It’s probably a safe bet to say, fans of Frank Ocean are on cloud 9 right now. After weeks of teasing, the singer/songwriter has finally released the visual for the follow up to his first single ‘Novacane’. The Nabil Elderkin directed ‘Swim Good’ video comes only a few hours after the reveal of his ‘Thinking About You’ clip. Today’s a good day.

Why do all those artist try to over-complicate their visuals??And with acts like Kanye it makes sense most of the times, but his tricks are completely blah.I think the song is very good but I couldn’t listen to it because the video is too…gimmicky.I think he’s a great songwriter, but his hype as an artist is too much and I don’t think this video or this song (or this so-so vocal performance) justifies it.

Very dark and overdramatic, not very impressed at all. Nice song though
He makes great music, so I don’t understand why he tries so hard with the visuals. He needs to embrace the term “Less Is More”.
His music sucks, because his voice sucks. He’s a pretty good songwriter (sometimes) but I only want to hear his music sang by other people.
Frank Ocean is a very talented guy. He is no Luther Vandross but def not a Trey Songz. He is a triple threat . Songwriter, producer, and singer. I’d pay to watch his career.

I do kinda agree that while he is an insane writer and clearly has a vision for his work (hence I’d call him an artist)…, it’s true he’s no singer and just serves as another example of the industry trying to kill two birds with one stone by having the songwriter be the artist i.e. Keri Hilson, Ne-yo, Drake (when he sings) no matter how unstarry and ill-equipped they are, rather than have a talented singer deliver what is clearly potentially epic material……….., I love his music but I have to say I skipped a beat when I heard he was going to be writing for Brandy’s new album because I hear her in his music and she has the kind of talent that can really elevate music like this. Just think, if the 80’s had been a songwriter only decade like this one there would be no Whitney, Michael…, not every legend wrote their own songs, delivery of a song is a much underrated skill these days.
yes ive been waiting for ever for this video. The plot was lef field but it was still intensely creative. This song is one of the best song released this year. A song with depth and meaning instead of the same braggin about clothes,money and h***. And for the haters just stop. Frank ocean is an amazing singer and writer . Just because most of your favs cant properly form a sentence (especially not a hit song) does not make them a better singer

I love the song and I love the video too. He creates stories in his videos, which is rarely seen by artists these days and I love that he is being different.

Whats wrong with frank oceans voice its funny how people judge voices these days it seems you have to sing like beyonce or you dont have a good voice….its ridiculous really my opinion is. its smooth and he doesnt have to wail his lungs out to sing a song. he writes stuff which is real and kooky and kinda tackled some of the things that were in my mind, i have been listening to so much pop/rnb but its refreshing to hear something raw and his mixtape is really good and i find “novacane swim good, we all try,dust” some really good tracks…ive not been a great fan of trey songz as hes a bit hit and miss for me
