For all the “future fierce” Christina Aguilera promised her last LP ‘Bionic‘ would boast, the album has ironically been confined to the past. Just as well; as its below par sales, uneven material, and the general drama surrounding the singer at the time of its release, flung her once-flourishing career in the dumps.
However, this year saw the 30 year old stage quite the bounce-back with a judging role on season one of NBC’s runaway hit ‘The Voice’ and a guest slot on Maroon 5‘s chart smash ‘Moves Like Jagger’.
Capitalising on both, as well as the forthcoming season of The Voice, the one-time ‘Dirrty’ girl is reportedly prepping her comeback much sooner than expected.

For, we have been saying for the longest that her ‘Bionic’ follow-up needed to be worked in such a way where it capitalised on the few things that have gone (amazingly) well for her over the last 12 months. I mean, this, on paper, is a ready-made comeback!
Of course, and as Jennifer Lopez‘s stint on American Idol showed, true success (and we’re not talking one single) isn’t a guarantee. As such, to aid her cause, Xtina needs to ensure her new single is breakfast, lunch, and dinner (no pun). Either way, interesting times lay ahead. Bring on 2012!

She usually takes long breaks in between releasing albums. I’m afraid that her releasing an album within the next few months might seem kind of rushed. First you need to announce the plans, start pre-release promotion with the release of a lead single. This process was so badly screwed up on her last album, they really can not afford to do it again.
If this album is to succeed, she needs to make sure she is not following trends. She can not look like she was influenced by Adele. Just because Adele is about to win Album of the Year does not mean Xtina will follow in 2013. She also needs to make sure her music is not being overproduced wither. bionic was completely over produced. I think it hurt the album.

I think she has much to do before she readies this single and album. She should definitely lose the weight first. Get back to her old figure….
Afterwards, she needs to decide what she wants her image to be and clearly define it to the public. Christina has always been a chameleon like Rihanna when it comes to her image. She use to always changed it up. EX: Genie In a Bottle Era- She was bubbly and innocent; Stripped- She became Xtina and showed her darker side; Back to Basics- She became retro glamorous.
Her music has always had a holistic theme and message. That’s why her audience thought Bionic was confusing. It was everywhere, and it didn’t declare anything.
The Voice will obviously give her some much needed promo, but she needs other things as well…endorsements, fragrances, another movie, tour, publicity stunts, etc. Christina just needs to get in the good graces of the public again.

I just read all the comments (and boy did I regret it…).Keep it positive, guys.I’ll only respond to the logical arguments.
1)I do get the point that releasing an album after only an 1-year break is strange for her standards, but why should it be a problem?? 😕 All her fans, including myself, were hoping that she wouldn’t wait until freaking 2014 to come back and I couldn’t be happier with her decision to release the album now.She’s been recording for over 1 year, so why do you think it will seem rushed?? 😐 It won’t.The ‘Burlesque’ era finished in December 2010 and the new era MIGHT begin in late January 2011.That’s more than a year with no new music out aside from a feature.
2)Christina’s weight is not a big problem for now.Her album will be personal and heartfelt, so as long as she finds the right stylist to hide the flaws that, according to cheap tabolid freaks, celebrities shouldn’t have, her weight won’t be an obstacle for her at any other aspect of the new era 🙂
3)Yes, she does need to define her image, but how do you know what she’s planning?She hasn’t performed any new music anywhere besides the AMA’s so she hasn’t got the chance to showcase her new creative ideas in terms of the image and the overall style.Besides, she’s said the album will be very introspective, so maybe the music will speak for itself.Why should an era with no antics be out of the picture? 😉
If anything, Perez Hilton had little impact on Bionic’s performance. It looks like he has had an impact on the failure and success of several artists but he hasn’t. He would like to think so though because he has an Ego bigger than the Burj Khalifa. As for her next album, he will once again have very little impact on the album.
Bionic failed for one major reason: It simply was a mediocre album and her fans wanted more than what they were given on Bionic. They expected better. If you were really behind Stripped and B2B, you were bound to be dissapointed with Bionic. This is why for her to return to success, her next album must meet the standards she set on Stripped & B2B. She also needs to change her attitude. It comes across as abrasive. Its going to take a lot of work for her to turn her career around. Releasing a single next month is too soon. She needs more time to fix things and put things in order.

I am a huge fan of Christina’s and was very impressed with Bionic. It wasn’t mediocre at all. If you’re going to use that term with Bionic, then I’d hate to hear what you think about Katy’s Teenage Dream, all of Gaga’s and Rihanna’s music, BEP etc…everybody’s songs are mediocre at its best. And one more thing, if Britney can rebound exactly 1 year later with Circus after Blackout was released, then Christina can rebound nearly 2 years later and Britney far less talented.
As a true fan of Christina’s, I don’t want to have to wait another 2-3 years for new music from her. 2 years is reasonable for me. As Christina stated, it’s enough time to live life a little, learn more about yourself, and get more creative juices flowing. Hell that happens to me in just 1 year and when you have all this inspiration and creativity building up, you have to get it out there ASAP.
Christina’s problem with Bionic was she waited too damn long to release it. Because of that, people moved on and focused on making Gaga bigger. The hype for Bionic was HOT from the way beginning and was supposed to be released end of 2009 and everybody was ready to hear what she had to offer but then she decided to do Burlesque, delaying everything, pissing her fans off in the process and they all moved on.
Now I believe that she’s got her fans back, we’re all ready to hear what she has to deliver. Y’all haters are just mad because you try everything you can to tear Christina apart, but at the end of the day her music speaks for itself.
And one more thing with y’all calling Christina a p** and fat and telling her she needs to lose weight. Imagine somebody telling you that about yourself or a loved one. Would you sit back and just let people talk to you and treat you how they pleased? I don’t think so!

Based on recent performances, her vocals have not made a real improvement since she started voice lessons. Years of bad vocal habits can’t be easily undone in a few months.
She needs to take a year off to work on her vocals, her intonation (there are ear training classes she could take), and lose the weight, make an honest well sung well produced album, and give it another shot.

Everyone’s music is not mediocre. I think Gaga’s three records are excellent. She has a great melodic sense when it comes to her songwriting. She is perhaps the only one who makes decent dance music . Personally I do not want to call it dance music b/c its above that. She is classically trained and she can play the piano and can play it very well. Most of today’s pop acts are not classically trained, nor can they play an instrument. I think Rihanna’s music is manufactured. She can sing, but her true talent is not showing. She does not write her own songs and this makes her look manufactured. I think Katy Perry’s teenage dream is a good album. I however question how she is going to go about the future given that she has been very dependent on Dr. Luke in the studio. He can not work with her now b/c of the new deal he has with sony. She has the talent to move forward with a different producer though. She must pick the right one however. The most recent BEP album was not that good, the previous one was better.
There is a lot of great music out there. There is Adele who is as real as a musician can be. Lady Gaga is brilliant. The Foo Fighters, Radiohead and Coldplay made great albums this year too.
Were there mediocre albums this year? Absolutely. Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, Rihanna, Bieber etc made mediocre albums . There will always be mediocre albums/songs but there will always be some great ones.

If Christina has a better voice than Gaga, why is it that Gaga can hit belted high E’s over and over in performances of “Marry the night” yet Christina always takes the lower intervals when singing “Fighter” in order to avoid the belted high E??

B- Lip the high notes
C- Let the background singers hit the notes instead of her

– Rachel Lampa

– Jooyi from Kpop girl group “Rania”
