Without a doubt, Brandy‘s upcoming album is one her most anticipated releases to date.
With creative credits from the likes of Chris Brown and Frank Ocean, to name just a few, expectations- to say the least- are high.
So in a bid to heighten the buzz that surrounds it , today the project’s leading contributor Sean Garrett share details regarding the LP and its long awaited lead single.
His comments below…
Speaking exclusively to RU, he explained:
The first single is hot. I think it’ll be more fair for her to reveal the collaborator we’re putting on it. It’s definitely something you have never heard—you probably haven’t heard Brandy over a track like this.
It’s very commercial, but at the same time,it’s got a dope hip-hop influence, it’s club, it’s radio, it’s all formats. It’s coming really soon. I’d probably say before Christmas.
Going onto add:
Trying to do what everybody else is doing is out the door. We just went in there and just got down to the music.
I really love and enjoy working with Brandy and we’re still working, but the work we’ve already been able to accomplish has been incredibly fun and fresh. She’s just having fun and letting her hair down.
Though we can’t wait to hear just what Team Norwood has been cooking up, we are also hoping that this ‘commercial’ lead single is more trend setting than fashion following.
For unlike Mariah Carey,Brandy’s voice is just as in tact as it was back in the 90s and so therefore is deserving of a material that not only showcases this but also serves to force her into higher chart ground.

Brandy’s single “Right Here (Departed) also managed to reach the Top 10 in France, peaking at number 7 from digital downloads primarily. Right Here (Departed) also managed to hit the Top 40 in other countries such as: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany, and Sweden, outselling any single effort from the “Afrodisiac” album.

Anywho, I LOVE Brandy, always have, always will! I still listen to her old albums and I do think that she is still an incredible vocalist I honestly think her vocals have gotten better over the years but I can admit that I don’t ealthink people have reallly been checking for her over the past couple of years. Not that I am not eager to hear new music from her because I am but I am not exactly on the edge of my seat.
I do think going a more ‘commercial’ route may benefit her, judging by the industry right now, she has to capture people’s attention and something commercial rather than a typical r&b ballad may do that. I just hope she doesn’t go to pop and comes off as ‘selling out’ but I doubt she will.
I’m looking forward to whatever she comes up with (mostly her record with Breezy) and good luck to her! We’ll see if she can make a comeback!
