Mario Covers Adele’s ‘Rolling In the Deep’

Published: Wednesday 30th Nov 2011 by Rashad

‘Go’ singer Mario is going to great lengths to reintroduce himself to fans and Billboard charts alike after the last few years of his life have been riddled with personal and legal drama, furthered by poor record sales.  With his forthcoming February 2012 album ‘Restoration’ hoping to restore his name to the aforementioned outlets, its preceding mixtape, ‘Truth Be Told’, is looking to assist the acquisition. With new music on the horizon, the young crooner has been documenting the recording process in a Vlog called ‘Mario Mondays’.

Most recently, the set saw the oft-praised R&B vocalist lend his vocals to one of the year’s biggest hits – Adele‘s ‘Rolling In the Deep’.  Definitely looking to get people talking, find out how Mr. Barrett fared on the cut after the jump:

Start at 3:38

Interesting twist on the number.  A number , mind you, that many-a-singer are now attempting to prove the merit of their vocal chops.  In all fairness, Mario’s skill, while indubitable, may not bode well with fans of the original arrangement of the song as its original stylings (along with vocal arrangements) are part of its mass appeal.

Even in such, the singer’s vocals stand as a testament that there are some young crooners who can actually sing and do not have to rely on heavy studio assistance to sing basic songs.  Let’s hope his entire future bodies of work, boasted on forthcoming mixtapes and LPs, accurately reflect what the Baltimorean is more than capable of producing.

Q 10) Explore the presentation of gender in Dracula and Christabel. In the course of your writing, show how your ideas have been illuminated by your response to the bloody chamber and other readings of your chosen texts and any relevant contextual influences on all three.
Dracula is a novel written in 1897 by Irish author Bram Stoker and Christabel by Samuel Taylor Coleridge which was completely published in 1816 in arrears to it being written in sections. This was an era in which there was a transition from rationalism to romanticism. The Victorian era was a period in which science had elevated to new heights, it was the first century in which a major epidemic did not occur, with deaths per 1000 of population per year dropping from 22.4 from 1841-50 to 14.4 from 1911-20, with notions such as Victorian Vice and Charles Darwins; On the Origins of Species, this theory of evolution triggered society to question their place in the world and this had an influence on the nature of literature published in the 1800’s, morality enhanced radically with the advancements in science, faith in religion was diminishing. The Victorian era was identified for its continual debate concerning science and religion, religion was permanently the centre of the debate and controlled all factors of dispute such as prostitution, child labour and poverty. Traditional gender roles were now challenged and social and sexual restraint lead to the transgression of boundaries.
Introduce the new woman before talking about mina
These gothic novels in particular explore this transition in depth with aspects such as the “the New Woman” which presents Mina and Christabel as women which are mentally and physically independent, experiencing elements of a male role. This is an example of a progressive woman as compared to the “Nightmare of the New Woman” which is exposed in Lucy and Geraldine.

I love Mario for real….it’s amazing how a talent like him is overlooked in today’s industry…While Male goat a.k.a Trey Songz is every where… yodeling across the world

All I have to say is yes!!!!!!! I always loved Mario’s voice, and I love his spin on the track. Here’s to more quality music.

    Nice, Mario.

Y’all see this? This is why it’s getting harder and harder for me to condone Chris Brown’s antics.

Brothas like Mario, Trey Songz and Jason Derulo are hustling hard to get to the top while Christopher is jeopardizing his last chances to stay up there.

    Keep on hustlin’, guys.

I actually really like this because it’s such an original version of the song unlike most others who just took the instrumental and sang over it.

  6. KD November 30, 2011

I really did not want to listen given that I am currently nauseated by anything Adele, especially this song but I have to say that this was not a bad cover.

@ Mishka…I agree with you about what you say about Chris Brown. It’s as if he takes his career for granted and he’s just so immature and always worrying about what people say about him.I feel that Chris is a good dancer and a decent actor but a singer, not so much.

I love Mario and he is so underrated .Mario is s*** to me and he seems mature.I also love Trey and I love that Trey took a break and that is exactly what dumb ass Chris needs to do.He’s upset because many of his fans just have not come back .He’s really struggling to even be platinum in America and instead of taking a break he’s releasing another cd.

Chris is spoiled and very overrated when it comes to his singing and that little scrawny body of his needs some toning….

    @MISHKA and @My Voyce

Why don’t you two shut the hell up! This post has NOTHING to do with CHRIS BROWN!…. NOTHING!

I am so sick and tired of you FAKE FANS & haters criticizing CHRIS BROWN! Unlike Mario, Trey Songz , Jason DUH- HELL-NO, blah, blah blah ________ (fill in the blank), Chris Brown is CONSTANTLY under pressure. Yes, he had one fight with Rihanna three years ago. SO DAMN WHAT! Everytime he does anything the media criticizes it. He purchased a new home – HE’S EVIL, he gave the best performance of the night at the AMAs – HE’S EVIL, he speaks to his fans on tweet about the things that might be hurting his heart – HE’S EVIL! If you don’t like him LEAVE HIM THE F**K ALONE he has enough fans that will fill whatever void is left by your absence!

    BYE *waving at you*

I looove Mario. I hate how talents like him don’t get the recognition they deserve. I still listen to D.N.A, especially I Choose You. That song is so deep!
