The diva, 41, tweeted the shot above of her in hospital with husband Nick Cannon just moments ago, going on to reveal that the presenter and comic is being treated for “mild kidney failure”.

“This is us in the hospital – role reversal; Last year it was me attached to the machines (after having dembabies) and Nick was there with me through it, and now here we are.
We’re trying to be as festive as possible under the circumstances but please keep Nick in your thoughts because this is very painful. They tried to kick me out of the hospital but here I am pon de bed with Mr. C.
We’re doing OK but we’re “straaaaaanded in Aspen”. #DramaticDivaPlace (I know, we could be in a lot worse places) but the truth is as long as we’re together, we’re OK. Granted I don’t doubt the legitimacy of Nick’s illness, I must say this reeks of Eau de Tacky. Call me the grinch, but I struggle to see how apt it is to be tweeting, hash-tagging, and serving up your usual diva-isms given the serious circumstances.
Now, of course, it’s not at all anyone’s place to be nitpicking any aspect of Mimi’s marriage. However, this is at best more evidence that she really does live in a bubble and is eternally 12. Or at worst, that she’s attention-seeking. A bit of both, me thinks…

I agree with you sam \i love mariah but she is an attention seeker and there is a better way of announcing that news without all her diva terms. She is just not the mariah i knew in the 1900’s. yes they communicate with their fans on twitter but as a damn married couple and thinking mariah is 41 somethimes they make me look at their marriage as a joke. when i first read that, i didn’t get it because of her sentence structure but giving it deep thought, i wish them the best and hope it doesn’t get more serious than the word “mild” cause having kidney problems is no joke. it is like waiting your turn on line for the cashier.
Believe me she had nothing else to do but sit there so why not let everyone know what’s going on

I think that she’s more comfortable with sharing with her fans than other stars. She has said many times that her lambs are like family. Seems as though her #divaisms are away of staying positive and reassuring fans; some people are so cynical. UGh. I wish Mimi and Nick the best. Can’t wait for her new music!!
I don’t think Mariah is attention seeking. She is just being herself. She is more comfortable in her own skin now than she was in the 90’s and that is why she is able to post pics like these up with no photoshop. Also times have changed…celebrities do more communication with fans now through twitter and that includes posting pics and videos.

Sam if you felt so strong on your views regarding Mariah being so tacky for posting this picture what does that make you for posting the picture on your site for comments extra tacky. Now in my opinion obviously Nick had no problem with it so why should anyone else? Her commentary may have been a defense mechanism. Her husband is in the hospital and she’s probably terrified. Perhaps her words and sentence structure were a little off to some but she may have been trying to put on a brave front. We do not know what the doctors are telling her. The situation may be far more serious than Mariah is ready to admit.

It’s not being an attention w****, it’s just letting her fans know what’s going on in her life. Mariah more than a lot of artists has a personal connection with her fans and all she’s doing is asking for prayers. Maybe the pic is a bit much but so what? She’s a celebrity, ALL CELEBRITIES LIKE ATTENTION, that’s why they’re celebrities. If she was an attention w**** she would have sold pictures of her babies to the tabloids as soon as she could but instead waited 6 months to do an interview and set up a website with pics of her kids and the proceeds went to charity, not into her pocket.
