With the release of Mary J. Blige‘s ‘My Life II: The Journey Continues’ inching ever nearer, the project’s latest single, ‘Mr Wrong’, has surfaced.

The track has a weird duality in that it manages to be both classic Mary, while also somewhat of a snoozer; presenting a compelling question of whether “classic Mary” ticks the box in the current climate.
Cuts such as Kelly Rowland‘s ‘Motivation’ show that R&B can still be fresh and exciting in an era where Electro-Pop dominates the landscape. Yet, beyond, Drake’s opening bars, this drags. And, though becoming (only slightly) more interesting instrumentally on Ms. Blige’s second verse, this strikes as being little else than album filler.
Still, who knows how this’ll pan out. For, collectively Blige and Drake remain two of Urban music’s biggest names.

I like this, but I always have a hard time fully getting into something from Mary when she sounds like she’s singing material meant for another artist. Overall it definitely seems like a topic she’d take on, but I just keep hearing a Brandy thing going on with her flow lately. It might just be me. Still, this track is decent.

Oh please. Fresh? Motivation was a basic rnb song that follows in line with all the other sexed up songs.
The beginning and the end have me, but the middle..Maybe Drakes part should be put in the middle somewhere to break up the …the slow consistency. It would be a nice pace changer, there we go!
