Fans all over praised ‘Love All Over Me’ songstress Monica’s official lead single ‘Until It’s Gone’ upon its mid-September unveiling. To capitalize on the warm reception, the Grammy winner has already wrapped shooting on the accompanying visual for the single – which officially gained radio adds Tuesday.
And, while the Diane Martel-directed clip is expected to make its way to screens in the coming weeks, Essence.com caught up with the ‘Everything To Me’ belter to dish on everything from the song, its video concept, beauty tips and more.

The video looks like it will be interesting, but the song is a SNOOZE. I just don’t know why she refuses to step outside the box an grow as an artist. Girl’s been in the business way too long to be doing the same stuff over and over. She never comes new and fresh. She can sing but if you’ve heard one Monica song, you’ve heard em all.

I think the main problem with Monica is that her team does not test her singles for audience/radio response 1st before moving forward with videos / promo. “Anything” could have been a good 1st single but Mo’s vocals on that song were not impressive in my opinion. This new song “Until It’s Gone” leaked a few months ago and it sounded like either a filler track or an unreleased track because I do not think it is single worthy. Monica could have came a lot stronger, both with her vocals and with her single choices. “Still Standing” had a good mix of producers/writers so I hope that this album has a diverse mix again to make it a good album.

Monica has never been one to want that mainstream fame and be the big celebrity. This new song is a direct reflection of what pleases her and her fans. So as long as we are cool with it, no one else matters. I think the idea of singing as a whole is missing from this industry and she is one of the few from the 90’s who is still able to make great music. Anyway the video looks like its going to be great and the song stays on rotation.
