Throwback Footage: Beyonce Attempts To Restrain Lil Mama

Published: Thursday 6th Oct 2011 by David

To say that the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards was an eventful evening would be an understatement.

From the Kanye West/Taylor Swift fiasco to Lady GaGa‘s blood stained rendition of ‘Paparazzi‘- the ceremony was unforgettable to say the least, especially when Lil Mama‘s unexpected interruption of Jay Z and Alicia Keys‘ performance of ‘Empire State Of Mind‘ is thrown into the mix.

However, what isn’t so well known is what happened right before the ‘LipGloss‘ Rapper found herself on stage next to Keys And Carter and exactly who tried but failed to stop her from ruining the now famed performance.

Watch below…

Here’s to hoping Ms. Mama has now stopped taking whatever medication she was using around the time of this embarrassing display of disrespect.

This is a funny clip. I don’t think Bey is trying to restrain Lil’ mama, if anything Lil’ Mama wanted to drag King B on stage to be apart of all the shenanigans. That was a fail!

LOL! I’m telling u, Lil Mama is one desperate b****! Her time’s up yet she’s still struggling to stay relevant! Hang it up, flat screen! That was just SO desperate, an attempt to create and maintain buzz about her!

The facial expression in Beyonce’s face is TOO much…DAMN!She looked like a total b*tch 😛 The Lil Mama thing doesn’t seem real to me.Wasn’t there any security near the stage or near the crowd??Were the whole VMA’s relying on Beyonce’s arm??NOPE.I don’t know if it was actually rehearsed, but it just doesn’t seem very real to me 😕

This was too funny. The look on BEYS face was priceless and I don’t think bey was tryin to stop her I think lil mama was trying to drag her up there with her and bey wasn’t having it lmao

  12. Fleur October 6, 2011

    Too funny.
    Lil Mama is alright :).

  13. Those That Cannot Do, Stan October 6, 2011

Nah I think Beyonce was trying to restrain her. The fact that Lil Mama turned her back fully and kept walking and Beyknce desperately tried to grab her with 2 hands at the last minute and then looked around like ” Do y’all see this crazy s***??!!”

Haha, was this before or after the Kanye mess? Because I can just see B thinking like “If another one of you m************ embarrasses me tonight…”

@ASAP – Lil Mama may be D-list but she’s still famous, it ain’t like homegirl Taneka was trying to rush the stage. Odds are security let her pass thinking she was part of the act or something.

Poor Lil Mama…she’s young (and dumb) but that was the biggest public fail we’ve seen in quite a while…I really hope lessons have been learned and she never does that again.

Hip Hop use to be fun. I remember the rappers use to have like 20 or 30 dudes on the stage pumping up the crowd. Now Hip Hop has gotten too main stream for me!

  25. Bey Fan… October 6, 2011

    love bey

  26. Bouncy Baby! October 6, 2011

    Bey’s face too funny!

Feel sorry for Lil Mama though, I really don’t see that as being disrespectful, she was just trying to show love.

Seriously they should have just laughed about the whole thing rather than make a big deal about it.

  27. Nae October 6, 2011

    AGREED!

MY COOCH ITCHES. DOES YOURS? GIVE ME SOME ADVICE LIL’ MAMA!

  30. Those That Cannot Do, Stan October 6, 2011

It was disrespectful because she wasn’t invited to come on the stage. She didn’t have to scream anything or throw condoms Jay Z and Alicia were asked to do the show. They prepped for it, worked hard, and then half way through their performance some chick neither are cool with came on stage and made it about her. Jay Z even made fun of her a little on stage trying to get her to sit back down but she refused. Then at the end she poses like she did something, lol.

I’m sorry it got so ugly for her but she did deserve some ridicule for doing that.

  31. Carl October 6, 2011

Beyonce was like girl u better sit your ass down

  32. VA STAND UP!!! October 6, 2011

LMAO! TGJ ya’ll are random as hell sometimes! Pulling up this old ass video from two years ago! What did ya’ll want to embarrass Lil Mama all over again or ya’ll just had to do another Beyonce post? Lol!

The look on Beyonce’s face was priceless! That was soo not her night, first Kanye embarassing her and then Lil Mama trying to upstage her man. SMH. When you look closely you could see that Lil Mama was walking by and was trying to pull Beyonce on stage with her but Beyonce pulled back. She didn’t know what the hell her crazy as was about to do.

I still can’t believe she did that s***! Like, who the f*** did she think she was?! SMH! She played the hell out herself and unfortunatey for her since she was never really successful for her music this is the main thing she will be remembered for. I think the backlash was a bit much, but she set herself up for that. She learned a valuable lesson that night….ALWAYS stay in your lane….or in her case SEAT! Lol!

Only Northern African Americans would see absolutely nothing wrong with this. Sounds a lot like New Yorkers!

  35. nice_gurl October 7, 2011

Bey’s expression was so funny. Lil Mama should have sat down. It could have ended up worse if Bey was dragged along.
