Since she hit the scene back in 2008, Lady GaGa has been on the receiving end of many a criticism.
Labelled a copy-cat by sects of Madonna’s fan base and cited as being blasphemous by The Catholic League, Ms. Germanotta is one entertainer who very few have little to say about.
Now, readers of Billboard have shared their thoughts on ‘The Fame‘ singer.
They think she’s overrated.

On the organization’s 2011 ‘Year In Music Poll‘, GaGa beat the likes of Britney Spears and Justin Bieber to be named as the ‘Most Overrated’ artist of the year with 30% of the vote.
With 25% of the vote was Pop princess Rihanna and close behind was the ever animated Rapper Nicki Minaj with 13%.
Seeing as this week saw Forbes name GaGa Pop’s highest earning female artist, we doubt she’ll lose much sleep over this particular ‘win’.

I don’t think she’s overrated. She hasn’t had a #1 single since “Born This Way” although her album sales have been doing well. If anything Rihanna and Katy Perry are overrated. What’s a bunch of #1 singles going to do for you if people won’t remember them in years from now? Where’s their talent? what do they have to bring to the music industry? They’re all about image whereas Gaga is not only about how she looks but her music as well. Gaga has a reason for the things she does and has impacted the music industry. She’s working with legends such as Tony Bennet, Elton John, Cher, Clarence Clemons, Sting, etc the list goes on and on. Katy Perry is doing the most to work with relevant artists just to stay relevant.

I’m not surprised at these results at all or the three top “winners”. If you read blogs OUTSIDE of TGJ and a few others, you would already know that most people think that each and every one is overrated.
The only difference between the 3 listed is that I often see people then comment about how at least GaGa writes and plays instruments. This poll is all opinion though and not fact.
Overrated? she can sing, play over 10 instruments, writes all her music, produces, designs her tour sets, produced a very successful holiday special, has played a major part in politics in the US & India, has held political press conferences with embassadors, performed for the Queen, praised by several real icons (Tony Bennet, Barbara Streisand, Cindy Lauper, Patti Labelle, Cher etc..) Lady Gaga has always been a ‘character’ for show, but she has become a caricature and a parody of herself. No longer is it “refreshing,” abstract or inventive; it is now tired and dated. Overexposure is killing the cat and quite frankly Gaga is losing her relevance. By making herself into such a sneaky little cartoon who is force-fed to the public in obscene dosages, she has backed herself into a corner. The only thing left for her to do at this point is to throw on a pair of jeans and act normal, but how boring would that be for someone who named herself ‘Lady Gaga’ and made being strange her ticket to fame? She was here; she dominated the world of music and got her press, but the milk is now sour. The writing was on the wall when dowdily dressed and anything-but-flashy Adele c*** blocked what was supposed to be a Gaga-dominating 2011. Kids do not listen to her, it is not “cool” to be a walking freak show…and quite frankly it is not cool to like Lady Gaga now.”
