘Neighbors Know My Name‘ performer  Trey Songz go from being ‘ the boy next door’ to R&B’s most notable sex symbol.

Now, fans of the entertainer can expect to see him reinvent himself further.  For it has been confirmed that he will be showcasing his Rap skills on his upcoming LP, ‘Chapter 5‘.

More information below…

Speaking to RU, the performer’s executive producer explained:

I took a poll on Twitter to see if people wanted to hear more of Trey rapping and they said it was cool. He was a rapper first when he was 15. When he came to me the whole question was do you think I can be a singer, and when I heard him it was definitely.

Going onto reveal:

He was always taught to know what he wants and he was always taught to know how he wants to sound, and I think Chapter 5 represents the storytelling of how he feels and his emotions and just everyday life that people go through.

You know what?Any change for him is good.He has already repeated himself enough, so if that’s his way of switching it up, why not?I personally cannot take him seriously as a rapper, but people (inlcuding me) are tired of the yodelling, so that may actually prove to be quite a good move…

I think it will be like Chris Brown, just one rap song on the cd. Waiting to see what Trey has to say bout this, but the poll part of Troy Taylor sounds crazy to me, cause if it was on Twitter as he say, why wasn’t it open to everyone. I don’t think its a rap cd, just one rap song or probably like Wonder Woman, the beginning of the song is rap. We shall have to wait and see.

I think he should stay r&b, with maybe two rap songs on the album. He’s hot though.

  12. THEMAN September 6, 2011

There could be portions of rap on the album, but not too much.

“Billed by many as the R. Kelly of this generation”

Are you serious? What an insult to R. Kelly’s artistry! Please, don’t ever compare this non-singing, pursed lips trash to the KING of R&B.

In order to be billed as this generation’s R. Kelly who would have to possess a DEEP-ROOTED passion for music BEYOND the bedroom…. not just that but a GIFT.

    — The gifted ability to sing, write and producer.

The ability to shift from bedroom music to balladry that tug people’s heart strings and all the way to Gospel songs that has EVERYONE singing.

The ability to have tremendous talents like Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson, Ron Isley and the Isley Brothers, Lenny Williams, Smokey Robinson, Lionel Richie, and many others giving you praise.

The ability to write classic timeless hits not just for yourself but for many major acts.

    I can go on!

In conclusion, Goat Songz doesn’t obtain any of these things. He’s nothing more than a gimmicky R&B “singer” (I use that term lightly) who resorts to taking off his shirt to get a reaction. He’s blatantly ripping off Mr. Kelly once more with this “story-telling” concept. Hello, R. Kelly is the man who started this whole story-telling concept way back in the early to mind 90’s!

He’s cute and talks about s**. that’s why he got this far. otherwise, his music is bland.
