Monica Will Give ‘New Life’ On…

Earlier this week, the news that Monica‘s ‘New Life‘ release date had been pushed back upset and confused many of her supporters who had been looking forward its arrival in December.

Today, the LP’s newly appointed arrival date was confirmed.

Find out when that will be below…

February 21st 2012

Sure to place her in direct competition with her former chart nemesis Brandy, it will be interesting to see just how this project will fare especially with all the  hoo ha that’s currently surrounding her record label, RCA.

Here’s to hoping Monica’s next single is released just in time to encourage sales of the project.

For, with Leona Lewis and Christina Aguilera expected to release albums around the same time, achieving an impressive run on the Billboard 200 will be anything but a walk in the park.

she will be fine long as she drop at least 2 hot singles before then.. i like until its gone but she has to do some major promotion to push her singles a litlle more

Ok, this sounds great and as I said in another post, it’s nothing but a blessing in disguise for her,She needs to listen to all the track she has already and reject some of the rushed ones, then record some real r’n’b’ music with original lyrics and memorable melodies.

However, with all due respect, this article has some inaccurate info.Christina is releasing her album in summer, not in February, Leona is not a threat for US artists at all and Monica managed to sell 180k first week with no Billboard top 40 hit in the month when Justin Bieber and Usher brought out their albums and singles, so I’m pretty sure that she can handle the competition as long as her material is great.

    Hmmmm could be good.

That is pretty far back considering she released some singles for the album. That is dumb, I just wish they would allow these artist to release their material. I want R&B to come back, I’m sick of Pop running the radio

Monica said on twitter that her album would be out Dcemeber 13th!! Let’s go Mo!

  9. Theman November 4, 2011

Lol Leona is good but as far as the charts go she’s trying to get her music together. She has nothing to do with Monica. Monica’s album sales will be fine.

i already pre ordered 6 copies!! I dont give a damn how long the wait is, um waiting…

  11. nicegirl November 4, 2011

Can’t wait. I wish she would have just released what she had….i’m sure the music was great. Monica has to remember that unless your Bey, R&B singles do not chart very well anymore.

I knew her album would be pushed to 2012; and if you ask me it’s for the best. I think her first 2 single releases are actually pretty good but in the 4th quarter with everything else coming out, it just isn’t the right time for a more traditional R&B artist like Monica. February seems right and I don’t think it’s really the right time to say she will be facing “direct” competition from Brandy when NO NEWS has really been released surrounding her new album. But regardless, it will be a good time for Monica to drop. I can’t wait. With the way time is moving, it will be here before we know it!!!

I saw this coming when she first released ‘Anything To Find You’. In all honesty, that is a hot ass mess. The only person who can really pull off songs like that are Mary J. and she doesn’t even do them so raw anymore. I think Mo’ and Missy were hoping to trigger some old school fans and get them hype up but it didn’t work. ‘Until It’s Gone’ is such a good song, I would’ve rather that be a regular album cut though, because the public isn’t going to respond to that music too well. Radio isn’t even playing it. I definitely think she rushed this album and then when It came down to crunch time they saw it flopping. Whatever, better late than never! As long as she come with heat im fine with it. BTW that Brandy and Monica beef is over 10 years old and ya’ll still holding on CHHHHPPPP!!!!!!!

she probably has a later schedule as there has been label restructuring; guaranteed pushbacks for all acts involved. Wonder if Larry Jackson is still her A&R; hope not. Maybe she’ll squeezed out more than two singles

I don’t understand posts saying: “For, with…expected to release albums around the same time, achieving an impressive run on the Billboard 200 will be anything but a walk in the park.” There is always going to be new releases for consumers. There is not time for anyone to release their album without company. With that said, Monica will have a great album if she takes her time on this one. I did not like either first single because they were subpar. “Anything” lacked Monica’s stronger vocals and Kim was needed to make the song a little hotter as a 1st single. The 2nd single sounds like album filler type music that also lacked Monica’s better vocals. Her camp should really just take their time and make good music.

One of the main reasons her last album, “Still Standing” was well received by both critics and fans was the lack of production from Missy. In fact the 2 tracks produced by Missy on Still Standing where the two tracks I least liked on the CD…Everything to Me and If You Were My Man. I think the overly used samples and remakes Missy puts out in terms of production does not work for everyone, and especially does not seem to be working for Monica. She should stick to better producers like Dallas Austin, JD, and Brian Michael C**, all of whom produced the best songs on Still Standing.

Monicas a great artist. Shes had hits and misses like most other artists that have been around for years. This time around I think shes got to stay true to herself and her real fanbase. Shes got to push this album like no other because her true fans have been patiently waiting and we want that real music, real rnb back. And shes capable of it. We want a #1 album. Stay in that studio and release new life when its truly you, truly ready. #trumofan

Ummm I did not even know that MONiCA Changed Labels…. I thought she was on J Records… Is it all one label? Can Someone tell me? 🙂

  18. Jasmine November 5, 2011

J Records was acquired by RCA.

ASAP I am with you on this. What does Leona Lewis or Aguilera have to do with Monica? And with all the news of Brandy coming back, there is no single or release date, so what does Brandy have to do with Monica in this instance? Whether these artists come out or not, Monica’s core fans will stand by her product. This article is so biased that its almost laughable.
