It may be one of the year’s biggest releases, but it seems BET just aren’t feeling Nicki Minaj‘s ‘Stupid Hoe‘.
Because, less than a fortnight after the release of its controversial video, the network have banned it, days before the star takes to Superbowl 2012 to perform with Madonna.

According to TMZ, a rep from the network confirmed that is has been pulled from their playlist, but did not specify why.
However, some reports cite the clip’s ‘explicit’ nature as the reason for its ban, as it features the Rapper repeat the word ‘Hoe’ several times and at one point perform enticing dance moves in a steel cage.
Sure to strike up heated debate, ‘Hoe’s ban follows a number of visuals the network has banned in recent years.
In 2010, Ciara‘s ‘Ride’ was pulled from the channel for a similar reason and forced to network to rethink their censorship policies, after facing sexism claims from the star’s fan base.
To be honest, with her upcoming gigs at the Superbowl, Grammys, Ice Age:Continental Drift set to give her another #1 album in April, we’re sure this is the least of Minaj’s worries.
Especially when the clip’s sole purpose was to build buzz for the project, which- as we can all see- has done just that.
The way we see it, it’s better to have a new video banned than to have never had a new video played at all.
Isn’t that right Bubbles.
