Confirmed: will.i.am Joins ‘The Voice’

Published: Thursday 8th Dec 2011 by Sam

will.i.am has spent the better part of a decade churning out hit after hit; so what better way to bring his experience with the Black Eyed Peas and as a producer full circle than to join one of the biggest music shows on TV – ‘The Voice’.

As per an official press release today, the Peas frontman has done just that. Full story after the jump…

will has been announced as a “coach” on the UK version of the popular US show. Confirmation that he’ll star alongside fellow coaches Jessie J, Script star Danny O’Donoghue, and Tom Jones, comes after months of speculation about his involvement with the X Factor rival.

Enlisting the producer/rapper will come as quite the coup for the BBC, who’ll begin airing the show next month. For beyond his name and accumen, will had quite the public spat with Simon Cowell over his handling of the Cheryl Cole X Factor USA fiasco earlier this year (will “manages” Cole). As such, his signing on to this show continues to add fuel to the fiery narrative which sees both talent searches pit against each other. Bring on January!

I just can’t…I really CAN’T….SMH.How will this man coach young vocalists??Can he sing??NO!What is he going to teach them??How to overuse autotune??

It’s called ‘The Voice’!The contestants have to get advice and guidance from real vocalists… 🙄

@Asap…, Exactly! He is NO vocalist so really has no business coaching or critiquing singers. At least all four judges on the US version can hold their own and then some, plus he’s sooo annoying!

I’m so tired of these non-singing MoFo’s trying to coach people on these singing contest shows…….I mean what is he going to teach people? How to be a great Auto Tune singer??? Music f****** sucks now!

Damn and I thought having Xtina telling the girls to watch their intonation and then going on stage and scream off key was bad enough, now this man who is not a vocalist of any sort will give vocal advice? Pffff.
