Joined by headliner Fantasia, Aretha Franklin, Estelle, SWV, Dru Hill and Charlie Hilson, both Mary and Keyshia are set to perform at the event which celebrates ‘The Power Of Our Voice‘.
On the festival, President of Essence Communications Inc Michelle Ebanks explained:
The theme of this year’s Essence Music Festival celebrates our most powerful voices. Whether it’s Aretha Franklin, The Queen of Soul commanding respect or Rep. Maxine Waters demanding better conditions for our community, these powerful voices resonate with our audience like no other.

umm they both will just be there or both performing but they wont be performing together thats for sure i love them both but Mary has never liked Keyshia for some reason..i feel like mary is her biggest inspiration but if yall didnt know mary turned her down(or her management team turned her down as they word it) to honor her at a ceremony that Keyshia was supposed to do at first

the only female in this generation that comes close to mary j blige : keyshia cole ,jazmine sullivan, keri hilson ,and shareefa ,but shareefa needs to come back out ,her voice was riff just like mjb .

I don’t think Keyshia Cole can really sing and she isn’t good at performing. Keyshia is a studio artist to me.

I have gone to the EMF twice and Mary J Blige was there .. I really would prefer another headlining act. EMF has some of the same people and its getting pretty tired… At least the super lounge has variety
